Grab the latest WineBottler(it's Darwine's successor and the One True Mac Wine), it should have no problems installing the 2.0 framework. That's really all you should need. |

I'll give it a go.
Some of these posts are horrendously stupidly out of date and lacking consistency.
so it makes it a bit frustrating. |

Very nice.... bit unstable in places... but worked far more efficiently and more effectively than previous attempts.... at least that's what it appears to be. :)
I'll update as I get it working.
This is better than darwine... that's for sure. |

Hi everyone, I was just looking at what your all saying about running evemon on mac. Sounded very complicated. So I looked at running evemon on vmware fusion inside mac, looks ok, maybe just as complicated. But I already have it installed anyway for other things. Wanted to get any input on that. thanks........ptc......aurl

I've had no issue running EFT under Crossover, though for some reason it doesn't let me select different ammo types using the same version linked to me by my corpmates that have that functionality. Other than that all features seem to work.
The biggest thing preventing Crossover from running Evemon is the inability to load net...something....2.0. I forget what it's called but it's a roadblock.

Yep. Crossover has some extra sanity checks in it where it will outright abort running a .Net application rather than silently fail at certain operations. If you want to run EVEMon, you have to use WineBottler. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

thanks for the instructions guys... I think it would be worth clarifying in the op that you don't need to do the source compile stuff if you just download the dmg.

I gotta say, downloading winebottler worked right away. When I ran the other way with DarWine, several hours later it popped up that it couldn't even open a window
Anyway.. I have WineBottler installed, and it's setting up "tricks". I'm curious, has anyone documented what tricks to enable? Or heck.. exactly how you run evemon, or EFT? I guess I'll see soon enough.. !

The only trick you should need is the .Net 2.0 framework. Once that's in, clicking on an executable should take care of everything. WineBottler associates itself with Windows executables. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

Every time I run EveMon installer exe it runs a profiler, runs through everything needed, then hangs on this particular item;
So then, I close Wine, and re-open, and it works fine till it asks for .Net!
Mono 2.2 will install flawlessly, but dotnet30 will popup runtime errors. So.. I installed the MS Visual C++ 2008 SP1 libs. Then I re-tried installing dotnet30. I also installed core fonts. Seems to work now!
I will add.. EFT was way easier to get working since it's not dependant on .Net.

I'm not on my Mac at the moment so I can't double-check this, but it looks like it's running the "bottler" bit of WineBottler - it's creating a bottle for EVEmon. Bottles are basically self-contained Wine environments (Wine by default has everything share one environment). I'm not sure why it's doing that since bottling isn't the default function. However you should be fine. Just figure out where it dropped the bottle, and run that. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

I've come to a hitch.. I'm not sure why either, but it seems when I run eft on my mac, the graphics look all weird. Is there anyway to fix that? I'll get a screenshot if I can!

There's an option to force high-color mode in EFT. Use it. For some reason the transparency on the icons is off in true-color mode. This won't fix the layering issues however, so on a loadout screen the icons will still partially obstruct text values. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

