Again, silence. I began to wonder what would happen if I reached zero. I knew that IÆd claimed my first hull as a pirate, and I had to act the part. And if I knew anything about piracy I knew that they donÆt show mercy when they say theyÆre going to blow you to pieces if you donÆt submit.
ô10 seconds.ö
Nothing. He was dulling the edge of my newfound triumph. The edges of my vision began to cloud a painful red..
ôThis is your last warning. Reply, or be destroyed.ö
Again, quiet. I punched the fire button. A scourge screeched from my launcher and exploded. IÆd taken his time, his mining can, his ship, and now, IÆd taken his life.
My security status dropped from 0.0 to -1.5. Only pirates have that kind of negative status. Only those ruthless enough to force themselves on the innocence of others.
I immediately felt guilty. I didnÆt want to pod him. IÆm scrappy and a trickster, not a stone cold killer. If heÆd have said, ôNo.ö things would have been easier. But that stony silence had prompted me to act. And act I did. Action that was demanded, swift, and immediate.
Indeed I was ruthless.
His ship pod was full of common mods, his jet can full of Omber. I radioed for a corp-mate (name withheld for security) to come haul it away.
I sat alone in the belt, the blood on my hands. I watched the stars. I was sad.
Tieberius wasnÆt finished. He was going to come back.

Edited by: Riddari on 16/08/2004 15:31:11 Nice once more.
It would be better though to have kept the story in the same thread instead of splitting into two threads.
If you find that you have written a post which is too long for a single entry (something I often experience) add the second part as a reply to the first part, continuing there.
Whispere, hit the QUOTE button on this posting of mine and then copy and paste the following:
-begin quote below this line- Whispere's Newbie Adventure #1 Whispere's Newbie Adventure #2 Whispere's Newbie Adventure #3 Whispere's Newbie Adventure #4 Whispere's Newbie Adventure #5 -end quote above this line-
and paste this into your signature instead of your current url listing.
This way you get links.

Whispere,
I've followed your mis-adventures and exploits, and I am impressed. You can compare your stories to the epic journey of Horatio Hornblower; from ensign to Admiral, from Newbie to Veteran. Except, where Horatio always choose the noble route, never allowing himself the indignities of inner-turmoil, you have choosen to dwell amongst the base creatures of this universe.
Whispere the Wicked. No longer innocent, instead, stained with their blood. We all feel your pain. Sharing it makes the burden of guilt lighter.
Now, hurry up and finish part #6!

Murderer, ruthless ... cold even ... Just like Koda says, you get used to it ... the first podkill is the hardest.
But try this reasoning on for size:
... as a newly born and 'now-marked' tewibwy ebil scourge of space it is your duty to 'inform' the fellow space wanderers of their weakness. Maybe you actually did him a favour! Next time, he won't be so careless and will unleash drone hell on you much faster. As odds go, you should have (again ) been pasted over the Veldspar rocks by those drones ... you 'informed' him ... and maybe it was actually much cheaper for him to learn this lesson at this point in time and loose a Thorax, than learn it later, loosing a bs with a bay full of drones and a full set of implants ...
... well, hope it helps you get over your first podkill, and maybe inspires you do do more great deeds in the future .. hehe ... the second will not be so difficult at all ... trust me ... ... it can get addictive ...
Keep up the good work and remember ... Mining will kill ya!
P.S.- BTW, nice kill. ... YARR !!!

Nicely done. You gave him plenty of time. They didn't pay. They died. Don't forget to scoop the corpse too and have the CONCORD Pod Kill email framed and mounted on the wall at your favorite station.
Kick back with some Spiced Wine and a Mind Flood and enjoy the moment.
Yarr!!!!
P.S. Now you have a security status problem. Time to start pod killing in 0.0.
