gb2wow then. They are also SHARDED, which means more localized issues instead of cluster-wide. EVE isn't like that, so don't compare the two.
What about the occasional 2 hour log in queues that WoW experiences? WoW also experiences more unannounced maintenance, more unannounced rolling restarts, and more extended downtimes.

Guys,
CCP have put up a infomation topic right here in general - totally the best place to look for infomation with regards to this problem. Personally I wouldnt expect a quick resolution, CCP are certainly working on it and with a little prodding i am sure the infomation flow will be better;.
here is the topic.
lets all hope the performance gets fixed soon as is humanly possible, cause i for one would be loving the new expansion if not for the lag.
I assume this topic has served its purpose now wrangler has put a blue up, feel free to close mods.

Heh, I wouldn't know about all that because I don't play WoW. But yes, I've heard about that kind of stuff happening... ----------------------------------- "What can go wrong, will go wrong." |

What is the cause of the issue? How are you working to resolve said issue?
Honestly, what good does it do you to know these answers? If you know the cause of the issue does that help speed up the resolution in any way?
Having said that, I understand idle curiosity. I would be curious, one day, to find out what the problem was. But I would rather they just answer with "we're aware it's not resolved yet and are still working on it" and then go back to working on it, than stopping to explain why to someone who really doesn't genuinely need to know.

To the alarmists:
CCP puts out an expansion on cue almost twice a year, give them a break, they are working on it, and the issues with performance are not nearly as bad as some people in this thread are making them out to be. And stop thinking you are so entitled that the game cannot progress without your input on every tiny detail or being constantly kept in the loop like some overbearing trumped up admin with nothing but fluff on his resume who thinks things won't get done without his sad presence at every turn. It's no wonder things are the way they are these days with a couch administrator in every other household. The world will keep turning without your constant haranguing and ceaseless input, I promise!
To everyone else:
Patience. You're doing it right. _______________________________________________

Since the topic has been moved out of GD..
Originally by: CCP Wrangler We are aware that many of you have experienced sudden performance issues when playing EVE and we have two teams on two different continents working around the clock attempting to resolve this. They are closing in on the problem and have identified two probable causes. At this time, we canĘt say when the performance issues will be fixed, but we will continue to keep you up-to-date as more information becomes available.

Originally by: CCP Fallout We are aware of the problem, as I posted here. And we've been diligently working on trying to resolve it.
That's great but many of us have ignored the thread jita issues cus we don't go to jita, perhaps renaming the thread to "Empire Performance Issues" would be useful. ...

As a longtime paying member of the community I would hereby officially state that any and all people in this thread speaking for "the community" did neither ask nor receive my permission to speak for me. As such they are, at best, speaking for the community minus 1.
My estimate is that they are actually speaking for the community minus 175,000.

Err... WTF is particularly fair about this topic?
"Hello all,
blah-blah-blah...
For your convenience, a list of these threads are listed below:
- TQ performance issues: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1021208"
Why thank you - would that be that thread that was promptly locked? How does anyone posts/receives feedback into a locked feedback thread???
Let's try the main login screen: Server: Tranquility Status: OK
Like hell it is "OK" with totally quiet systems falling over. Would it not be nice (or at least respectful) to your customers to acknowledge the problem with more details like "the following systems are affected..." etc? Does not require a top "development guru" (who is so busy fixing the issues) to do it either...

its a topic for them to update us, and that is what was asked for.
what are you going to enlighten them with? "errr i am lagged?" - yes way to go with that.
there are also topics for generic feedback that you are able to update. i have to admit, all that said, the out of game petition tool could use looking at stability wise at the moment.
