Deployment of the free expansion, EVE Online: Apocrypha will begin at 03:00 GMT on 10 March. We anticipate the extended downtime for the deployment may take up to 13 hours and we expect to be back up at 16:00 GMT. We recommend starship pilots prepare for the unveiling of that which is hidden by setting a long-training skill. During this time Tranquility will be offline, our forums and news section, the EVE API and Secure (login for EVElopedia, Account Management etc) will be taken down at about 02:30 GMT. Secure will return at 05:30 GMT and the news section and the forums will be partially up at 09:30 GMT to provide players with a feedback channel. The EVE API will remain down until downtime 11 March. We will activate a back-up news system to provide updates during the time our news section is down.
Apocrypha will introduce Tech 3 Strategic Cruisers, Wormholes, Epic Mission Arcs, New NPC AI, New Fitting Screen, Skill Queue and much, much more along with a host of changes and fixes to improve game play on Tranquility.
Patch Notes are now available. Patch Notes and all changes are also currently deployed on Singularity. Updates to the notes may be added should any further items be cleared through the Quality Assurance process. These updates will be highlighted with green text.

Good luck with the big deployment! Frankly amazed it is still on schedule, well done.
I'm setting survey V and will probably wait a day or so for things to settle :)
PS love the new scanning system.

I'm not having any high-expectations about this, but does Eve Online: Apocrypha feature the walk-in stations and atmospheric flights that were noted in the 2008 Fanfest? Or are those features not available in Apocrypha?
Cheers.

No. Walking In Stations is for the next expansion, and atmospheric flight still hasn't been fleshed out as far as we've been told. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

"new epic mission arcs will take players on a journey through all four empires beginning with character creation. As the story progresses and the rewards grow more enticing, pilots will be faced with the decision of which side to fight for in the final battle." The feature page, dev blog and dev comments said it would be one arc only. have plans been changed and more arcs added?

Have you fixed the other bugs? IE The one when you clone jump? Or the one where you can't undock but just get a black screen? The one that tells you that you are overloaded when you jump through a gate so you cant warp or do anything but die to the rats or log?
Have you fixed these bugs? a simple "yes" or "no" will be sufficient reply

I'm somewhat disappointed by the patch notes. The first half of them are divided between plugging dev blogs and spouting lies.
We know by now that not all advertised features of the T3 ships will be implemented in Apocrypha, as the higher-end subsystems will not be available. Likewise, we know that the Epic Missions Arcs will be kinda...barren of Epic Missions at deployment. Being more honest about these "big features" of Apocrypha is more sensible than letting the Marketing boys have their way with it.
On that note, where's any mention of the new skill tree in the character sheet, Subsystems? Or the other new skills being added?
Good luck with deploying Apocrypha...based on past experience, you're gonna need it. |

Apologies if covered elsewhere, but ...
1. Will there be a patch to upgrade from classic to premium lite, or will we need to download full premium lite client ?
2. With all the changes backward and forward on scanning times + signal resolution etc, has the "elite" (all mods etc) scan time achievable (~89 sec iirc) (a) got longer (b) got shorter (c) stayed the same ?
Fingers crossed this is more like Quantum Rise and less like Trinity ...

I hope you've done something about the patch deployment. If you use singularity it still tries to download and deploy a 2.4Gb Patch (no, that's not a typo). I think you will find a BIG percentage of your user base will have difficulty downloading this quickly (not to mention the load it will put on your servers), and then even once downloaded I found I couldn't install it as it just maxed out my hard disk for 45 minutes without even giving me an on-screen prompt. Indeed it is covered, but now I am more worried. It advises pre-install of premium (ok) which I can do because my laptop just about does SM3. He then says that after patchday the client will "automatically" detect if SM2 version is appropriate like it does classic pre-expansion.
BUT I want to run the dumbest version so I can use multiple accounts / get good single account performance - will this be selectable after the expansion ? Or will I be overridden because the client sees I am supposed to be able to run SM3, thereby preventing me even running one account successfully ??? (yes I have read the forum posts of people who have similar hardware to mine bemoaning that premium runs like a dog, or melts their laptop GPU)
In need of reassurance :)

You can select presets, so you can use it for multiple clients. Also the Clients now share their resources, so multi client users will profit from it. Will run faster than multiple classic clients.. maybe even the SM 3 Version will be faster than the classics because of the shared resources.

CCP you are crazy? I have invested 1,280,000 SP in Astrometric Triangulation. Now you make from it Signal Acquisition. For what I need this skill, with new Scan Probe launcher, which have the scan time of 10 sek, over 24 days of skill learning for 2 sek faster scaning? simply fantastically

I have spoken to CCP Chronotis about this and he assures me that there will be an update list of sub systems and bonuses in the Game Development forum later today. I will add a link to this in this thread and the Patch Notes once it becomes available.
Given that there are so many sub systems and bonuses it would be a really, really long list to add.

ok not complaining here but what has change in the deployment with Apocrypha as its only 13 hours i mean most time you aim for 24 hours and most times you do make it in that time is it a case that the server already have the information on it and you just have to move the database and test or is there a new way of deploying it.
anyways gl hope it all goes well. 01101111 01100110 01100110 01100010 01100101 01100001 01110100 00100000 01100011 01110010 01100101 01100001 01110100 01101001 01101111 01101110 |

Signal Acquisition will change to Astrometric Triangulation, and the bonus will change from scan time to scan strength.
In other words: If you want to boost your scan strength, train Signal Acquisition now, and continue with the same skill under its new name in Apocrypha, Astrometric Triangulation.

