Not that it would really be the key to this being a good game, but i really think that some cool ambient radio chatter would be awesome. Maybe in highly populated regions you could have a lot, but in lower populated areas just a little or none at all. Its a big universe in eve, but with all those ships and stations you figure you would here a lot more talking going on. Plus you could always make it so users could turn off/down the chatter if they wanted.

I agree - make crowded systems like Jita sound more like they've got heavy traffic with radio chatter from docking control similar to the chatter from faction police/customs.

I love this. Especially if I picked up ambient chatter while scanning.
Probes, onboard scanner, white noise and lost radio signals? Awesome for ambiance!

Great idea. It would be a little spooky if you hear a ghostly distress call in a w-space. You know, from all those people who are stuck :)

/signed. And while they're at it they can update the in-station chatter. It's the same 30 seconds looped infinitely isnt it?

I'm afraid that would go against the general canon in the game, all the communications are strictly monitored and secured to their own channels, should try reading the chronicles.

Yeah but that's boring. Adding ambient radio signals would add a lot of atmosphere to the game.

I'm all for immersion and roleplay depth, but I'm against this. For one, I'd imagine Fluid router communication wouldn't be subject to the same static as analog radio; I could be completely wrong, but radio chatter in EVE videos annoys me. Secondly, sound like this, especially in crowded systems, would get annoying very fast (like that old chattering station voice in Gallente stations). And last, arbitrarily assigning voices to pod pilots, even ambiguous radio chatter, removes self determination from the player.

Since I'm oin the club that wasn't silent stations, I also have to say no to this. The only chatter I want to overhear is the enemy fleet orders and movments

While your arguements do make sense, youre basing your opinion off of the past attempts at this. CCP didnt really go into making the chatter a real thing, they just looped a 30 second audio clip in different areas. It might be hard to set up in the server, but then they could just make it an audio track or something that you could switch or turn down. My idea obviously isnt a finalized copy, just something i think they could make work. The music is amazing in eve. But like you said with the old ambient chatter, everything gets annoying after awhile and id like sometihng new. |

Should try flying close to a CONCORD frigate. They actually have radio chatter already.
So it doesn't seem to conflict the canon. I also don't think that pirates, sleepers, terrorists and so on would give a bleeding frell about Empire Communications Regulations.

Eve has sound?
I haven't played with the sound turned on for years because of the continous background noise when docked.
If you want more noise, just get a recording of some "cool ambient radio chatter" and put it on loop using an external player: see how long you leave that "feature" on before suggesting that the developers spend time adding it.

I was scanning in w-space last night and got some of this. It was cool --

I think it would be something cool to add for missions. I also think it would be kind of neat if there was an in-game radio that would allow you to tune-in to EVE news, or other game related stuff, you could spin the dial and maybe hear a pirate broadcast or something as mundane as a docking operation. Even if the chronicles say that communication is strictly regulated, they could write some excuse for it.
