These are all useless to me. I have absolutely no interest in using them.
Maybe they should take them out. I'm certain I'm not the only person who these functions are useless for.
lmao you made my morning with that one :P
Wonder why OP hasn't thought of naming a can "my modules" or something, open can, control+a to select all, drop in hanger, load saved ship fitting, then pop un-used stuff back into can. Not that complex.
But still clunky. Just because there are workarounds it doesn't make the initial issue moot, it just allows fanboys or dissenters to make comments that add little to nothing to the discussion on how to improve.
Hahahah ... I've been called a fanboy! HAHAHAHA!!!
On a separate note, instead of saying it's useless, it's probably more accurate to say that it could use some extra features added to it. Because, as even the detractors have posted, it's NOT useless ... it just doesn't do the job the way they WANT it to.
Could it be a better system? For sure.
Are the complainers still laughable for their limited interpretation of how the game should be? Yes, yes they are.

I did not call you a fan boy, I simply pointed out two of the leading types of people that recommend workarounds for existing issues while treating the implied issue as if it is ridiculous.
I agree that it is not useless as it actually does do something; however it could have been implemented in a way that either didn't alter the way an unknown number of people currently store their items or provided them another method to keep their items organized in a way that would work with the utility. --------------------------------------

Having massive problem with the saved fitting. I did a few from my office PC before I left. Both to corp and personal. Now that I'm home, none of them shows up and I see 2 Abaddon fit in corp that I did not see while at the office while none of what I see at the office PC is showing up in my home PC. Also, my corpmates are seeing different things then I do and not seeing what I see. Anyone having the same problem?
So, I don't really care if it wil ltake stuff from cans, I just need the damn thing to work in the first place

Maybe just dump it all out into the hanger now though it would be nice if the new mechanic could use stuff in cans.
Edit: errm why is the word fitta censored? The Google shows nothing.
Try google images for that word...
It's more or less the Swedish c-word...

Edited by: Ockham Zaber on 11/03/2009 21:31:10 The ship fitting feature works fine for me and I have no issues with it. In my stations, I always keep all my stuff in one of four containers: Keep; Sell; Salvage; and Minerals. I sort everything I loot into one of those four containers.
Now when I want to fit a ship, I simply select everything from my "Keep" container, drop it into the hanger floor, choose the Saved fit from the list, click Fit, drop everything left on the hanger floor back into my "Keep" container.
Much faster than the old way of searching for stuff then manually fitting it to the ship.
In addition, it is nice to be able to export the fits and import them into a different character or share them with a friend. I can see BattleClinic (or similar site) adding the ability to download these type of files to their site in the future.

I've never bothered sorting my stuff into containers. I can see the advantage, but I know the rough position in the hangar ordering each item type occupies anyway. Retrieving items from containers to load fittings may have too large a performance impact, or may even be beyond the capabilities of the current way containers work. |

I've seen the EveMon and EFT options on BC. Has there been a way to download a file from BattleClinic that you can use/import directly into Eve Online to auto-fit your ships in-game before Apocrypha was released?

…also, now that I set up a temporary base in a station and couldn't be arsed to sort in containers, I noticed that the load setup function didn't work all that well at all.
Some mondules fail to load completely, no matter what. Scripts and the like are sometimes (but not always) missing. The fitter complains that modules are not available — most notably when several of the same module are fitted on the ship — when there are tons of the things lying about in the hangar.
So not that handy to begin with, and buggy when actually usable. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Personally, I love it.
Because now I don't have to sort all my crap into cans, I just assemble my ship and load the fit, put ammo in the hold and undock.

Unfortunatly having a floor full of junk is not very effecient when your trying to sort through the new loot from a mission/gank though I guess that could moastly be done from the cargohold window.
A can labeled "unsorted" worked for me back in my mission days. Every so often when it got full I would sort it into the "sale" can and "Reprocess" can. The big station containers work nice for those.

perhaps the point of saving fittings is so you DONT have to sort your mods anymore. How convenient is that?

Make it possible to mark any container so that the fitting thingy will look in it for the needed modules. Also, make sure it _remembers_ what containers were marked for the next time...

Not very since that's not why I put my mods in a container. If that's the supposed point, then it misses the real point by roughly a mile… ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Or you work around the whole "stuff in containers" problem, by keeping everything in your items hangar. Allows for easy searching, and you can even sort loot that way:
Keep one module of each type you want to keep repackaged. Then sort your items hangar before dumping your loot into it, so they're all next to each other.
Then dump your loot to the end, and "stack all".
Voila: All valuable modules stack up with something above, and all that's left at the end is probably free to reprocess.

Well, I use the 'save' by just putting 'crap' and all stuff I don't need into containers and keeping my fitting stuff in my main hangar as a container it self... This way - I still got little stuff in my main hangar bay, the only necessary stuff and the rest is nicely sorted in my station containers. ------------------------

I gave up using station containers to sort modules a long time ago. They should be removed from the game. Too much hassle.
The saved fittings button is a nice tool to have. Nothing was overlooked in its design.

this could all be solved a lot easier if they'd just give us bloody tabs for our hangar so we didn't have to use cargo boxes ------------------- |

Edited by: small chimp on 16/03/2009 23:12:34 there could be an option to set fitting container? that fitting screen would then try to fetch modules from that specific container?
But i am sure that ccp is just too arrogant to add that kind of a feature?
Now its pain to use due to active market trading...

This is pretty much on the todo list with various other improvements, like looking in corp hangar and some other cool ****. But we decided to rather polish what we have and put some stuff on the backlog instead of risking putting a broken feature out.
I've never put my stuff into containers, never found the need to so I wonder why do you do it? It seems like a fix to a problem that we (CCP) should be solving for you. _______________ |

I don't use containers for fittings either, I must confess. What's the point? It's not like I run out of space in my hangars.

My apartment is generally sort of tidy although my girlfriend is the driving force behind that but my desk at work is a mess. So is my virtual space in EVE. I have assets scattered all across the galaxy and nothing is set in containers. However I spend very little time rummaging through all this mess as I mostly just fit and refit my ships.
Seems to be what you guys should really be asking for is better sorting and searching in the item containers. _______________ |

a cool thing to have would be to load fitting, if you didnt have the item in your hangar then a pop would come up saying , you have no web in hangar would you like to buy item from market and would link you straight to market tab for said item
