I followed up on the reports I spoke of earlier and retraced the tracks of my fellow pilot, and it is with the following screens which my camera drone captured that I can confirm that a sleeper presence not only in known space, but in a high security system of one of our largest empires. I fear, with the unpreditable nature of wormholes, that the sleepers should they choose to do so, could invade any one of our sovereign systems... and may even be laying the groundwork for such an invasion.
The sleeper was able to evade me by creating spatial rifts of some sort which it jumped through, though my ships sensors were able to lock on to these and keep them open long enough for me to follow it through, until eventually it jumped beyond my scanning range altogether.

http://dl.eve-files.com/media/0903/sleeper2cg.jpg
The analysis my ship recorded did enable me to recalibrate my sensors and I headed out into space again and was able to track the signature... what I found is truly disturbing, it seems that the Rogue Drones that infest our own space might be colluding with the Sleepers. As I tracked it, I was attacked on multiple occasions by fleets of rogue drone frigates. This could represent an unprecedented level of danger to New Eden. Our rogue drones so far pale in comparison to the intelligence of the Sleepers that have been encountered in unknown space, if they were to share technology, or give them a beachhead into our space... the consequences don't bear thinking about.

Once I cornered the Sleeper, it did something rather unexpected... it self destructed rather than be captured or destroyed by me.

what are they hiding?

I think you assume too much Mr. Graystock. I don't wish to downplay the threat that the so called "Sleepers" may theoretically pose to New Eden but I think that this is a simple case of the Rouge Drones doing what the Rouge Drones do. We have seen in the past innumerable times that the Drones will happily assimilate other technology into their own. A perfect example would be the many sighting of Dominix class Battleships taken over by the drones. I think what we are seeing here is more likely to be a Sleeper Drone than has been assimilated by the Rogue Drones rather than anything as sinister as you suspect.
I hope I am right I really do for I have fought these Sleepers and they are highly dangerous. Even if they aren't though the technology possessed by CONCORD still far outstrips them and maybe in light of this threat it is time that the DED stopped having the monopoly on this technology and started handing over some of their secrets. ---

Pilot Greystock,
This is interesting and relevant to my research. I will be speaking with you soon, concerning the rogue drones in the federation.

That in of itself is not a hostile act. We've been rampaging through their space for weeks now, are you really surprise the Sleepers are now poking their heads into New Eden?

This in itsself is truely disturbing. It tends to make us capsuleers rethink what little intelligence reports that filter down stating that these entities are usually only reactionary and defensive. With the storm of wormholes that have been occuring, it seems only logical that the massive amounts of energy and electromagnetic radiation would be causing them, and the forces behind their continued existance in uncharted space to be taking the same steps into Empire space as we are into their space, expecially considering the across the board hostility displayed by forces from the Empire.
Personally, I think we awoke a sleeping bear, and we're finding out that things are a little more complicated than we first imagined. As far as we've seen, rogue drones are usually no match for these ships when compared with the damage that we've been forced to endure during our expeditions, and we know the rogue drone hives don't have the technology yet to enter W-Space. This is truely a disturbing trend.

Obviously if it was so easily destroyed, then the threat of these sleepers is highly over estimated.

Very intriguing...not only are they traveling into our galaxy now, but also communicating and working with other AI...
I warn those who underestimate the Sleeper synthetics, they are more capable than many capsuleers. I admit, I am guilty of passing the synthetics off as the remains of a long-gone civilization, but it seems they have developed into something of their own. Capsuleers have this nature to see themselves as the top of the food-chain, a severe misjudgement. There is always a "bigger fish", so to speak. I welcome any of you to locate a wormhole to unknown-space and engage the Sleepers. You will find your ego shattered, if not your ship and crew.
The fact that they are now working with "Rogue" drones is even more troubling...We have multiple regions completely infested with these rogues who, if unified, would be a force equal to any single empire. Under the leadership of the Sleeper synthetics, I imagine they could overpower all four empires quite easily.
Hmm...this definately changes things.

There is one very old data record that I've been trying to restore lately, the work has been slow and painstaking, but what I've managed to decipher from it so far is this:
"Von Neumann Berserker: A self replicating machine that will not stop."
This one sentence has me worried, very worried indeed. The data record itself is very old as I said, my best guess is atleast ten millennia, possibly more! If this data record is right, are we facing these Berserker machines in the space behind wormholes? What if they find their way into our known space?
Our own oh-so-familiar Rogue Drones could be classified as these Von Neumann things too I guess, they certainly self replicate, and stopping them takes major firepower and usually ends up in loss of ships and crews too.

Stop going off topic, this is a great threat to anyone with a right mind. Now they know we're here, how long will it take for them to work out how to defeat us on our own terms, rogue drones procreate at an alarming rate, literally infesting entire regions as mentioned above. IF these forces were united against us, what chance can we have?

I was not suggesting that man owned the Eden cluster, or any planet for that matter, more that we inhabit it therefore it is "ours" in the sense of being our habitat. It is important that we protect our ecology to secure the continuation of our strand, no?
Ironically we aren't the ones who wield the clippers...but yes, back on topic...
The rogue drones are easy to defeat on their own, but are still capable foes. They can overtake most modern technologies for use of their own such as spacecraft and weapon/missile systems. Working under the synthetics command you can expect them to act with the same precesion and tenacity that they Sleepers do, only with quicker reproduction. From what I've seen, the Sleeper synthetics lack harvesting drones. This could be due to my limited experiences, however if this is true the assimilation of the rogue drone population would benefit the Sleepers greatly by giving them new methods of resource gathering.

I will try to use smaller words for you Gallentean, if we invade them, why can they not invade us? You reap what you sow after all.
Its all about mindsets, perhaps you have been around the Caldari too long to understand cause and effect, midlessly joining the headlong rush to make isk and only now are you worrying about what beasts you have upset?

I must admit that these Sleepers worry me some. I have not yet had the chance to engage them in combat, but I can't say that the reports, rumors and stories I have heard from people who have were very reassuring.
We can only hope that this incursion was a fluke. As divided as New Eden is, between the wars of civilizations and the wars of corporations, I doubt we are in any kind of position to offer a unified defense to an invasion from unknown space.
All we can really do is watch, wait and keep alert.