Ok I have a late 2008 MBP, latest version of Leopard just prior to the new Snow Leopard, I downloaded winebottler 2.0 from the link on this thread, followed the instructions from the original post (minus all the compiling stuff that winebottler takes care as I understand it), and downloaded the latest from Evemon and EFT. EFT launches and works as far as I've tested it. Evemon does not work upon launch and returns the following error report:
EVEMon Version: 1.2.8.1641 .NET Runtime Version: 2.0.50727.42 Operating System: Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Executable Path: Z:\Users\charlesdiehl\Downloads\Release\EVEMon.exe
System.ArgumentException: The AddressFamily 513 is not valid for the System.Net.IPEndPoint end point, use InterNetwork instead. Parameter name: socketAddress at System.Net.IPEndPoint.Create(SocketAddress socketAddress) at System.Net.NetworkInformation.SystemUnicastIPAddressInformation.ToAddressInformationCollection(IntPtr ptr) at System.Net.NetworkInformation.SystemIPInterfaceProperties..ctor(FixedInfo fixedInfo, IpAdapterAddresses ipAdapterAddresses) at System.Net.NetworkInformation.SystemNetworkInterface..ctor(FixedInfo fixedInfo, IpAdapterAddresses ipAdapterAddresses) at System.Net.NetworkInformation.SystemNetworkInterface.GetAdaptersAddresses(AddressFamily family, FixedInfo fixedInfo) at System.Net.NetworkInformation.SystemNetworkInterface.PostWin2KGetNetworkInterfaces(AddressFamily family) at System.Net.NetworkInformation.SystemNetworkInterface.GetNetworkInterfaces(AddressFamily family) at System.Net.NetworkInformation.SystemNetworkInterface.InternalGetIsNetworkAvailable() at System.Net.NetworkInformation.NetworkChange.AvailabilityChangeListener.Start(NetworkAvailabilityChangedEventHandler caller) at System.Net.NetworkInformation.NetworkChange.add_NetworkAvailabilityChanged(NetworkAvailabilityChangedEventHandler value) at EVEMon.Common.Net.NetworkMonitor.Initialize() in d:\tmp_svn\EVEMonFoundations\EVEMon.Common\Net\NetworkMonitor.cs:line 42 at EVEMon.Common.EveClient.Initialize() in d:\tmp_svn\EVEMonFoundations\EVEMon.Common\EveClient.cs:line 83 at EVEMon.Program.Main() in d:\tmp_svn\EVEMonFoundations\EVEMon\Program.cs:line 55
Any suggestions? I notice right away that the OS is set to NT. I've tried using Winetricks to set the OS to XP and to default but both give the above result.

For Snow Leopard, install Xcode, then get Darwine here:
darwine 1.1.27
then follow the directions as OP...

I'll give that a try when I upgrade to snow leopard. In the meantime if there are other recommendations, I'm all ears.

I installed both Darwine and WineBottler. Installed .NET 2.0, then took the EVEMon installer .exe and created a "bottle" for it in my Applications folder. When I launch it, I get a small Action window with a progress bar, which never completes. The Wine menu icon shows that the .exe is open, but EVEMon never really launches. As for EFT, double-clicking the executable adds EFT to the list of running .exe files in the Wine menu, but again, no launch.
Not sure where to go from there. Thoughts, comments, criticisms?

I find this guide and all these apps deeply confusing, is it supposed to be this hard or am I doing something wrong?(obviously I am doing it wrong but wtf) I try to find guides on how to use winebottler but all I find is a couple of ¿wiki¿ pages telling me it's a beta and how to use some other f*** app.
this **** is starting to wind me up...

Fokuri, the latest WineBottler should work. Install it, then have it install the .Net 2.0 framework, and then you should be set to install EVEMon. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

Edited by: Nolana Kane on 09/02/2010 02:40:49 EFT runs with Wine and WineBottler on Snow Leopard.
I pointed WineBottler to the actual exe (since no installer is provided) with .NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0 and later opened the created app package and added the missing files in the winebottler subdirectory.
There are some minor issues running it, but I could import my characters and fit ships just fine.

It would be a hell of a lot easier to just run a native Mac equivalent to EFT/EVEMon/EVEHQ or whatever. If there is one that works, of course. I'm looking.

I have the latest version of Winebottler. I just installed the latest (release) version of EVEMon, and it's crashing a lot. I can reproduce the crash if I open a training plan, then go to the helpful 'tip' that pops up in the top-right corner, and click on the 'close' button. As soon as I do that, EVEMon dies. It also randomly dies at other points, but reports the same error.
Can anybody else duplicate this, and/or offer a solution?

I'll go explore how to report an issue to WINE. I suppose it could even be a bug in EVEMON - maybe it crashes under Windows too ;)
