Originally by: Ezar Ir i've also a problem.. i just jumped into another sector and then...nothing..i didn't see my ship anymore..i just see the environment of the sector i came from and nothing else..my ship is away..i try to relog but now the screen is black and it display the message "entering game as xxx" and the loading bar is full :((
I get that problem in station, but when i go through a gate, i can circumvent the problem by opening up the map before going ANYWHERE near a gate, otherwise something near the gates is causing my computer to go into an infinite loop.

I wouldn't exactly call this a successful deployment there boss. When you've got dozens of users complaining of the same problems, dozens more not even able to log into their characters (including me) And scattered players walking away from their accounts and demanding their money back, well i wouldn't really consider that a win.
Before i say anything more, you need to reply to some of these people. Really you need to at least, at the VERY least, make a post in big bold and preferably golden letters that says "OK WE HEAR YOU, WE ARE WORKING ON IT" because from here it looks like you got an angry mob on your hands.
Some of these things should have been noticed before release. You have a whole heap of volunteer Bug Hunters don't you? How did they miss this stuff? or was it that they didn't and you just ignored them and pressed for release on time instead? OK it's your company, it's your product, you can do whatever you want with it but in my experience there is no shame in delaying a release. Deadlines are, the social norm. You set deadlines to get people motivated but when they affect the overall quality of the patch then its time to throw them out. You would have allot less people clogging up your forum with shouts of discontent and probably a few would praise you for saying "We will release this when its ready and not before" Yea we have to wait, but while we wait for you to smooth things out, we have a working client, a working game. And also you have a HUGE community to poll, there is no shame in saying, "hey guys, SHOULD we make the fitting screen like this? What should we do with this? Where would you like the labels? Is the 3d model cool or does it come off as a cheap gimmick?" You have allot of support, so why not use it?
Anyways It's been a rough patch. Smooth for some lucky people but overall pretty bumpy. I'm sure you can fix these issues, but you need to let your community know that they are being heard, that you haven't just walked away from the forum. Of course it IS your game, and you CAN do whatever you want with it, but angry people make very bad customers. And you can disregard what I'm saying of course, i don't own a company, I've never had to deal with issues like these, but if i DID, then this is how i would handle it.
NOW FOR SOME PRAISE.
new warp animations = interesting, not sure they would really be oblong in space but its still cool. though i do understand why it would make some people motion sick. consider classic settings option in Graphics.
Weapons fire, Mining Laser, Salvager, etc etc. = Also pretty. Some people are having trouble seeing them at all though (and some people experience it eerily and randomly fixing itself after 30 minutes) also linked with a sound issue. No advice here though.
Jump gate sounds - Well i like them, they are allot more subtle. but it's nice for a change i mean, seriously the old sound was starting to haunt my dreams. Nice animation too.
Fitting screen - well i like that you added some more stats, color coded some resistances, prettied it up. i do like the 3d ship modeling, though the modules are a pain. mousing over should not be a requirement. and the charges should not take up the whole icon. suggest a separate charge slot appear under turrets overlapping 3d window. It doesn't have to be a completely off limit area of the screen. You don't have to toss it out completely as others are suggestion, just make it more user friendly. (perhaps toggle the 3d ship?)
Lag- you've got it. And its bad. I'm running on Cable, and an above average rig. If I can't handle it, then there is a problem. with my setup i can safely represent a slightly above average gamer setup, thus allot of your target audience. The fact it's not just me also states that it's not a hardware problem on my end. I'm sure you are probably already working on that though.
This is all probably wasted text as you are already working on it, but we need feedback on our feedback.
Sincerely -Camo

Nice Update... first mission... my drones and railguns do nothing !!! to the rogue drones, they come up to 2002m and stay friendly *rofl*. Wait they all together for a nice tea time??? What can i do? Cancel and get a lower state by my agent... nice... thank you. :-(
I can not activate automatic shooting with my railguns, my celeron 1,8 mhz laptop sucks and stuck stuck stuck stuck... in the past, i could play eve with very liquid motion, now i do slideshow-looking. *wow*
And what do CCP with the Sound? Uggly whispering.. no clear voice and so piano. Nice look, but terrible not-playable-update!!! I'm more than disappointed!!!

New version is EXTREAMLY slow rendering, my ship does not display except rarely, in station I see no ship at all.
I have a GeForce FX Go5200, and it worked great until the latest upgrade...
The framerate is like 1 Frame per second, unplayable
Are you offering money back for unused subscriptions if new patch requires a entire new computer to play?
The performance is terrible, really, I tried low detail, turned off all effects, still unplayable

Edited by: U7 BusInessMan on 10/03/2009 23:04:08 Edited by: U7 BusInessMan on 10/03/2009 23:03:45 It has been said many times before, but still I am going to say it again ^^
Auto patch is not working for me, I have been trying to find versions and versions, and then build for hours on the net (because we do not find those important information on the eve online main page)
well the game is still not working
The ideas of the patch looked pretty good, and yet the patch deployement is a complete failure....
Make sure to tell us what happenned, I think we deserve to know :) We wont blame you if you tell us, we would if you do not...
regards
Till now, my first problem with ccp and the game hope you are going to solve this

who was the one who decided it was a good idea for the patch to delete itself after installation ??
LOADS of people are running double accounts and I know some people running over 10 accounts. Do you really expect them to download 1390mb 10 times ????
I usually don't complain about bugs and whatnot...post patch syndrome really doesn't bug me it always gets straightend out, but this is just D U M B ______________________________________ "There are NO bugs in EVE, just oversights" ----- Oveur and TomB, EvE fanfest 2006 |

time to invest in a better gcard as yours is now considered bottom of the ladder
i got a 8300 hybrid sli linked to an 8500gt in boost mode and even i feel the age of my gcard and will now have to start saving for a nice gfx card to replace it (cos i run 3 ac's from 1 pc) SIG: if my message has spelling errors its cos i fail at typing properly :P |

