Edited by: Min Mae on 31/03/2009 06:37:40 Edited by: Min Mae on 31/03/2009 06:29:54 ... and I was doing great DPS vs Frigates and Cruisers. I help someone else in another mission and and instead of doing 120-200 damage per 4 Blasters, suddenly Im only doing 40-60.
Maybe this belongs in the Newby forum, but is that just resistances cutting my dps more than in half?
*Edit: Getting exact fit now... stand by for transmission.

Possible, possible. Although it may have merely been a case of the npcs laughing so hard at your fitting that they forgot to take damage.

Correct. It is a well documented phenomenon that many New Eden inhabitants show a marked fall in DPS BECAUSE OF FALCON.

It is because you're fitting t1 blasters, the BECAUSE OF FALCON is a recent forum meme. That, and resists will slice your damage down something cruel.

Thanks for actully reading my post...
I said I was doing *300+ damage in one mission, 40 damage in the next. No change in set up.
I looked at my logs and found some 300-400 shots from the first mission, presumable with shields down on the target. I was able to reproduce that plenty of times. Subtle changes in orbiting distance were producing wildly changing damage cause my optimals are all screwy. Working on that.
The second mission max damage I did was 63 (group of 4).

Could just be a case of fighting "elite" npcs in the second mission, they tend to have much higher resists than the "basic" npcs.

Probably this.
A lot of the NPCs have moderate resists but some of them have HAC/AF-like resists and take drastically reduced damage from the "wrong" damage type. The only ships that can really get around this are missile boats with damage to all missiles and drone boats.
They usually have a fancy name or can be identified in the type column.
This is what the "BECAUSE OF FALCON" guy was getting at
Also, weapons should always be T2 for the extra damage and the cool glowy bits.

Thanks, looks like it could be a combination of resits (they were a pair of dirrerently named falcons - i assume) and i may have been getting tracking disruption and was too busy to notice.
Also possible it was just a mission thing, as there is some kinda station you had to kill inthe mission, possible repair station...
I dunno... Rails are kinda nice after checking those out... easier to play with too. Thanks for your advice.

You need to look the specific NPC up by name.

This place is OK. Out of date info on some missions but generally it's good.
This is your mission on eve survival: http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=CutThroatCompetition3
It's more up to date although no per-ship damage breakdown.

1. Tech 1 fit on a 20m ISK assault frigate 2. Could be resistances. You deal entirely kinetic and thermal, and some rats are better at tanking that than others 3. What the hell are you doing flying a blarpy for missions? =/ |
