Sent this as feedback, but would like other people's opinions.
- The galaxy map is as close to impossible to use as it can be, it is now all but impossible to navigate around and use. As if controlling it weren't bad enough, text pops up instantly over every star, adding to the frustration!
- You've removed the right-click menu on the directional scanner! Why on earth have you done this? It makes targeting in large battles MUCH harder without this function. And there is now no easy way to quickly get info on the ship you are tracking. Not only does the filtering not work properly, you've made it harder to read then it was before!
- You've removed the right click menu on the 'Solar system' map, again this just makes things more annoying, you can no longer quickly warp around using the system map.
- You've removed the ability to toggle between maps with the ctrl+mousewheel. WHY OH WHY DID YOU DO THIS? Just another pointless removal of something useful, which makes life just that little harder when you want to do things quickly.
- Probes! Their bubbles no longer change size depending on perspective, instead we've now got some daft shadow system instead. This makes it impossible to tell which is closer or further away on the system map! This is a 3D game is it not? Why on Earth was it done this way? The probe symbols themselves are excessively massive, and it's far too easy to click on entirely the wrong thing, and end up resizing a bubble by mistake, and you can't even do that when the text is behind it. AND WHY OH WHY do we get all these different looking results depending on how many probes find a signal, just extra pointless complications!
- The new fitting screen! - The perfect example of 'Style over functionality'. It is undoubtedly a lot prettier, but does FAR LESS! You can no longer simply drop mods onto the ship and they automatically fit into their slot. You can't quickly double click on the ship to open the cargo. Over all, it's just not as liner and simple as it was, it's less easier to quickly scan over what your fitting looks like and what your grid and CPU are doing. And we still can't check the fitting of another ship without making it active! This is just another old time-waster!
- Personal Assets window now tells me things that are stored in the same system as I am, are in fact 9 jumps away!
- The people and places window is in DIRE NEED of a revamp, yet you chose to fix the fitting screen, which was never broke in the first place! You can't move Bookmarks out of a folder once they are in it. There is no sensible order to Bookmarks that you make and DON'T put into a folder. When you're in space and you right click empty space to retrieve a bookmark, you have to navigate more unnecessary sub-menus for the folder to get to them. This is especially frustrating when you're trying to find one quickly.
- The market UI is equal in need of revamping, having to scroll down again every time you change tabs is a massive pain. Being told you can't sell an item because it's not repackaged ONLY ONCE you've reached the final window is another huge frustration.
- The item repair UI is also in need of updating. When you're dealing with hundreds of mods and you need to contract them, and it turns out several of them need repairing first, but ONLY TELLS You ONE of them! And doesn't indicate which that is out of several identical mods. This too is massively frustrating!
- Having a warning window pop up every time you open the corp wallet if you don't have the right access. THIS TOO is ANNOYING!
- Contracts. Likewise you only find out you can't contract an item for a particular reason, ON THE LAST WINDOW. Why can't it tell you BEFORE you try to contract it?!
- Station containers - Why can't you sell things from them. Why do you have to waste time moving them out of the container to do it? Why can't you see inside containers unless you are in the same station as the
/cue accusations of whining

Haven't checked all of this yet but I agree the UI definitely needed work and not in the way of making a prettier but more annoying fitting screen.

Thank you for taking note Fallout. I have already done this, and I merely posted it here so others could respond to it, hope that's cool. BTW, I have a few additions I've added too:
- It appears that the mission window is also now equally awkward to use, again because functionality has been removed.
- The overview settings seems bugged too. You can load settings into one tab, and it will mess up another tab. This whole system seems over complicated and poorly laid out too.
- If you change characters, the log only reports blank statements. You have to close it, wait a few minutes, then open it again to make it work.

