When i was playing around with neural remap a few mins ago i found that if i bosted my intelligence attribute to the max base it gave me +2 rather then +1 when i put in the final attribute
i emptied all my attributes so everything was at 5 i have a +3 implant for int and +8 from skills in int... i started putting the attributes in int and then at teh last one it jumped from 24 to 26?!? can anyone fill me in as to why this happened
also in teh area where it says attributes from skills there are 14 spaces but u can only get +10 from the skills is there a way to get the other four

Did you factor in the bonus from training Learning to IV/V? ---

It is the effect of the "Learning" skill as Kaitou Shiroi suggested.

Max you can see on your char sheet is 33 (15+10+5+learning). If you are above that then you have managed to get extra point.

Attributes are displayed ROUNDED DOWN in-game. Actual values used are UNROUNDED values.

Personal pet peeve: Rounding down doesn't exist. You round things according to certain rules and that adjusts the value up or down. There are no rounding rules that display a 24.9 as 24.
EVE truncates, which means that it just cuts of digits. In EVE's case, everything after the decimal point.

You can round to nearest (with a whole lot of ways of rounding to nearest which treat x.5xxx differently, including stuff like "round to even", for instance), round up, round down, round towards zero (==truncate), round away from zero... and many other ways of rounding exist too. Since attributes can't be negative, in this particular case truncating and rounding down are one and the same thing.

Edited by: Scientist Jill on 12/03/2009 22:36:21 It's called floor() and the opposite is ceil()

Actually small correction - we'd need some example of negative numbers to determine if it's floor() ceil() or trunc(), floor and trunc work the same for positive numbers, though.

Yet you were not confused as to what was meant. Which is why most non-scientists/mathematicians will say some variant of rounding down as opposed to truncate or floor. You can call it Suger Roll if you want, but if no one understands you, it's not very effective. Laypersons understand round down and round up in a given context.

there are some people that did not assign all 5 discretionary points. Those people might find themselves getting the extra points back. Otherwise you're just enjoying the effects fractional points. --

So you succeed at Mathematics and fail at English. One could say the same thing about deceleration. Mathematically there is no such thing as deceleration, in math you accelerate in the opposite direction. But this isn't mathematics class, so the distinction is irrelevant. In Language, there is such thing as deceleration and yes, rounding down.
I once ran into a cop that insisted he wasn't a cop, he was a police officer. "COP stands for Citizen on Patrol" he insisted. Like you he is only partially right. In legal circles COP might be an acronym for Citizen on Patrol, but for normal English speakers cop is not an ancronym, it's a contraction of copper--a reference to the copper badge police officers used to wear. Also, looking in a dictionary, there is no mention of "Citizen on Patrol" under cop.
Basically, keep your professional Jargon where it belongs. If you are talking to mathematician then you could make that argument and be right, but if you are using Jargon out of place, then you are the one that is wrong. In English, round is to express as a round number. If you express a higher number, then it is rounded up, if you express a lower number, then it is rounded down. Rounding up or down is not a reference to a means but a result. --
