I Voted for Valve.
Half-Life is the best FPS ever made, Counter-Strike (even though not developed by Valve) best competitive FPS and TF2 is just a ton of fun.
CCP is awesome in the MMO world, but Valve is pure awesome.
We could keep talking about this all day but you're too busy reading my sig instead.

Isn't this a bit like trying to compare incomparable objects?
Apparently you are supposed to vote for a game development studio, but it all ends up with being a vote for which games you like the best. Me personally, I some times like an ice cream other times I would like an apple.
Conclusion: That voting poll is for the dorky of the dorkiest. ---------------- Mr. Science & Trade Institute

Valve has the benefit of starting one year earlier than CCP with much more starting capital, and thus has pushed them ahead in the number of games they have produced and fans they have gathered.
CCP unfortunately only has us to cheer for them, and many of us also play Valve games...
I'd say though, of all the current game developers out there, CCP and Valve are the best. If CCP had more reach, it would be very very close. After CCP's other projects are completed they will be more popular.
Oh dear, there was another thread about this...

If you want to talk about single best developer in terms of scores, you need to look no further than Blizzard, regardless of how you feel about WoW.
While EvE has generally received fantastic reviews, all of Blizzard's games have, even the likes of Blackthorne, R&R Racing and lost Vikings.

Oh, I only now realised they included Team ICO in this. Silly online magazines should know the territories in which they have no place. Appropriate that they got knocked out round one, I'd hate to think anyone with the degree of artistic appreciation would bother with such a thing. -

Yes, I should have included Blizzard. There has yet to be an RTS developer that can challenge them. They also invented the concept of a polished game.
CCP wins in the MMOG department though, regardless of how many people the monstrosity Blizzard has created has consumed.

While I would LOVE to see CCP kick valve's ass in this competition I can imagine if at any stage CCP was ahead of Valve you'd have 50,000 voters just waiting in the wings to cast a valve vote. It's a horrible match up, CCP could have gone to semi finals, if it was actually matched up against other MMOs companies. Being matched with a mountain of mindless 12 year olds that can't think beyond holding a button down is really a poor choice.
Don't get me wrong I love mindless game play every once and a while. In the world where stupid people appear to run it, valve supplies to the stupid and for that there is no other outcome..

Oh my the irony in this post is dripping.
1. These brackets are completely based on popularity on both the positive and negative sides. That said, Valve reaches far more customers than CCP. Valve also releases games that are far less buggy. That point isn't necessarily a fair match-up since the scope of EvE is far more complex than anything Valve has done.
2. Any company that reaches or make their products accessible to a larger audience is going to have more idiots per capita. This should not be a surprise; however, to say that, "valve supplies to the stupid..." is a rather disingenuous comment since the same thing could be said about every game developer other than CCP since no other company has wanted to make such a complex game. Not only that, Valve isn't just supplying to the "stupid", they are also supplying to those who do not care for MMOs, don't have the time to spend learning the complexities of EvE, are looking for a fun and competitive FPS, are looking for a good story with their FPS or simply looking for a game that they can play for 15-30min and get some enjoyment out of it.
3. I doubt that it matters to CCP, but their standings in these types of contests is completely a product of their own making. The fact that they can compete against a Goliath such as EA should speak more to CCP's capabilities than their inability to beat a company like Valve.
4. If you were to truly and honestly compare CCP, as a company, to Valve, as a company, you would again clearly see that Valve is a better oiled machine in many aspects. Again though, this is a product of Valve being able to pull in more money than CCP.
To all the fanboys of EvE, fanboys being a person who makes a post much like yours which is essentially a post that doesn't actually look at how one company differs from the other, but rather makes a knee jerk reaction on ignorance, there is really no reason to let your feathers get all ruffled by a competition like this because if you truly understood what it takes to get to the level of a company like Valve or Blizzard, you would realize that at this point in time there is no way CCP could compete.
That said, if CCP were to release a few more titles that were as good or better than EvE and possibly more accessible, I would be very interested to see how CCP would compare to the "good game" goliaths like Valve and Blizz.
OP, if this particular bracket was against another EA company (which is completely based on saturating the market with crap games) and replaced all your "Valve" with "EA" then your overall sentiment would hold a lot more water.
We could keep talking about this all day but you're too busy reading my sig instead.

what is the point behind this poll?? Even if I would register (I never do) for voting a stupid poll noone gives a s*it about, I don't think the both companies are comparable because of fully disjoint product portfolios, unless there is an (for me) unknown reason why the poll exists. I like both, valve has developed games which belong to the greatest of all times (HL, portal, team fortress classic) in my opinion.

My guess is that these polls exists as a way to show EA how much people do not like them and conversely to show the winner that they are reaching the largest number of people in some positive way.
There are a lot of game developers that may be creating good products that will never see the top since they reach so few people at this point in time. Those developers know who they are and I am sure they take these things with a grain of salt.
A big company like EA, however, should look at a poll like this and realize that, for a game company that sells more games than any other, they are doing huge amounts of damage to their reputation in the gaming world.
We could keep talking about this all day but you're too busy reading my sig instead.
