We got trapped in a wh after dt last night (wh disappeared during dt, wasnt even destabilized yet)
We brought 2 probers (1dedicated corops, another bs with proble launcher) and 5 rr bs. We probed after dt to find a way out but we got a whole bunch of nothing. Marking the crap sites by putting one of our ships in the site to mark it on the map for our probers (system map is laggy as hell btw).
We come back tonight and withing the first half hour we got a wh, jumped through it... into another wh. 3 hours later no exit hole (with borth probers online), and the original hole has collapsed.
I dont mind the 'lost in space' aspect but your probing skill should determine if you can find your way out. Not the wh spawn mechanics. There should always be a way out, and it should just depend on player skill to find it. Not a roll-of-the dice chance of an exit spawning.

To my knowledge there is always a way out.

There isnt always a way out. You take the risk of getting stuck by going through w-holes. (as some alliance mates who got 3 carriers stuck in one the other night and had to self-d, no probes)

3 carriers = 3 ship maintenance arrays + 3 flying corporate hangars You should be able to take a crapload of probes AND probing frigates with you :/ Just put one T1 probing frigate in each carrier (Imicus, etc.). 200k ISK ftw.
No logical sense = the risk of getting stranded. And it's not a game mechanic.

Sometimes you may have to go through 2-3 other WH Systems to get back to normal space. But you CAN eventually get out.
A good Prober is very much needed.
You may have to explore 3-9 other WH systems though. It can be very tedius, but also very rewarding.

Yeah w-space isn't for carriers, sorry bout your losses. There's always a way out for smaller ships Haven't heard of anyone getting their BS stuck in one yet, anyway.
The devs have stated that there's always an exit unless the system is bugged, in which case they have moved players.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

Edited by: Xenoxide on 15/03/2009 12:02:23 This is ALWAYS an exit wormhole. Whether it goes to k-space or another w-space system, there is always at least one wormhole in any w-space system. The developers have stated this many times.
However, should you fail to have any probe/probe launchers, then you are stuck. Even though there is always an exit, you still have to scan for it.
If you can't scan for it, then you're screwed.
Capital ships on the other hand...that's a different matter. Masses and all that. Not sure what the word is on that.

There is ALWAYS a way out. Lack of foresight in bringing an extra cov-ops with lots of probes inside one of the carriers is the problem. You MUST have lots of probes, and ships fitted with Launchers to use them, and there will be a way out of the W system to another system, whether W or K, who knows but there will be a way out of the system you are in.

As the devs have stated in the numerous over threads THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY OUT. It might not be easy to find BUT THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY OUT.

Why do you even lots of probes?
They're recallable aren't they - as far as I can tell they last forever.

There is always 1+ worms in any given W-Space system, but as the 4AU rule no longer apply actually using that knowledge is difficult.
I would like to know how far above/outside the orbital plane they can spawn, knowing this it should be easier as you can employ a grid-like search pattern elimating the crappy belts as you go.

Yes, but they can still be lost in a number of ways, so it's always a good idea to cary a fair amount of spares. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |
