Anyone else finding it difficult to scan down towers since the Apoc release?
I got covops frig at L4 with x2 rigs for sig strength and a sister's launcher. All probe skills at 4, and TWO 10% implants - one for strength and other for deviation.
The best I have been able get is a 50% sig strength using anywhere from three to nine combat probes all at the lowest scanning range and positioned in a number of different patterns around the signatures.
WTF.......over?!? How hard can it be for a probe to lock onto something of that size just sitting there anchored in space?

errr.....Why probe for towers? Just use the directional scanner and the odd pod warp. |

Sigh. Yeah, I suppose. Thanks for reminding me of the obvious. But still, you have to admit this is an odd behavior of the new probe mechanics that I for sure was not expecting :-\

I've noticed this too, its actually quite difficult to get 100% strength hits on pos towers. Poses should be easy to scan down.

The new probes are basically designed to hunt down cosmic anomalies and signatures... which are friggin huge compared to a pos and giving off way more clues to their existance and wherabout. Its' often not easy to nail down those... even with skill. It makes sense that you would have to revert to the 'look n see' or 'hunt n peck' systems to find them actually. It takes a different probe to even track down ships. Welcome to the world of speacialized equipment. One bit of gear will no longer solve all your problems here.

Whoa, hold on.
First, trying to directional scan 40 moons blows donkey-sized carrot chunks. Second, you're saying that I can find a frig or a tiny drone without any problem but a giant deathstar and all its structures and forcefield is just too hard to locate?!? Does not compute!
Before Apoc, you had to fly all around to a bunch of planets dropping probes, but if it was there, I've never failed to find them.
I still say it's not supposed to be this hard. I just found four cosmic sigs (100% strength) with a SINGLE core probe at 32 au range. But a tower using five combat probes at 0.5 au doesn't have enough power? Kinda frustrating imho.