I don't agree entirely with everything in the OP, but I do agree with a lot of it. Some things seem to work even worse in the new patch, too; for example, my overview now constantly misreports target ranges, or lists new targets as being at 0m (which is pretty alarming).
I would also like if my number one gripe with EVE was fixed: autopilot not warping to zero. Seriously, I don't mind travel taking time, but I don't like having to babysit my ship as it flies through completely safe space. It's completely possible to intercept and destroy ships that are being piloted by players, and it would be even easier to intercept and destroy ships being autopiloted. All the lack of autopilot WTZ does is makes moving back and forth across safe space a huge chore, and huge chores in every-day gameplay kinda ruin the fun.
I know the official CCP stance is "we don't want autopilot WTZ" but please reconsider it.
Anyway, here's one: it's hard to get a sense of where things are in space exactly because of how the camera is glued to the ship. It'd be nice if we could un-limber the camera and move it freely around the area we're in. That could give us a much better tactical perspective on all the action, and would help allow a better UI for actually moving the ship around.

in short stop trying to make things look better and make them work better. the assets window is a ****ing horrible **** up. it simply doesn't work 50% of the time, and the other 50% thinks 4 jumps away is 0jumps away.
this has been an issue for ccp since trinity , style over substance, like the graphics even matter. they were fine, but all this developmental effort to give us shinier ships when the ships actually need more than just a new paint job, AF's remember that promised boost, wheres the missing bonus ? too much pointless graphical **** and not enough making things work and function better.
its an insult really, like we are console gaming morons that are mesmerised by shiny new textures and pretty lights instead of gameplay.
CCP will really hate this post, its far too true and to the point for them.

The thing is that if that's what they want - new shiny stuff then why, for the love of god don't they employ people who know how to develop a 3D engine? Eve's is appalling and has been for 5 years+. Really.
We all love the game but the UI is dysfunctional and I'm sorry to say the entire 3D engine is junk. With each new release of hardware its becoming more and more apparent. Stop adding shiny stuff until you rewrite the engine.

Double click still opens your ship hold. (Honestly not hard to test man.)
And i find it easier to scan your power/cpu now. You'll get used to it.
Agree with the bookmark thing and the map thing

- The galaxy map is as close to impossible to use as it can be.....!
can't say i've had any problems with this.
- You've removed the right-click menu on the directional scanner.....
Use overview, add proper columns, sort by name?
- You've removed the right click menu on the 'Solar system' map, again this just makes things more annoying, you can no longer quickly warp around using the system map.
*shrug* agreed
- You've removed the ability to toggle between maps with the ctrl+mousewheel. WHY OH WHY DID YOU DO THIS? Just another pointless removal of something useful, which makes life just that little harder when you want to do things quickly.
THANK YOU CCP!!! seriously, ctrl-mousewheel was horribly annoying
- Probes! Their bubbles no longer change size depending on perspective, instead we've now got some daft shadow system instead. LOVE everything about new probes actually.

same as probes
- Personal Assets window now tells me things that are stored in the same system as I am, are in fact 9 jumps away!
Haven't happened to me

Why do you need to open corp wallet if you don't have access? I see no problem.

I sort of agree. The game was written on horrible code, and it's apparent every time you do almost anything that requires a database update such as adding a bookmark, setting a waypoint or buying something on the market. The game completely locks up for a few seconds everytime you do anything and all you can do is move the cursor. This is especially fun when trying to bookmark sites when exploring...
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

Not at all, But the ops complaint about it was that it made targeting difficult in large fleet battles, Not about info gathering BEFORE the battle.

Open repair, select repair all?
Repair All is only available when you have a ship selected in the Repair window. You can't "Repair All" on your entire hangar.

I can see that, but in total this change was totally unecessary, i've never personally used the scanner for locking targets, but for checking info (resists...etc).
Nonetheless the change was totally unecessary.
Also, when holding down ALT and using the directional scanner, if your ship moves that center you use to pinpoint flickers, and moves along the ships rotation axis. Making it very difficult to pinpoint stuff to 5 degree.

If you've been in a large battle, you'll undoubtably realise that ships move around constantly. This means that the order they appear in the overview constantly changes. The directional scanner guarentees you locked the ship you intended to lock first time. The overview simply isn't anywhere near as useful as the directional scanner 'was'.

That's why you sort by name, Not by distance.
Not to mention, what do you do if several of your enemies have the same ship names on the same ship type?
Since you won't be able to tell the difference on directional scanner i mean, show info on each of them?
Ooooooooh, not to mention that all current people on the overview gets frozen in place while ctrl is held down, And new ones are added at the bottom without moving the ones already there |
