Before posting in the info portal I thought i might post here just to see if anyone has/had similar issues after installing new client.
Since the upgrade my general fps has been more than cut in half. Not done too much so far, just warping, in/out stations and cyno'ing. always apprehensive after patch :)
Before patch just sitting in station i used to get about 180fps with all shiney stuff enabled. But now am getting about 80-90fps when the client is in the 'optimised for performance' option.
Setup: Core2 Duo E8500 (2 x 3.16GHz) 4Gb DDR10666 2 x Nvidia GTX280 running 2 monitors in 1920x1200 each Striped Velociraptor HDD's
Even when just running one client on one monitor I still have the same issue. :(
Anyone else had something similar and found a resolution?

Wait...you're complaining about 80-90 FPS? That's perfectly acceptable. If it bugs you too much, set your client to "interval one" and it'll force something lower so you don't have to worry ----------------------------------- "What can go wrong, will go wrong." |

Ok, may have jumped the gun a little. I enabled all the shiney stuff again in the graphics menu including the resource cache and after another relog it's now better, getting about 120-130fps in station and in space it's better to. But it's still not as good as before patch :(

Yes, I would.
If you bought a Ferrari and it suddenly lost half its horsepower but was technically still 'quite fast', would you investigate

It might be because they upgraded the full premium client to use SM3....I dunno...
If I turn of vsync off on my client, the FPS jumps to 170...so, maybe your end? (ATI 3850 HD) ----------------------------------- "What can go wrong, will go wrong." |

Set the "presentation" to "interval immediate" and it will turn off. Some cards may not like it though...(overheating). ----------------------------------- "What can go wrong, will go wrong." |

Personally, I am just happy my 5 year old laptop manages 20 fps on low settings. When I first logged into the game with the settings on high the 7 fps in station, when sitting idle, was not encouraging. Luckily looks like I can play for now...

945GM is not really a modern GPU it's for running windows in an office automation environment (surfing or entering a DB). That's all.
It's a tiny chip that costs a couple bucks and has really no GPU transistors in a traditional sense.

This makes no sense because the human eye can't see past 60 FPS anyway. Going down to 80-90 means nothing lol.
When you get below 30 then it can get a bit laggy. Under 20 chop.. below 17 .. forget it. Those are FPS problems.
Your rate dropped because of the shaders of course they are math intensive and your system is operating normally lol. (to original poster)

You should NOT turn vsync off (i.e. "Interval Immediate"). You should leave the game at "Interval One".
Reason ? FPS > monitor refresh rate == FAIL.
For starters, if your monitor can't display it, why the frak would you bother calculating it in the first place. And not just that, but it may also lead to serious overheating of the graphics card and a host of other problems in case your system has no temperature-triggered protections.

8 FPS here, thoguh my computer is so old it would brobably be quicker for me to get out some paper, call up my eve-chums and 'go manual'

Edited by: Euriti on 12/03/2009 06:29:26 Strangely, my 8800 gives me more fps now, namely 140+

Yes, all sounds so good on paper except for the fact that it doesn't feel as fast with vsync on as it is without it on, even on a 60 Hz monitor

[email protected], 8GB ram, 4870x2, [email protected] max 30-70 FPS. With Bloom and HDR off I am at 80-160 fps
PS: I allways have VSync off as it reduce overal performance and could create response lags.

At one point just before i relogged and started playing with settings i was down to about 10-15fps just sat next to a gate with nothing happening! I'm dreading going into a 400-500 man fleet fight
110fps in warp, outside stations. 90fps doing GE L4 in highsec. 100 fps ratting in 0.0 4 fps trying to kill people wile 30 people were on grid gatecamping.

To the OP:
Have you checked your driver version (open up nVidia control panel - it's a right-click option on your desktop, click "help/System Information")?
I'm running a pair of 8800GT's in here with 181.22 drivers and my framerates are about the same as they were on QR.
Actually higher in places (mission deadspace I've seen around a 10% increase in FPS) - and that's with all the shineys switched on. ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |
