If you're one of those industry types with a passion for making so-called "performance enhancers," then we got what you need to know. CCP Drop Bear gives us the skinny on those of you with a yen. Need your fix? Then point your browsers here. I'll be back later to collect your ISK.

Good thing to revisit the booster production. Especially that there are now small pockets of former 0.0 gas in low sec is excellent boost to low sec and doesn't hurt 0.0

This is all welcome news, but I was hoping to see a remark about giving a ship a bonus to gas harvesting. I thought the T3 fullerenes alone would have warranted that, and now with the added content push for boosters...the game really needs a ship with a gas harvester bonus.

CCP Drop Bear obviously has forgotten the 10 crack commandments:
1) Never let no one know how much dough you hold. 2) Never let em know your next move. 3) Never trust nobody. 4) Never get high on your own supply. 5) Never sell no crack where you rest at. 6) Credit - forget it. 7) Keep your family and your business completely separated. 8) Never keep no weight on you. 9) If you ain't gettin bags stay the **** from the police. 10)If you ain't got the clientele say hell no.
If you follow these rules you'll have mad bread to break up, if not, 24 years on the wake up.

I found the ammount of ladar sites always lacking and the chance of finding a ladar hacking site even lower. It's good that this is boosted but don't make the special "story" stuff too much

Edited by: Patripassion on 06/03/2009 21:52:25 This is unequivocally a big pile of crap disguised as a content expansion: new npcs that don't drop anything special, less exclusivity for the 0.0 resource sites, etc. I don't know what you think you're doing. I'm sure the sites are more interesting, but from a game balance perspective this blog gives every indication of completely ignoring 0.0 gameplay.
Quote: The aim here is to allow people to see the entirety of the drug production process without their needing to venture into 0.0 space. Of course, any serious booster producer will have to make that step sooner or later. The good stuff is where the sharks swim.
Unless you just plain neglected to mention it, it looks like "the good stuff" in 0.0 is worth less than ever because it is now being produced in low-sec. I realize you want to bring the boosters to the general populace of eve that has been ignoring them, and lowering the prices is a good way to do that, but as of right now booster sites in 0.0 aren't worth as much as you could be making mining or ratting --which is considerably less work and requires less infrastructure.
Your drug team has clearly been junking up before work.

enjoy losing in pvp or, as i find more likely, enjoy running missions or mining or whatever boring thing it is you do that wouldn't need boosters

BIIF - but is it fun? (to borrow an expression often used on another forum called F13)
A lot of the things that you guys are implementing with this next expansion have an air of "cool - from a technology point of view" about them, but do not neccessarily sound any more "fun" than the current (somewhat stale PVE) game.
This would be an example - more complexity, ok, but more fun? not really.
Another example would be the AI changes you guys are implementing, which do sound awesome as a tech demo, but I mean, who the hell wants to have to run away from half the encounters because the AI, like a gank fleet on a gate, WTFPWNs you all the time?

A non stacking nerfed 10% bonus to a category that one has already maxed out through the use of skills, implants, ship bonuses, gang bonuses etc is non-trivial, especially when an entire fleet is using them --sorry you don't seem to realize this!

My understanding is that previously Gas Clouds were limited to specific Constellations in specific regions.
This page on the eve wiki seems to confirm that: http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Combat_Booster_Manufacturing#Gas_Cloud_Locations
Will these 'new' sites in 0.0 be found anywhere in 0.0, or are they still restricted to single constellations?
IE, will the new serpentis gas clouds spawn in Syndicate?
(I mean come on, The Syndicate makes the EDGE IMPLANT set for boosters, and faction gas cloud harvesters, but there are not gas clouds in their home region???)

This is correct. I believe that the closest nullsec cosmos constellation to Syndicate is in Fountain.

Improving booster raw material -> cheaper booster... good cheaper booster -> Not worth producing anymore... bad
If you really want to make exploration/booster production REALLY worth it... I suggest you double all booster bonus and reduce their duration by 25%... Decrease chance of getting penalty but increase penalty modifier...

In spite of what the few naysayers are claiming--these people wouldn't recognize "win" if it jumped up and bit them in the pod--I like that boosters and synths are starting to get another look.
If supply is allowed to increase and we get a little competition, I suspect the audience will become much broader and we will see a nice increase in demand.
I personally don't use boosters or synths because they tend to be difficult to come by and expensive. Often when I want some, the nearest for sale or dozens of jumps away, or the ones close by are way too expensive.
I would love to see synth manufacturing much more accessible. I believe that if we can get synths more commonly available and used, it can't help but increase demand for boosters.

Excellent stuff .
I'd also like to see improvements to boosters themselves.
Specifically to make them 'addictive' by applying the penalty of use after the benefits have worn off (short term gain, long term pain) to mimic a 'cold turkey' effect. Consuming more boosters would counter this, but ideally a player would have to constantly up their dose to see the advantages.

Mmmmm boosters.
As a producer, smuggler and user I like the sound of this new content. One of the most annoying parts of booster production is the difficulty you have getting the gas from other regions, having sites in low sec will make that much easier. The new officers and hacking sites sound interesting too, if only the NPCs in them would respect my positive standings towards their corps and not shoot me.
You really should look at rebalancing the boosters themselves tho. Some like Exile are much sought after and fetch good prices, others like Mindflood are underused and as a result you struggle to sell them for a fraction of the Exile prices. If the effects were more balanced the prices would be too which would make life easier for producers who have invested large sums of isk in drugs labs only to find themselves making a loss on underused drugs.

so you've replaced searching for booster bpc sites and hacking with warp in and shoot stuff..... I would have rather seen hacking/gas harvesting/salvaging or one of those expanded slightly more than just giving them t2 modules.
