I've just found something in an Unknown, through a wormhole. To me it looks like a black hole, just wondering if anyone else has found anything like this.
small vid of black hole

That is not what a black hole would look like at all actually. Also, if it were a black hole and you were that close, assuming you would actually live long enough to recognize it let alone see it due to it sucking in all light, you would see your ship stretch and spiral into an infinitely small point. --------------------------------------

to be exact, you would not see anything if you get sucked in cause no light comes back from a black hole ... (if it gets beyond the schwarzschildradius) if you are far enough away, you can see a black hole only indirect, cause the material getting sucked in ionise.

You could possibly "see" emissions from matter (such as particles coming off a nearby star) being sucked into it before it had passed the point where light can no longer escape. Very very simple terms but that's basically what I remember from what I have read about them.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

Approach it, and see if you can enter it? Maybe it's a wormhole that exits to Jove space or something.

I saw something in a system earlier that wasn't quite right. I couldn't click it or anything, and when I had entered the system it had said soemthing about ship systems not working as normal or the like. I didn't think to screencap it though
Didn't notice anything different on my covops though.

You all should read up on Event Horizons dealing with black holes. There would be very little noticeable changes as you approached the Event to you but to others further away you would appear to freeze in time.
You know you have played way to much Eve when you are in a car accident and run away so you dont get podded. |

I wasn't talking about the accretion disk, I was talking about the point beyond just beyond the event horizon where the typical rules of matter start to fly out the window since the screen shot the OP took and mistakenly thought may be a black hole looks to be byond the accretion disk as well which is why I said, "assuming you would actually live long enough to recognize it let alone see it due to it sucking in all light, you would see your ship stretch and spiral into an infinitely small point," which also takes into account the fact that the way EvE is presented is not first person, thus could potentially be an outside viewer watching the event unfold. --------------------------------------

A similar thing I had, a bright blue pulsating object but not warpable. I did get the same message ("ship systems won't work properly" or so) but also my shields went down by 30% or 40% immediately after jumping through the hole into the system.

that would have been a pulsar. a star that emits mater and energy from its north and south pole. the pulsating effect is becouse of its rotation wich means the pole isn;t awlays pointed at you.

I'm relying on what science has theorized and what many scientist agree upon.
Try not to be so ostentatious.

I suspect it is a wormhole which is either forming and not yet traversable or decaying and no longer usable..

The Schwarzschild radius is the distance from the center of the black hole to outer edge of where the Event Horizon ends.

Heh heh, whether or not a black hole is visible or not depends on if it is "feeding" at the time.
If it is, which means it is gathering matter from a star, nebula, ect. at the time, then an accretion disk will be visible, as may be polar jets (read stuff by Dr. Hawking for more info).
If it isn't feeding, it's pretty much invisible. Careful observation will reveal gravitational "lensing" effects of the light from stars almost directly "behind" the black hole from any given vantage point due to the extreme curvature of space-time the singularity creates.
Gravitational "tidal" forces would likely shred anything not made of, say, neutronium, to tiny bits long before the Schwartzchild radius is reached. After all, even black holes are not perfectly uniform.
Even if you could make to the event horizon, things get really really strange then.
From your point of view, you "fall" in and bad things happen quickly.
...the thing is, due to time dilation, to those watching from a "sidereal" perspective of "normal" time, it takes almost literaly forever for you to actually reach the point to where you're...hrm, disintegrated? de-matterized?...whatever.
I'd heartily recommend Fredrick Pol's Heechee saga as an example of the above.
In a game since, well, each of the different stellar types messes up *something* it seems, so...
...move along, move along

Isn't it that a pulsar is a pulsar because its magnetic field axis which em radiation is emitted from is NOT identical with the pole or rotation axis? Otherwise we would never see this radiation. Unless we were exactly on the rotation axis, but then we wouldn't see a lighthouse pulse effect but a constant radiation.
Anyway, my description wasn't clear. What I saw wasn't looking like a lighthouse pulse but more like a symmetric light or particle wave emitted in all directions in the equatorial plane of the object.
