...after several months, nah, say, by the end of this year...
...will CCP consider dropping the whole absurd desire for "ERSB T-rating" ? And bring back the NICE content we LIKE to look at ? Like the Pleasure hubs, and the Quafe girl, and a lot of other such things ? Heck, consider actually having some new and DEPRAVINGLY FUN things in Ambulation if we "OPT IN" to access them ? If nothing else, then at least introduce game content parental controls, and replace all non-T-rated materials in the "parental control" version with something neutral.
EVE isn't really a T-rated game, and we all know that... since the so-called "online interaction" makes up the vast majority of it, and it's pretty much unavoidable anyway. I'm calling shenenigans on this, "online interaction not rated by ERSB" my shiny metal-implanted posterior ! Heck, I'd call EVE as being more along the lines of M, if not even AO.

I may be 15, but I agree. This isn't a T-game. It's very mature, with drugs, violence, hookers, and obscenely dark humor. I don't think it's AO, because it's not very graphic on the whole base concepts, but considering the player base.... one can never be sure.

Edited by: Noriko Rei on 13/03/2009 01:20:27 ESRB ratings are for overprotective parents who attempt to control every experience their children have. I can't recall the last time I heard any kid, of any age, claiming to want Hello Kitty Island Adventure over something like the latest version of Hookers and Drugs, High School Shooting Spree, Sex and Violence, or EVE Online. Frankly, CCP should shoot for the most restrictive ESRB rating available; demand will skyrocket.

Just to clarify.
They could of still gotten it in a box, even if it had the next more restrictive rank, AKA "M". The "M" rating is for 17yr and older, where as the "T" rating is for 13yr and older.
I think the restriction, forcing CCP to aim for a "T" rating came from their new partner, Atari.
I find the whole affair rather funny, since EVE as a game/concept doesnt appeal to most gamers under the age of 17.

They didn't drop it because of that. I have my orig box from 03', and it has "Teen" ESRB. WoW has a "Teen" rating aswell, and you can run around in underwear and actually dance, and interact with other players. -Far more than what you could ever see, let alone do with Quafe girl.
CCP has been continually bringing the game towards a more and more monotone pve oriented game since 03', it's where the cash is. They have always had a rather "thanks for allowing us to reach this point, now get out of our way as we grovel at the new players" attitude towards older players and features. So unless you can convince them to stop liking money I doubt they'll change their course. |

I propose they bring boobies with ambulition, so that Eve will be rated M (mature) and only sold to people above 18, like Age of Conan. This way we'd get rid of all that kiddies ... oh wait.. we don't want to lose 90% of our pirates |

How many children under the age of 18 play this game?
Of those, how many of them are NOT children of parents who are playing EVE with them? And of those, how many aren't high school teenagers who know all the taboo crap anyways, who would get M rated games from their educated parents?
I'm assuming less than 1%.
CCP - 99% of your customers either want or can deal with mature content in the game. Realize that the boxed-version will be a nice run but ultimately a bust, and then drop the stupid ESRB and give us BOOBS! |

EVE really should be rated M.
Because you know (like that one asshat parent who bought it for their 13 year old kid, then complained about smacktalk in local) that theres gonna be people that whine about the online interaction as "being unsuitable for teens".
Despite the huge warning we have now, which pretty much says the entire game is not rated by ESRB. I suppose the character creation screen is safe for teens.
The fact EVEs entire process is deceit, theft, piracy, degeneracy, slavery and all that good stuff really doesn't suggest a game that should be rated under M.
Even the backstory can be evil.

Edited by: Iloni Atoriandra on 13/03/2009 09:40:00 Ive always found very few people under 18 actually play EVE and really it shoulder be an 18+ game especially if they want Ambulation to be a success and not some kiddy WoW game.

Are you certain those things went away due to the ERSB rating?
We lost the pleasure hubs in premium graphics when Trinity launched, iirc.

If the box set fails to sell, then Atari will "suggest" to CCP that the game needs to appeal more to the non-hardcore gamer.
