I've submitted a bug report already but just thought I'd let some people know... probably fruitless since this thread will vanish from the first page in a few hours but hey ho.
When you recall drones, they don't always come back to your drone bay. In the past, Warrior IIs (well, any small drones, but esp. Warriors as they were so fast) had a bug where sometimes you'd "recall to drone bay" but they'd come at you so fast, they'd overshoot you and keep orbitting at about 1600 meters, never actually getting in range to get into your bay. The way to bring them in was to then right click and "return and orbit" so they'd slow down, then "return to drone bay" after about 5 seconds. Bit annoying but meh.
I've noticed even medium and large drones are doing this occationally. Not every time but... about 10% of the time now.
Yup.. even Ogres :D
I *wish* Ogres could go as fast as Warriors when I send them after someone

This is hardly new. Warrior IIs have been doing this to me ever since I could use them. Order a "Return and orbit" then scoop when they pull this. |

Did you even read my post?
I know warrior IIs do this. In fact I said, Warrior IIs have done this for ages.
The thing is, since Apoc has been released, medium and even large drones are doing this as well. I've never had it happen with Ogre IIs before. Ever. Although I'm willing to entertain the possibility they've done it once or twice for people. However they've done it 3 times in an hour to me since Apoc has been released.

It would seem I didn't.
Haven't noticed it happening to non-warrior IIs yet. |

I have had it happen to non-warriors but I just hit recall to drone bay, then if stuck, hit orbit, then recall to drone bay. I get all my drones back no problem.
I think it has something to do with having maxed drone skills.

Noticed one of my Hobgoblins zipped right past my ship today when I recalled my drones, and then it just shut off. I had to fly up to it and scoop it.
I was around when drones stopped short of scoop range and then went into follow mode, but this was the first time for what I described.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

It used to be a combination of having high Drone Navigation skills and using small drones (especially Warrior IIs). They were basically too fast and would overshoot your ship. Instead of coming to a stop, they'd try to turn around and they'd overshoot you again, effectively orbitting you at stupid MWD speeds, never getting within the 1500m needed to be recalled properly.
Warrior IIs did this the most often but I've had it happen with Hobgoblin IIs (never on tech 1 drones but then I've not used tech 1 drones in so long, maybe it does it with them too, I just never used them to find out :) )
However something's happened in this patch because medium drones shouldn't do it and definately not heavies.
I'm currently waiting for Sentries to start doing it lol

I realized that I had lost three of my hobgoblin II's last night. Normally, I just recall them to the drone bay and warp back to the station after a mission. I know they were undamaged at the end of the mission, but when I went to do the mext mission I had only two left :(
Next time I'm going to pay close attention and see what's up.

Yup I've had this happen with Hammerhead II's yesterday. I recalled them while moving away from their former target and 3 of them just did 1 orbit of my ship then shut themselves off, as if I'd pressed "Abandon drone". Had to turn around and scoop them up.
