I am very new to EVE (incase the the subject didn't warn you).
I have been reading the forums since I started my account and have become interested in the idea of investing. I have read many of the posts here by people asking for investors.
No one is interested in taking small investments. I understand it may be more work tracking a small sum then a larger sum, but I was mostly wondering how a new person such as myself would break in to the investing portion of EVE.
I have just recently made my first 10 mil ISK and would not want to invest more than 5 mil just so I can keep some incase I need it.
I understand most people will tell me to wait until I have more money to invest, but I'm hoping that is not the only answer. I'm hoping there is some person/corp/business out there that deals in small investments that I just haven't found yet.
Any help, insight, advice would be appreciated. -------------------------------------------------- I collect everything...

i will be needing small investment soon, the max investment will be 10 million isk with i think a cap on a player basis of the most of 1 million , i am still working the figures out and i will be doing small business for a long period of time, i am still deciding weather i should wait or leave my current corp/alliance and run the thing on a more perminent basis (that running my invesments into the market not the buisnesses themselves they will be time before closing)
keep a eye out

If you really want to invest the 5M your best bet probably would be to buy a few shares via one of the exchanges (check sticky threads for details). Since dividends are distributed to shareholders via game mechanics it won't matter that you're a tiny investor (it doesn't require extra work by the issuer).
Part of investing though is figuring out what you're getting out of it. 5M isk at say 5% per month is 250k isk. Is it worth tying up half your capital for a month to gain the equivalent of a BC sized rat's bounty? Couldn't you better 'invest' the isk in your ship/skills so that you can kill more rats faster and get more isk that way? Trading/investing only gets really interesting from 100M isk or so. Below that it's usually more efficient to run missions / kill rats. Of course it's your isk and you're free to do with it what you like, so if you still want to invest try buying some shares (as mentioned above).

It does seem to be easier to do missions for money compared to a small investment. What I'm looking for is to learn about investing early and with smaller sums. I have no mind for finances in RL and thought if I lose money here at least I'll still have a house in RL.
I am actually not a combat person, the money I have did come from missions, but it was the 3 strings of newbie missions since Apocrypha was released, and a single mining op with the corp I have joined.
My plans are to become an industrialist (mining/building) so I do not forsee a large income for a long time to come. I thought starting with a small investment would help me learn with minimal risk and give me a small bonus in income.
I will look in to the stickies and see what I can find. Since there is little to no extra effort for tracking my small investment hopefully I won't annoy anyone with my little amount of ISK.
Again thank you for your help. -------------------------------------------------- I collect everything...

So I've spent the past week reading the stickies (yes I started reading them before today). From what I can see other than the two banks the investments and stock exchange are still looking for large amounts of money for initial investments. The smallest amount I was able to find was 20 mil. Feel free to show me/tell me what companies I may have missed.
While looking over the two stock exchanges I realized, much like real life, I have absolutely no clue how to read one. While the suggestion to look in to them is valid I seem to lack the financial know how to understand all the numbers.
I do appreciate the help given. -------------------------------------------------- I collect everything...

Edited by: Sentinental on 21/03/2009 07:30:40 Hi there
If you are interested in a 10 Mill loan with 10% interest over the next 12 month sent me a mail ingame.
Also if you are interested in getting into construction, have a look at our newbie construction starter bpc package. it comes along with a cruiser bpc and a few standard item bpc.
Just a warning, "nothing in life is free", so watch out for scammers. I recently ran into a jita scammer, who i scammed myself just for the fun. He offered me to dobule my isk because he is quitting eve via a freeform "secure" contract system. So he created such a contract with a 50 mill collateral. I told him i need to test it 1st, so i created the same contract which he accepted then. I closed the contract as failed and kept the collateral. Watch out for ipos, a lot or a few of them turned out to be scams too and you can have a 100% loss with such a ipo.
If you are interested in a research job, i could offer your Accounts other character a position as a researcher in our company. Payment is 25 mill a month. Your working time is 3-4 hours per month.
Sent me a mail ingame or join our pulic channel "abc-bpc". its very hard to convo me online, since im afk or off most of my time. ---------------- Investment Company |

Are you offering me a loan? I'm not really sure what I would need with a loan, but thanks for the offer. -------------------------------------------------- I collect everything...

Thank you for the offer but I do not think I want a loan right now. For what I do I make enough cash to supply my own needs. It just doesn't seem like a good idea to take out a loan to invest in something either.
Plus a few anonymous people have assisted me with investing info and cash. -------------------------------------------------- I collect everything...

You can buy some Kwint Industries, or any other publicly traded corp's, shares off of one of the exchanges. The url's are in the sticky.
However, for such a small amount I think you would be better off investing it yourself. Any venture safe enough to invest in will give you 10% or less monthly while you should be able to double such a small amount weekly. Plus, you'll learn a lot in the process and knowing how trading and the market actually work means that when you have enough money that it's worth investing you'll be able to judge for yourself which ventures sound legitimate and which are suspicious. You don't become a savvy investor simply by throwing a lot of money around and seeing what sticks; you become skilled by learning how to make the money yourself.

I'd say balance your skills a little so you can fly level 1/2 missions easily then focus on trade\industry.
When you're doing missions, note down what you're getting from drops. Look at how much they sell for on the market then start buying low and selling high.
I wouldn't worry about investing untill 10mil isn't that much to you

^^
Track the markets in different systems. With a minimum of effort you can make far more buying and selling than you can in interest from investing.
