Maneuver within 0m of a wormhole and sit there for a bit, close to the center as possible. After a while it will "bounce" away from you about 1-2km. There seems to be a center point where it will tend to stay near but they definitely move around. What's the point?
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

Might be shared code between wormholes and NPC-ships. NPCs avoid each other so they don't melt into one tiny blob when they follow your ship.
Or it might just be lag/desync.

Explain one thing to me:
How do you know it's not you that's being bounced from the WH?
Unless you have a jetcan nearby or a fleet/corp-mate close enough that is.
Position is relative and I've seen posts from others that say they got bounced from a WH - who is right? ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |

I had a jetcan nearby to make sure. Also, if it were my ship getting bounced then I would see it on the speedometer. The center does repel you like any other object, so if someone has said they got bounced then they wouldn't be wrong. The behavior I've noticed happens when you're sitting anywhere that you're in 0km of the hole though.
After some more testing, I'm having trouble making out what's really going on with it...
I was mistaken about there being a center point, because I was able to move the wormhole over 20kms.
Players exiting the wormhole were showing up 16kms away, and then re-entering as if they were right next to it. But when I tried to enter, it asked me to get within 5000m, though I was right next to it.
When I used "Approach Location" on my bookmark, and went back to where I originally found it, I couldn't try to enter because the button was grayed out. I seem to have essentially locked myself out of there.
I warped away, came back, and the WH was right back where it started. So I guess it could just be a graphical bug? But then it wouldn't make sense that the center-point would still repel my ship like an object if it wasn't actually moving...

So basically you found a way to make it so you can't go into a wormhole.
This is not significant, but it is interesting at least. Its most likely a graphical or client bug, since other players didn't see it and weren't affected. I've had this happen sometimes with wrecks, where I was 300m away but it said I couldn't open em because I was too far. Other player said I was 10km away from the wreck on his screen, and when I bookmarked and warped away then back at 0km I was indeed 10km away from the wreck.

Yeah, the latency thing with wrecks/cans happens frequently but never have I seen one jump away from me. Someone posted about this happening already which I why I titled my topic the way I did... people seemed to dismiss it as the player being bounced off the center.
But see, if a wormhole actually was moveable - it would be very significant.

It's called getting DCed, it's been happening a lot of late. restart the client and you're good.

No, I'm fairly sure I wasn't disconnected which is what DC stands for.

The first time I seen this happen I thought maybe it was the other end of the worm hole changing the exit point. Gladly it wasn't.

Maybe it's the fact that wet ferrets smell so bad that even spatial anomalies try to distance themselves from them.
(Don't take this personally, it's just a joke based upon your post and your username.) |
