And eve is again pretty much unplayable in empire (be it war, piracy or pve) because of constant lagspikes (up to 2 minutes!), and here comes one simple question. Are we up to put up with it and not play in weekend evenings or is ccp actualy going to solve this issue (it was not prezent pre apoc, and it was supposed to be fixed in last patch) because well, as now game is not playable in saturday and sunday evenings.

Have you tried doing a tracert to see where the lag is coming from then? There's really not much point blaming CCP for your ISP mate.

There is difference between lag from my PC to server than the fact that your guns were active and then for 8 cycles they didn't shoot, nor they would deactivate/activate whatsoever.

Arnon was lagging horribly, with 260 people in it, though most seemed to be noobs doing the epic arc.

You mean whenver soemone actualy wants working game ? In my blobfare times i didn't complain for lag even once (beside jv1 ;p) because well, everyone knew that it will be laggy, that it will be decyny and pretty much turn based. But when you are in empire not in mission/trade hub you would expect the game to pretty much work good, not be one big laghole and i would like to know is ccp working on it, or is this state they cannot deal with atm (because there is simply too many players/something got totaly broken by new patch).

Edited by: Quantar Raalsken on 21/03/2009 20:46:53 my only lag was from when damned explorer.exe put ketchup on my CPU and ate it
o and Leviathan, u reminded me that someone needs to make Progenitor corp/alliance and get a Avatar and name it Sajuuk.....and the Revelation dreadnought can be the...... Dreadnought XD...and Harbies can be called Keepers
Punishers will be fighter drones and a guess a Magnate can be a Mover ^^
and a Archon can be the big ole ship that created the cores and carried the Dreadnought

" here in London ... " When CCP locks the gates to not only Jita but Amarr.. it is real LAG, not international or local ping times.
Who here wants to see 75,000 concurrent users Sunday? From your Assets to Gates, from NPC to PvP - No.
I taunt and dare anyone to say in their reply: 'no 2nd server ever, CCP can handle 75k PCU without lagging.'
I dbl.dare you add, 'even with ambulation later this year.'

No second server ever. This is one of the big sellings points of EVE.
CCP may not be able to handle 75k people without lagging at the moment, but they will keep upgrading their hardware to handle the influx of people, and they will do so under one server (Well, one server cluster, since Tranquility is technically a massive server cluster).

Don't forget it's little ironic when they're trying their hardest to get as many people as possible to join the game using any means necessary while the server can barely support the ones already there, after w-space content patch more then ever.

Its called an expansion people, you know the drill.
We are going to have odd lag issues here and there for a while yet. It happens every expansion so don't act so surprised.

It is Not a selling point when it does not work. When it does work it is primaryly a point of sales to veterans, not noobs.
The retail box release would have been a perfect place to offer a 2nd EVE. Alternatives: Jita Tax or Gate Fee ? Random Concord mutinies gank players till lag is gone :) Fleet Battles generate Toxic Gas cloud, or tear time-space fabric opening wormholes that toss ships 1-2 jumps away ?
Correct, technically EVE's hardware is a cluster of blade servers, but figuratively the average gamer refers to the One Unsharded EVE as a single server.
Agree, things seemed fine through winter.

His alternate reality. The single server thing was one of the pulling points to me in 2005.

I base that on the number of peeps I know and have spoken with who try EVE, like parts of it, and leave: casual gamers, kids, people with time for 1-2 hrs a few days a week.
These people don't want to be veterans, they are and would enjoy staying 'noob'; casual, playful, occasional games; Not worker pets from the ground floor of a mega corp.
'The ONE' EVE server-shard thing is not just lag, it is Age.
Okay, you're right, thank goodness there is one game that has so much depth and difficulty; but there are many more who try this game and leave than try it and stay. Tell me, of peolpe you've met who play a subscription MMO, many have tried EVE and left, why?
Too slow ? Single server Lag makes it slower. Menus vs action buttons ? Lag makes that worse also. Skills so slow, huge amounts of content years away; 0.0 too rough, would like an easier PvE version. Again, a 2nd server could be different and address both.
EVE to me is like an old fine restraunt. They advertise and yet there's a waiting list for reservations. They serve meals, you can't order just a drink or dessert. It is well known for quality and growing appeal, but they refuse to franchise or open a 2nd building across town.
Sadly, for me the idea "my friends are all on one server" is being defeated by "my friends all refuse to play EVE."

This game will always have lag. You can always just live with it, ***** about it, or get a better pc.
