Originally by: Sidpai Bardo In support of Eve i bought my copy of Eve at Best Buy. I had a really hard time finding it. Best Buy put Eve in the children and family section on the bottom shelf next to dora the explorer. So I moved 20 copies or so to a better location next to WOW.
Anyone else see the flaw in this deed? Now were going to have people that seriously debated picking wow instead.

Well, I found my retail box through NewEgg at a price below all others including shipping. However, I have to say that IF all the details of this "Special Edition" had been fully divulged, I likely wouldn't have bothered to order it. In order to get the special items and faction points you MUST create a totally new account. Of course, you are free to transfer the items to another account thereafter...

Sad news, i went to EB games yesterday, on one of New Zealands more busy streets and was told they were going to get some, but that the order had been cancelled, i wasent the first to ask either.
I guess its not too big a loss as i was only going to buy the box edition to support CCP, any news on what is going on CCP? --------------------------

Edited by: Dredd Robbertz on 17/03/2009 22:00:39 Edited by: Dredd Robbertz on 17/03/2009 21:59:01 Unfortunately, lack of retail availability seems to be the benchmark of Atari marketing and distribution, particularly in Oceania. It is telling that nothing at all could be found about Eve-O on Atari's website. I have heard of a few other MMOs that experienced the same scenario down under, namely cancelled orders and no retail placement due to "lack of any interest by anyone whatsoever". Obviously you wanted to purchase the game, but the Ataritards just can't seem to realize that... My advice is to try to find it online at a site that will ship it to you.

I rang Atari Customer Service here in Australia they told me that it seems Australia And New Zealand might have to wait quite awhile for EVE-online boxed mayby after June 2009.
there is suppose to be an agreement between the developer and Atari Australia if the developer is going to release the title in Australia.
CCP you do have quite a lot of players living in Australia and New Zealand wishing to get the game instores.
As a player i would recomend that CCP get the boxed version to Australia & New Zealand soon as possible, i have told people where i live about this title eve-online and there is a lot of intrest. |

I pre-ordered in the Netherlands my box on the 10th. The 13th it was no longer available, now it says available the 27th.
Way_to_go Atari! You had a bloody 3 months to distribute the box.

Canada Update: It seems both Future Shop and Best Buy have it listed and in stock. Time to go make sure it's on the right shelf (and go snag a copy, of course.)

Thanks for your tenacity there 45thtiger! I am gonna go Hassle Atari as well. Maybe they might pull their fingers out a bit if there appears to be some interest.

Thank you 45thtiger. I can inform all our friends down under that CCP is absolutely not holding anything back and preventing the distribution of the box in Australia.
Quite the opposite, we are doing everything we can to expedite this process and we are waiting to get a response from Atari regarding Australia and New Zealand.
I will update this thread when I have more information.

That would explain why when I asked at my local GAME shop last week they told me head office had cancelled the boxed edition of EVE out of their database, despite it oreviously being listed online as "coming soon"
Originally by: Zeko Rena I read Australia has banned the sale of MMO's in Australia because they dont fit under Australias stupid broken rating system :(
I recall something about it in the news recently. This link may prove informative reading. Our legislature and various government agencies tend to make ... curious decisions.

Thank you for finding a link, i lost the link and couldent find info on it again, im guessing the chance of getting it in New Zealand depends if Australia gets it, i doubt they would ship it just for us in New Zealand.

Sooo...
If you read the article carefully you see the line:
Quote:
The only two MMOG titles we've been able to locate that are presently on shelves in Australian stores and that are in compliance are Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (rated 'M' for "moderate fantasy violence"), and EVE Online (rated 'PG' for "mild violence, Gaming experience may change online").
It appears the Eve-Online is classified and can be sold on Australian shelves.

Edited by: Zeko Rena on 26/03/2009 04:19:59 According to this website:
http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/PC-Games/EVE-Online/2751183/
30th of September, lul, what the hell.
Thats pretty epic Atari, not sure how accurate that date is, but usually that website is pretty accurate :)
But then theres an article on there website stating that the release date is set for march 18th
http://www.mightyape.co.nz/news/EVE-Online-release-date-set/11935/
So confusing! --------------------------

Another note about "GAMESTOP"
If you are buying the box, as I am, for the "collectibility value", don't bother with GAMESTOP.
Every copy in every store I visited was opened, and the media kept behind the counter.
The whole point of a collectible is mint condition, unopened and un-used.
GAMESTOP is fail in this regard, sadly.
They cite "company policy" and the usual minimum wage clerk drivel as an excuse.

Actually it is Company Policy. I worked at Gamestop back when they were called Babbages/Software Etc. It has always been company policy to open all of their games that are on the shelf and put the software behind the counter leaving the box out for display purposes. This helps cut their cost of "stolen product" You really don't have any idea on how many young kids go into the game store and steal a case thinking they are stealing the game. Some Gamestop stores might have a few copies with only 1 display copy out on the floor. It's worth a try to ask. Otherwise find a store that doesn't do this if you are really wanting an unopened copy.
