IÆve noticed something extremely WRONG with the way Eve is now calculating my attributes. I noticed this because I went to train Tactical Shield Manipulation IV, a process that prior to now was going to take approx 2 days. I noticed that it was now telling me it was going to take more than 3!!!!
So I did a little investigating and found that if I refreshed Evemon my attributes would jump around! It would tend to stay at the high number but every once in awhile it would load the smaller attribute numbers. I even uninstalled and then reinstalled Evemon to make sure everything was working right.
Charisma 12.96 -> 15.12 Intelligence 19.44 -> 28.08 Perception 23.76 -> 35.64 Memory 22.68 ->33.48 Willpower 22.68 -> 31.32
Was this what was behind the discrepancy I was experiencing between my old training time and me new higher training time? Well here is my training times and the math for Tactical Shield Manipulation IV.
Under the higher numbers my relevant attributes are Primary û Memory - 35.64 Secondary - Intelligence - 32.40
Tactical shield manipulation IV takes 148,948 SP
32.40+35.64/2=50.22 50.22x60=3013.2 SP/hr
Ok so my SP per hour should be 3013.2
148,948/3013.2=49.4 hrs or 2 days 1hr
It should take me 2 days and 1 hour to train Tactical Shield Manipulation IV, a figure Evemon confirms.
Now with the lower attribute numbers
22.68+19.44/2=32.4
32.4x60=1944 SP/hr
148,948/1944=76 hrs or 3 days 4 hours
Ok so under the lower numbers it should take 3 days and 4 hours. Now which number is EVE using? According to Eve it will take me 3 days and 4 hours, so itÆs using the lower numbers.
WHAT THE HECK. Why has it suddenly started using those lower numbers? Where did they come from? And why does Evemon keep switching between them? Clearly something is messed up, either in Eve or the numbers the API is supplying to Evemon.
And yes I did petition this, no response, but I thought you guys should know so you could see if this is happening to you too.

It's an EVE-Mon issue with characters that have remapped the attributes. If you delete the character from EVE-Mon, clear the EVE-Mon cache and re-add it, all will be just peachy. You are wasting GM time with your petition.

But I didn't go and remap either intelligence or memory, why are they being affected? Why have all of my attributes dropped by 10 points?

Doesn't matter what you remapped. If any of the base attributes is off by even a single point, EVE-Mon goes bonkers.
P.S. Don't ask me or us here why, ask the guys that made EVE-Mon, on their forums.

Yes but I'm wondering why when I never remapped the relevent skills has EVE suddenly added a day to my training time?? I'm talking Eve not Evemon.

What were your base attributes BEFORE the remap, what are your base attributes now, how long would that skill take before the remap, and how long does it take now ? I have a feeling it now takes the same as it used to take before, and you're just remembering it wrong. That, or you need to also clear the EVE cache.
Just for the reference, 1800-2200 SP/hour is just about normal. 3000 SP/hour isn't, regardless of min-maxed base attributes, learnings or implants.

Ok I just went and did what you suggested. Now Evemon tells me it will 1 day 23 hours, yet Eve says 3 days 4 hours. And no I did not remap Intelligence or Memory so it should have remained the same.
What Evemon now tells me is 31.32 for intelligence and 42.12 for memory
I also find it quite unlikely I'm mis-remembering considering it was the last skill on my training plan for BS's, a plan which had consisted of 4 skills.
Edit: Also after removing my character, clearing the cache, then uninstalling, downloading a new copy, reinstalling, clearing the cache, and then adding a the character with a new key it changes my attribute points. I also tried it on my roommates computer and it is doing the same thing, a computer that has never had Evemon or Eve installed.

Just for the reference, 1800-2200 SP/hour is just about normal. 3000 SP/hour isn't possible, regardless of min-maxed base attributes, learnings or implants. 2772 SP/hour is the absolute best you can get with completely min-maxed attributes on the desired pair, and maxed-out learnings and implants.

Well that is intereasting.
But why is it still changing after installing Evemon on a new PC?

Absolutely no idea, it shouldn't do that on a fresh install. Like I said, ask the EVE-Mon guys on their forums about it. They should know best what's wrong with their program.

Well you can call it pestering, but I'm trying to understand why this is happening. And if I who reads the forums fairly often never knew this maybe other people don't either and this whole discussion is informative to them.
I'm willing to give it that I've mis-remembered the Eve training times, possibly because Evemon was messed up even then.
So thank you for your explanation, but it seems Evemon is now useless for me.

Edited by: Akita T on 15/03/2009 03:19:20 Are you SURE you wiped out the EVE-Mon settings and cache ? On Win XP, it's in C:\Documents and Settings\<windowsusername>\Application Data\EVEMon no idea where it's on Vista.
P.S. Also, close EVE-Mon, wait more than one hour (in case some cached data still gets fed by the EVE API), and only afterwards try wiping out EVE-Mon settings and cache again, to start from scratch. _ Create a character || Fit a ship || Get some ISK |

I went in and manually deleted the cache, everything.
\AppData\Roaming\EVEMon
is where that is. And yes it is still giving me the wrong skill training time, 2 days 4 hours again. Though it did fix my half black pictures.

It's fascinating how people think that EvEMon is correct and the game is wrong.
The correct numbers are the smaller ones. The game has always been using them, nothing has changed in the game.
The bigger attribute numbers are incorrect. They only exist on the API. It's a API bug. It makes training time displayed by EvE Mon incorrect. It affects everyone, wether you did remap or not. DO NOT trust EvE Mon training times: they currently are totally wrong.
The correct training time is 3+ days. It has not changed in the game. It has changed in EvE Mon. One month ago EvE Mon would have shown you 3+ days. Now it may show 2+ or 3+ depending on wether it checked the API immediatelly after the cache expired or not.

Yes It is an Api bug since the M10 patch, Evehq is also reporting abnormal attributes, it periodically resets to the correct figure but then reverts again, seemingly randomly.
Althea's Imonitor Google gadgets are also misbehaving.
As stated above, in game training speed and attributes are unaffected. ________________________________________________________________

We are looking into this issue. We believe that one of the API servers may be incorrectly configured. They are behind a load balancer, which explains the randomness of this occurring.
Just to be clear, the in-game values are correct.
