I have been reading pirate guides and it has come to my attention that apparently the Rifter is the best frigate class ship (Not sure what race that is), also that missile systems do not deal the highest damage (they are more in between). There is also a delay from when the missile is fired and when it hits. How big of a factor is this in pvp? How do Caldari ships stack up in pvp warfare, in the frigate class battlecruiser/battle ship configuration? Id like a summary of the different races if at all possible like what are their advantages and disadvantages?
Do you think that i should start training for a rifter? I have about 5 msp, with quite a lot of that in to missiles. I really want to have the best equipment/weapon systems and im afraid to be held back by the missile systems and shield tanking? Again im unsure so if im saying something wrong please point it out. What is better armor tanking or shield tanking. Any help would be greatly apretiated thanks.

Lana, sucks CCP nerfed your trolling business venture. I thought all things were fair game in Eve. Perhaps if you reformed your business venture as "Psychological Propoganda" you would fair better, without the forum fascists beating you down?

I'm not out of business yet. If my primary competitor wants to play dirty then two can play at that game.

The Rifter is a good ship for PvP, but not worth thinking about in your case. Too much investment for you in training for the ship, armor taking, etc...
Go the merlin and train up your skills in energy management, shield tanking and tech2 standard missile launchers so you can fit faction ammo.
Orbit nice and close with an afterburner, which reduces time delay from firing to impact and makes you harder to hit.

I'm a caldari player myself but I stopped and trained Mimatar a while back. If your gonna be serious in PvP I would advise you to train a different race because Caldari are allot more limited on PvP options than any of the other races.
Five mill. sp isn't going to set you back that much plus you will use your missile skills on other races ships. That being said in the mean time you do have some options, like a rocket Kessie, and a blaster rocket Merlin. Drop me a line in-game if you need some more ideas.

caldari can be pretty solid in pvp but you really don't have the luxury of being able to tackle for yourself; since the nanocerb got killed they don't really have any options that involve being able to close on targets and hold them down while pounding them.
the torp raven is still gnarly, and the scorp/rokh are useful. not to mention the falcon (because of falcon) and the crow isn't terrible. you're just gonna have to train for a while before you're useful is all ;/ -+- let's break out the shotguns, we're going to town

Tougher then the Kestrel, but a fair bit slower and needs better skills to be effective. This fit is also quite a lot more pricey, but you get what you pay for. You can upgrade to Neutron blasters but that restricts you to an afterburner.
Don't listen to the guy above talking about standard missiles; you want short range gank. ___________________

Umm, well I know that I'm not bad at it but wouldn't ever get such a big head to say that I'm good at it.
Generally it's always better specialising in something that being okish at lots of things. He already has skills in shield tanking and missiles, a skilled Caldari pilot in a well fitted ship, with great cap management.. can beat a half-arsed trained pilot in a rifter.

Honestly you're going to want to fly something bigger then a frigate if you're after t1 pvp ships. Caldari tend to be bad at pvp for many reasons, mainly because your midslots are being taken up by shield tanking stuff/missiles can be outrun by speedy ships, negating their damage. Here's a guide I wrote on what ships you should be training for if you want to pvp: Linkage

99% of the complaints against both missiles and Caldari ships in PvP are exaggerations. The first and last missile volley are the only ones that suffer from flight time related complications because in both cases you aren't likely to be the one who gets the final blow on the enemy ship. A common complaint is that if you engage from far away then the enemy warps out before taking damage... but what were you doing engaging an untackled ship anyway?
The most glaring disadvantage Caldari have in PvP is in the solo arena. More than anyone else they suffer when trying to fit tackle, but in a gang this doesn't actually matter, and you can use your mids for tank or non-tackle EWar to better effect. They also lack in the out and out gank department but I believe this is partially balanced by the fact that they don't usually have to sacrifice anything more useful in the low slots in order to fit damage mods (except on the passive recharge tank setups.)
