I understand the need to restrict tractor beams in high sec space, but i think the game shouldn't restrict you from pulling other people's wrecks in null sec or at the very least extend the tractor beam to work on alliance wrecks this arbitrary limitation about wreck ownership makes cleaning up around alliance systems a pain in the ass for all salvagers especially when the owners are offline and cant fleet you

Why does this limitation even exist in the first place? You should always be able to tractor wrecks, and the only time you shouldn't be able to tractor a can is if it is anchored. --- SWA was here IAC is a loser |

jesus man think of the poor noobs mining in jita if there was no restriction people would just go to rookie systems and steal all the cans while staying out of range and or laughint as the civilian lasers bounce off their ego's high sec should be restricted but low and null sec should not.

Not bein able to tractor some one else's property in Concord space is probably a good thing.
It doesn't make sense in null sec. There is no law. You should have the freedom to do whatever you like as long as no one else can stop you.
I like logic.

I disagree even with the limitation in highsec. You can already steal from unowned wrecks/cans, which flags you to the owner, so I don't see why tractoring should behave any differently.
It doesn't just impede piracy - I've run missions in gang before, with the intent to come back and salvage afterward. If my gangmate logged off or left gang before I got around to salvaging, I could only tractor wrecks for ships that I got the killing blow on which is a major PITA.

Maybe theft should come with a sec status hit and flag the thief for an hour or two.
And in exchange, tractor beams work on any can or wreck.
Your situation sounds like a oversight though. Once you have loot rights (IE in gang and in system when the kill was made) you should still have loot rights after the gang disbands. Seems logical to me anyway.

i liked the idea about a sec hit in empire i also think you should change it so you can tractor unanchored pos items and inactive drones for easier recovery.
and fullmetal jackass my situation isn't about loosing rights after gang disbands it is about having rights to wrecks killed by alliance members

Why? They could just handle it like theft. You become flagged to the owner of the can/wreck-contents.

The reason other people's stuff cannot be tractored about is plain and simple: Griefing.
Until CCP either fixes the Tractor Beams (they just barely work right now) or bans griefers entirely from EvE, this is not gonna change. |

Tractoring an item/can that isn't yours/corps/gangs would result in an agro timer. just like if you looted someone elses can.
Problem solved.
We get to loot everything. Griefers get another weapon to cause pain. Space becomes a little cleaner.
Also give us the ability to tractor small, medium and large (but not giant) secure/audit cans as well as all drones except fighters and corpses.
Again with an agro timer for doing this... maybe not trigger on corpse looting.

also if you already have a can locked in your tractor they cant pull it away from you. smart people will realize this is how to prevent the griefing.

I agree that in lowsec anything goes, and indeed you should be aloud to tractor anything.

I'd like medium and large tractor beams while we're at it.
Allowing tractor beams to work on anything in high sec would just encourage more griefer tactics.

While I agree that wreck ownership in low to no sec areas (and maybe all can ownership in nosec) should be removed, I'd advice to not start /signed posts.