I agree with someone else here who said CCP needs to take out the immense amount of "fluff" they add to patch notes. It is bad enough when I read ads and interviews geared to potential new subscribers but stop yanking our chain around on the patch notes.
Computers and/or software tweaks that you added on the server side to make the game more playable WEEKS ago does not constitute a patch note of an expansion that is coming out. The Ramsan was added already, its in the past its not being released tomorrow its not a client "feature". Same goes for need for speed or anything else that is not especially being added TOMORROW on patch day.
Stop trying to sell us the game in patch notes, we already subscribe thank you.

What about the Learning Multiplier when change the Skills for Signal Ac. btw. Astrometic Tri.
Old 5, now 8 ....
If one had Astrometic Tri. at 5 and Signal Acq. at 4, he wold get many Skillpoints given. A Char with Astrometic Tri. at 4 and Signal Acq. at 5, has a big Disadvantage.
So why does the Skills Changed, its not Equality for the EVE Players.

The only thing that was done to the skills was to change the names over and the bonuses they give. The skill that you have in your character sheet that's currently called "Signal Acquisition" will have its name changed and will have its bonus changed. The rank of the skill and the number of levels you have trained in it will not be changed. Thus if you currently have Signal Acquisition trained to level 5, you will find post-patch that you have a skill called "Astrometric Triangulation", which will be a rank 8 skill still, and will be trained to level 5 still. Nobody is losing skillpoints, nobody is having the ranks of trained skills altered. All that it means is that the most useful skill is still the rank 8 one and it will still have as many skillpoints as you have in the current rank 8 exploration skill.

So i think i los skillpoint for one simple example :
Bevor Patch, Skill for Strength at 5 an for Scan Time at 4 !
If i have Astrometric Triangulation at 5 (5x) an Signal Acquisitan 4 (8x) After Patch If i have Astrometric Triangulation at 4 (8x) an Astrometic Acquisitan 5 (5x)
After Patch, i must Skill a 8x for a Second Time to 5 ....
So some Players are better some Players More badly, in Point of the Skillpoints. 1 Million Skillpoints given for a Lucky Player

Sorry Grayscale, but the most useful skill was (after tomorrows patch) the one which gave you more scan strength, so to say the rank 5 skill astrometic trian. Signal Acqu. was just nice to have to reduce scan time.
Most of the players I think got the following skill set:
Signal Aqu. (8) @Level 4 ----> reduces scan time Astrometic Tri (5) @Level 5 ----> gives more scan strength (which is by far more important, it lets you find something)
So after youre patch tomorrow people will have
Signal Aqu. (5) @Level 5 ----> reduces scan time Astrometic Tri (8) @Level 4 ----> gives more scan strength
So the have a reduction of 50% scan time (whoooa, 5 secs to 10 is not that great as it was before the patch, the percentage is the same right, but the effect now sucks, same goes with covert ops @level 5).
Or am I wrong?

My current classic client says it is 75883, I am downloading the conversion from 75883 classic to premium patch, but the patch notes for tomorrows expansion say :
Build 75884 to 83913 addresses Patch Notes for Apocrypha ...
Is this a problem ?

The server will will be going down in 4 hours (10 PM). Hope that answers part of your question. I'm not exactly sure when during the 13 hours we will be able to start downloading.

These patch notes include a number of fixes for issues that are not present in the current version of TQ (5.20.75883). Would you mind taking out the fixes made on the Singularity builds so we can see what has actually been changed from 75883 to 83913?

"free expansion" you CCP guys got a nasty humor. Don't you know that there are still places on this planet where you have to pay volume tax? We have to pay us$0.07/MB here in Greenland 2GB is about us$145,-
Hope it's worth it.

OK, so I took the advice, upgraded to premium client from classic (my laptop 7400go is supposed to be able to do SM3), log in in station, all is well, then undock and all the stations / ships are white. Set to minimum settings with premium enabled (no shadows, hdr off, cache=zero) and still white. Before I start wondering if premium lite will be the same, is there anything else I can change that might help ? Or am I basically going to have to play Eve "bleached" or quit ?

I'm more than a little bit ticked that the server goes down an hour and a half before its suppose to. Whats up with that? Some ignorant techie get sweaty palms and pull the plug prematurely?
Comon guys, some of us plan our skill training pretty close, now I lose almost 24 hrs of skill training because of this (I will be at work when EVE supposedly comes back online), another 20 minutes and it would have been fine. You guys really need to get it together man. |

So after youre patch tomorrow people will have
Signal Aqu. (5) @Level 5 ----> reduces scan time Astrometic Tri (8) @Level 4 ----> gives more scan strength
So the have a reduction of 50% scan time (whoooa, 5 secs to 10 is not that great as it was before the patch, the percentage is the same right, but the effect now sucks, same goes with covert ops @level 5). So to say, 30 days skill training for one f***ing second, very nice. Will the bonus given for the covert ops skill also be changed or do i now have another useless skill @level 5?
Or am I wrong?
I would disagree, I think most people would max Signal Aquisition under the old system, as scan times for exploration probes were very long, and the skill really helped a lot.
In any event, CCP will catch flak no matter what they do in this regard. If they hadn't changed the skills around, then someone would start a threadnaught about how they had spent weeks and saved all their lunch money just to train that non-useless Rank 8 skill to level 5.

Well it's almost time, let us bid a fond farewell to our cornucopia of scan probes who will fall victim to a rare moment in Eve development - something being made simpler. I believe there's still a huge bug in the old scanning system related to scan strength when using multiple probes, that bug annoyed the hell out of me when I realised what the problem was.
And also, farewell to Eve Classic, and the small number of players who're stuck on laptops not capable of SM2 graphics, I hope you can join us again when hardware permits.
