Typical as usual patch day CCP SUCK correct patches never available, full download normally a couple days later.
One day ccp may get it right, but not holding out much hope for them

Redownloading the manual 75883 -> 84244 patch (1.39gig) again from the start.
Sister thought it would be funny to exit the download box, hopefully this time it will work :)

The autopatch will not work on the classic client. The Premium autopatch worked just fine. All I did was copy the eve folder to my backup computer that was running classic, and it is running no problem. If you were running classic prior to the update, I would highly recommend you do a complete fresh install with the full Client. The only fight worth fighting is the one you should lose. |

Edited by: morlich on 10/03/2009 23:22:30 Edited by: morlich on 10/03/2009 23:20:08 Come on CCP it's not rocket science to post straight forward simple links to your downloads. Why am I stuck looking at some crap fictional news on your main page even though you've been advertising this update for months?
I am also left wondering why on the site for the new release there are the links: Home Storyline Features Interviews Screenshots Wallpapers Concept Art Free 14-Day Trial
Where is the "Download" link? If you are having difficulties with the HTML for a link please check here and stop wasting your time creating flash content and wasting bandwidth posting interviews and trailers. That is my money and my time you are wasting! Not happy!
P.S. I tried downloading the full install from your own site and spent ages downloading what turned out to be the old client I already had (incompatible). Why is that still there? I want answers. If you were working for me and rolled out with your site in this mess you'd all be out of a job.

Ok, we are 5 for 5 on this one.
First, this is on the Mac.
I have twice tried the auto-patch. Each time took 3+ hours. No joy.
Have thrice (don't get to use that word every day :-)) tried the manual download. Now, these only took 15-30 minutes! Much better. But again no joy.
Automatic unzipping and untaring in Safari 4 fails.
When I attempt a manual unzip/untar, I get the following message:
gunzip evepremiumpatch75883-84244-mac.tgz gunzip: evepremiumpatch75883-84244-mac.tgz: invalid compressed data--format violated
A hint for the future: give Mac users .dmg files. They work great. You can compress them with zip or StuffIt and get great compression.
The file up on the server is clearly corrupted. How long will it take to clean this up and get something we can download?
It is never a good day to day! |

So far I have:
Manually installed the patch and even though it showed the correct version the status was still incompatible;
So, I uninstalled all copies of EVE (I had a Sisi copy too) and installed the 75883 from CCP's website, but the auto-patch still din't start;
Then I downloaded the patch from CCP's website and got a checksum error while applying;
Now I trying to download the full 84244 package (even though it's not published on any link, I just guessed the file name based on CCP naming convention).
The last I have no results yet as it will take 1hr to finish the DL...

Autopatcher suggested that i downloaded the new build, after about 4 hours it downloaded (not sure on which drive exactly, though), started unpacking and the runned out of disk space (it didn't warn how much is needed beforehand). New .exe file has already installed, but it just won't run, so i uninstalled it completely.

The patcher is working but it's only giving me 40-50kb/sec download speeds. Is there something I can do to speed this up or am I better off just trying again later?

Sorry but those 2 client downloaders are bull****!
Why dont you put an Direct Link avaible or an .torrent file to use another torrent manager? Both ways i could PAUSE the download.
It isnt everyone that has GREAT connections, mine is only 2MBPS but now it got to 30KB/s. If i had an torrent file, i could download faster and SEED.
**** what are your problem people we're paying for this! Release a .torrent file! crap!
If you release and torrent file, everyone would be happier cause everyone would download faster(as the ones who fineshed the download would seed it too).
RELEASE IT! AFF

I had problems with autopatcher not starting to download at all. After waiting for sorry ass ******* to finaly crawl out of their holes and address us users on how to correct this issue for over 12h I took the matters into my own hands. Sorted the thing by downloading the patches by hand myself and running them manualy:
http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/evepremiumpatch75883-84244_m.exe This one is 1.3GB gets you the new Apo-epic-patch-fail splash screen and got my client to 83913 version, then
http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/evepremiumpatch83913-84244_m.exe This one is 13.23Mb and made the client the actual version capable of connecting and playing.

Confirming this; the first patch (75883-84244) didn't do it all the way, but the second one (83913-84244) got it working. Thanks for the link. :)

Sometimes for major releases I like to uninstall and install a full client for freshness or whatever.
Anyway, I'm on 58% since about 2pm this afternoon. Possibly the slowest download I've had for years
I don't really want any of the Sleeper tech, I just want to see how everyone is doing with the new stuff ================

First of all, I am a linux user. I know you abandoned us, but as explained in the forums, we weren't using the official linux version, as Wine runs EVE just fine. Cedega is evil, what with their charging subscription fees for free software. You should have just hired some wine developers to fix wine so it runs EVE really well.
Okay, rant done, the autopatcher failed saying it needed BITS. I spent 3 hours this morning trying to get BITS to work in wine. Long story short I think I totally pooched my wine before I gave up. The manual patch failed requiring BITS. The link to the manual download crashed wine. The full installer required BITS. This all ****es me off.
I think I've found a work around and I'm half done downloading the RTP for the patch that required BITS. I'm hoping it won't try to use BITS if it already has the RTP file.
But seriously, if I wasn't the type of person to try really hard to fix things myself without help, I would have already submitted a petition and demanded 3 months of free play for my inconvenience. Always make the alternatives obvious please. |

You are still broken!
Ok, I thought it might be a compatibility issue with Safari 4, so I went and did a direct download of the patch via Firefox 3.
No joy!
Given the error messages I am seeing, you have one of two problems:
- The download process is corrupting the package - highly, higly unlikely!
- The package you uploaded is corrupted - much more likely
While 1 would be difficult to fix, 2 is very easy to fix. Someone needs to create a new patch package and upload it to the servers and push it out to the CDN edge.
Will CCP be giving those of us who could not get on today, and wasted a lot of time trying to get things to work, a refund or credit for the FUBAR of a day we have here?
Is someone from CCP actually going to get online and respond to the issue we have here? Give an update? How about some support?
It is never a good day to day! |

Ok just got this to work myself right now, with 2 steps. Just download from those and it should work.
1) http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/EVE_Premium_Setup_84063.exe
2) http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/evepremiumpatch84063-84244.exe
Thanks to ISpydeRI for giving the info, just thought I would repost from another thread.

I got a huge problem here.
I have spent a good portion of the day downloading over a Gigabyte-sized update. After successfully installing the update, I went ahead and downloaded the patch that came after. But as soon as the patch was downloaded, a window came up and told me that the installation failed. I tried to restart Eve Online, but then a pop-up window told me that my client has corrupted and I need to reinstall. It does that now everytime I restart Eve. How do I go around this problem?
Thank you.