How do I get the premium lite experience? Or put another way ... I downloaded the 1.3 Gb patch, which would only patch my premium copy of EVE...
Previously I used to have two seperate installs, one premium one classic. I now can't patch the classic, only the premium. But I like the performance of the "old" classic client, how do I make the premium client, the premium "lite" client --- aka "old" client?

there is only 1 client
there is the optimise for performance option that sets the low detail settings that basically renders the client "premium lite" SIG: if my message has spelling errors its cos i fail at typing properly :P |

The knew fitting screen looked beautiful. For an old player it is going to be boring not being able to see the gun because of ammo, for a new player it is going to be a "casse tOte" as we say in french

Download once, then copy the directory?
I run three clients from one install without problems anyway... no need for multiple install unless you use multiple boxes. If you do, manually download and copy over.

the good:
1: New graphic effects, finally, my railguns look mean, and tanking effects look like theyre doing what they say they do, rather than making our ships glowy in irrelevant ways
2: ship loadout save/swapping feature.
3: t3 ships
The bad
Completely unbearable for the vast majority of the population. Why did you force a beta stage patch out just to meet a deadline?
The Ugly
WTH happened to our ship fitting screens, I dont need to see my ship twice in station, and EFT has so far done a better job of showing us our EHP and sustained defense. hire those guys.

I don't like it. Correction: I hate it. The new graphics are too dark and they give me a headache. I miss the old warp effect. I have issues with the new fitting screen. The sound effects are terribly imbalanced. And I have no idea what to think of the new wormholes because I refuse to participate in the horrid circus scanning has become. I had all the right probes, I had all the right skills and equipment for scanning the way it was. I was a master of exploration. I even spent hours writing a guide for my corporation. Now it is all useless. My mentally handicapped relatives could figure out the new scanning on their own. I think I might be as challenged playing WOW. Someone said there are scattered players walking away from their accounts and demanding their money back. I'm seriously contemplating joining their ranks.

Where do I download the patch to take me from version 83913 to the playable one?
This is by far, THE worst attempt at a game upgrade.

The second patch should automatically download after you restart eve. Then you have full version.

Ok I've read a lot of this and so far my experience has been:
The sound is unbalanced. b4 - Eve audios all around 4-6, headphone volume mid range, computer volume max.
now - Eve audios all maxed up to 10 across the board and my headphone and computer volume up to max. In a station it's LOUD, and in space I can't hear crap, barely hear the EVE voice (well semi ok), can't hear sonic boom going into warp or leaving warp, can't hear the warp gates (sometimes I hear them), can't hear my engine wind up when I direct my ship in a different direction, the guns are muffled, the missiles hitting my ship barely make and explosion sound, hear little clicks when the salvager goes on (I do like to swoosh when a ship is completed salvaging though).
and Tech II guns (blasters)lost their sex appeal

Edited by: Shinigami Rem on 10/03/2009 23:44:44 I havent encounterd many problems, at least that i have seen. i do have to say that the new scan probe system is messed up. i cant identify what i find in a scan and i cant see were its located which really dont matter i guess since i couldnt warp to it. i do like the new univerce map is better but the round about way of getting to the solar system map isnt as easy as it use to be. i have to say that the old system was better than what it is now. of coarce the option of user error is a posability if thats the case we need a guide for it.
side note the new skill training quee isnt working like i thought it would. it keeps cutting in and out and not training my skills unless i hit apply again.

Logged in and out several times. Not able to right click and mount equipment to ships from my hanger. Can't start implants, can't even drag items from hanger to corp hanger or cargo bay.
Also when trying to get to a jump gate I got a message saying criminals are not allow and I was targetted. My Sec status is >.01.
Seems there are a few bugs here and there that need to be worked out. Also the sound seems strange...off. Things are quieter and I have not been in a battle, if what I am reading is correct, I def want to be able to hear other lasers/effects not just my own. Can't speak of it first hand yet. |

Sweet mother of god! I love what you've done! Scanning is awesome! As is the new fitting screen, effects, graphics, right down to the "don't show ANY welcome screens" option! Woohoo!
Patching worked fine on one computer but the other one needed to be manually patched. No problems though, in either case.
Wormholes are so beautiful, can I get a screensaver effect like that? When I was on SiSi, I was just parking my ship in front of one to watch it.
A big thank you to you all for all the hard work.
...and I mean it! I really like the new scanning system. A suggestion, make it possible to change the centerpoint of the map to the are where I am scanning. When I am trying to lock down something on the edge of a system, it takes a lot of fighting with the map to be able to get a good 3d look at what I am scanning - to make sure that the probes are all covering that point. If there is already a way to do it, I haven't found it.
