When you have lots of sigs. for example 6 all within 4.0 AU how do you differentiate them? I'm having a bugger of a time.

following your example with 6 signals in 4au, you can try 2 ways:
* drop all 4 probes and try to catch one of them with all 4 probes using 8 au radius. For sure you will get crappy strenght but at least you will catch at least one site with a definite red dot , so you can gradually reduce again the signature radius.
* using one probe , put it to 2 au. If you find no signals, move it until you find at least one.
Theres no best method, all depend on luck. sometimes is better start with all 4 probes and great radius, sometimes its better "go small" with 1 probes.

When I start focusing on one sig others inevitably get hit be 3 probes and show as two dots. now i've got 3-5 dots with no way to tell which one is which. I end up just shrinking the probes and moving them around until I hit something but that seems pretty crapy.

I am at work so I cant test this, but won't the 2 you want have the same signal strengh in your scanning window?
If you click on the window will it highlight the one in space?
Just an Idea... Like I said, i'm not sure and am not near my Eve computers. ------------------------ Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager "I've got a couple of Strippers on my ship... and they just love to dance!" ------------------------ |

This IMO is the most anoying thing about the new scanning system is the complete loss of data from one scan to the next.
At the moment the best way is 'player skill' to be able to keet track of the various contacts in your head.
It is true that a single site scanned by 3 probes and resulting in 2 possible locations will have the exact same signal strength for both contacts. So if you are scanning for one site and get 3, you can rule out the two that have the same strength. Not much, but every little bit helps.

If you have high enough astrometrics, you can leave the original 4 probes alone, deploy a new set of four at shorter range, and leapfrog your probe scan ranges until you lock down just the one you want.

This has been my experience.

The simplest, fastest, way is to concentrate on the strongest signal. just select it from the list of returns and the rest will disappear so just probe it down. Sure you might wind up finally probing down a diiferent sig but pretty quickly uyou'll have one scanned down. warp to it and it will show up on scan from then on with a name labeling it. So ignore that return and concentrate on the next strongest. Repeat until you get them all.
Got stuck in a system a couple of times and this system lets me sort through all the cosmic sigs till I find the way out.

Mark dots with add. probes(deactivated). Concentrate on one of sigs. Find out where and what it is. Activate one of the markers. Repeat.

Find one site and leave one probe there. Same for the next site you find. Leave the probes small and active. You'll get the signature you just found, but it will be accurate and obviously the site you just found (even if it's one probe). You also won't get extra signatures from bigger, less accurate probes that are wanting to "find" sites you've already found. Eventually you'll be able to sift through the sites. Also think about leaving one big probe in the area. Sometimes that helps to keep things organized.
