Love the new expansion , wormholes are fun and gave us something new to explore .First wormhole went perfect, jumped in scanned around ,jumped out.Second wormhole collapsed shortly after entering ,but with the help of some good people stuck with me ,we found an exit in 30 or so minutes..Then the third wormhole was the killer .It collapsed cutting our fleet in half ,and every other wormhole went to more unknown space.Lost for two days in unknown space(about 10 hours of play) , dangerously low on ammo and moral. We thought self destruct was goin to be the only way out. After meeting the remains of another corp super fleet that had lost almost 2billion in assets to sleepers ,then even more that gave up and self destructed . We realized we may not be that bad of..Anyways we found a way out ,and did end up loosing one ship to a pirate on the last wormhole but no big deal, just a scout ship. But the point of this post is we need a sub-cap or capital support ship. The Orca is to small and a carrier is to much liability, something in the middle is needed .A corp support ship / exploration ship ,Like a carrier stripped of all it's awesome and built as a functional mobile station .Just enough fittings to scan, tractor, explore, survive your average gank, and maybe,if you wanna get crazy it could use cov-ops cloak .I know the danger of the wormholes is the whole point ,and i dont mind being lost in there for two days ,or a week ,or whatever. But the idea of loosing everything i brought in and everything i came in for becuase i run out of ammo and such doesn't sit well with me. The question is ,would CCP consider such a ship ? let me know if you have any ideas of a reasonable existing ship ,sorry this post was so long lol

Edited by: Zarroh on 17/03/2009 12:01:24 I don't agree with OP. The whole point of WHs is to make the game more challenging and not more boring.
I found out that a cleverly fitted BC for soloing WH's (ok not the Sleepers BS but still) is the best choice ; agile enough to quickly escape tricky situations and rather dispensable than a BS. I survived 4 days in it (farming one wormhole in solitude (no visits) then visiting 3 others (one with ganking team and two others with stranded guys or like-minded explorers, with still enough ammo/probes and room for extra salvage items.
I came back with greater profit than I imagined I'd have made.
Maybe adding an extra high slot to BCs would do the trick to extend the range of WH utilization, but it is not necessarily required.
In my opinion, before getting into your next WH adventure, set yourself a goal. E.g. do I want to mine or harvest clouds, or hack or fight?
With that precise goal in mind, you fit your ship accordingly and set yourself for a long ride (if you like living in WHs).
CCP, kudos for this AMAZING expansion. I just LOVE IT!

T2 carriers
Remove alot of their gank ability and give them a module that like a siege/triage module that uses racial isotopes to convert it into a mobile station. Cycle time is about 15 mins and it is has heavily boosted defence while being a station. But can do nothing but be a mobile station (means no fighters) It would have less HP than a small POS but can be docked in and can repair ships/has manufacturing. It is immobile for 15 mins and has standard HP when it is taken out of station mode. Though, in hindsight; I really should put in some sort of spacer between my post and signature |

We came out in Heimatar space 23 jumps from home ,but mostly high sec all the way.I'm rather noobish but everything i'v read on carriers says you can't take them into high sec space .So if the hole dumps you in high sec ,then what happens?

Or a marauder for solo work, then you can handle about anything but a sleeper stronghold and still salvage and scan. But i usually don't solo and i am a long way from a techII battleship.

Id say the orca should be pretty good as a WH support ship i mean you could fit it with a cloak to hide it and even if it did get popped by a passing Piwate it can almost pay for itself in the insurance payout. You did insure it right? lolz

Much of the beauty of the wormhole-space content is that the bigger fleet you put together, the harder the wormhole mechanics bite back at you. This content is the friendliest to individuals and small corps of any that's been added to the game since I started.
I'm not in a hurry to see expensive new capital assets added that tilt the balance back toward the big boys.
On the other hand, if we are going to see them, I'd rather see w-space infrastructure assets than fleet support assets. (Yes, there's some overlap of function; but immobile assets will favor defense over offense in w-space.)
In particular I'd like to see some sort of durable, anchorable "trading post" asset capable of operating a very limited number of market buy and sell orders, obviously limited to the local system in range.

lol Insurance ?? whats that?? , Actually haven't tried it yet ,, We're taking our level 4 mission boats in the wormholes ,and my Maelstrom is to big to dock in an Orca's ship bay.It would be awesome for one BC and a couple cruisers with extras, may have to give in and fly smaller.

No, really. You can get a covops ship to scan, and a blockade runner/orca/carrier/whatever to carry extra supplies and carry loot. Bring combat pilots to defend against gankers.

Spent a few days in a WH recently. Found one of these easy ones so 4 of us went in using pretty cheap meta 1 fit vexors.
HIGH SLOTS:Cloak, probe launcher , remote hull repair, tractor/salvage.
MIDDLE: A/B , cap, hacking
LOW: DCU, Medium Rep, Resis, 800mm plate
DRONES: 4 x Light armour, 8 x medium scouts
We had a blast, the vexors could take on a few frigs/cruisers at once and still survive long enough to take out the sleepers, grab the salvage, warp off and repair. Nice cheep and cheerful fun. Stayed a few days and ended up getting ganked. No big losses.
Gonna apply the above fit to a few myrs and see how that goes. Domi will be the same. |

Why the heck do you put spaces BEFORE periods or commas? Did you go to school, or does your native language not use dots and commas? Just wondering, i'm not trying to be mean.
