My friend just turned in a mission but it didn't despawn. this is kind of annoying since im in a hauler with a mwd trying to pick stuff up... so WTH CCP? i thought all missions despawned after you turned them in.

It despawns, but everyone must leave the mission dedspace and it will despawn. Just make a bookmark before you leave.

They do, as long as nobody's in the deadspace area when the turn-in happens.
Run through the deadspace gates, get a bookmark in each room, then leave, The mission should despawn then - which just means that mission static objects (roids, walls/structures, gates) will vanish, leaving all the juicy wrecks behind.
As it is, you may have to finish this deadspace as-is. Just remember to be out of it before turn-in next time.

How long has this been the case?
Would be nice if it's a recent change - I'll just have to make sure to leave someone behind when I hand in missions whose deadspaces contain lots of yummy asteroids to mine :)

Been around a long time.
Of course, if you want to mine a mission area you could just...well...
Not turn in the mission.
Missions expire after 7 days, and are reset each downtime, ya know - MEANING: THe time given inthe mission dialog for expiration is only for the BONUS to the mission itself. BTW< welcome to mission farming - now you know how to do it :)

As recently as a week before M10 when a mission was turned in the entire site was despawned except for wrecks/cans. Even with a ship in zone. I'd be halfway to a can THEN be able to turn on MWDs.
I USED this feature a lot so I'm certain of it. I have not tried since M10.
