whilst solo pvp is not dead, its definately a bit decrepid, and many of us who love this game and enjoy pvp but dont have the time spare in our lives to go looking for the elusive 'great fight' one on one action,(or as a change from blobbage warfare) i offer the following idea as a remedy, 'Duelling Arenas', the option to log on, goto the arena, have a few scraps, then log off and back to wiping the babies arse or whatever you need to do. The RL equivalent to goin down your local kicky punchy fight club type thing,,. or down town on a friday night,,,,.
duelling arenas-
*one on one pvp combat within a designated hisec system per eve region*
-warp to duelling arena beacon within the system, at wich there will be several jump gates for each ship class, frigate, cruiser ect.
-jump through relevant gate for your ship class and enter its arena
-all pilots within each arena class deadspace pocket automatically join chat group
-approach the 'bookkeepers outpost' and access its interface
-the interface will allow
- challenges to be made to any pilot within the pocket
-set different ranges for the duel, e.g. first down to 10% shields loses, 10% armour, 10% structure, or To The Death,
-set the starting distance from each combatant and the area of fight ring
-wagers bartered on the outcome of duels are arranged between combatants
-once your parameters are set you send the challenge to your fellow pilot
-the challenged pilot would recieve a window similar to gang invite with all relevant details shown
-the challenged pilot is offered the option to accept or decline the duel
-the chat group for the arena pocket could be used to pre arrange parameters for a duel or a private chat
-on acceptance of a duel both combatants are auto warped to there starting beacon
-an appropriate countdown would begin after wich fighting would commence
-once preset parameters for duel are met offensive modules are disabled
-winnings are then handed over by 'bookkeeper' and outcome added to combat log
-concord rules would apply as normal outside of duel arrangements
-leaderboards and statistics could be accessed through the interface along with potential rewards for the top class pvpers
*an addition of official duel challenges to the mail system could also be implemented ,possibly in tandem with an honour standing, in wich you could send out a duel challenge to an enemy who may of grief blobbed you in the past or he buggered your cat, whatever, if he fails to accept within an allotted time he loses honour standing, the cowardly custard,,. this idea is a bit problematic because of timezones and such though.
its probably been said before but nemind eh, i said it again :)

I agree, next add arena points and make all spaceships come from arena point rewards rather than a player build economy, then make it so you have to farm arena every week to get spaceships that way we can destroy the game.

We have a DM server its called the test server where you can wast all the ships you wont and test them..
death match eve..
pet pevs about it is you can only use what skills you have and cant use navy mods or ships..

does this really undermine how eve works for you guys??,, pick a fight anywhere in eve, pick a fight in arena whats the diff?? nothing except garaunteed one on one, thats all, the last bit about cowardly custards was lame i admit, but as for main idea, a bit carebearyfied true, but wouldnt make a difference to game other than make a quick spot o fair pvp available when we aint got 10hrs spare for alli ops,. whats the prob?, jeez, valium anyone?

what is it going to be next like jumpgate where you have PVP mission
which pretty much boil down to kill everything, if you want pvp how about get some balls and go to 0.0/low sec and bring a point with you :)

Problem is, its such a WoW idea. Even though WoW, in its own right, has its merits, it is completely different from EVE. EVE's PVP is non-consensual. Any PVP pilot in the game will reject this idea, for a number of reasons. Its not needed and if ever implemented would never be used.
Personally my reason is that there are no tears in this. I love the fact that in EVE my gain is another's loss, and those who are willing to be a cutthroat will gain the most. This idea diminishes the cold harshness of the game.

why is it the opposite? eve is a community, you need to buy something you go to the shops(market) you want to roll with your mateypeeps, (gang up with allies) you wanna go see a movie(stare at bubbles:) you wannago to the cage match-?-?-? what?? whats frickin so wrong :)) tells meh

I support the idea of the simulator CCP tried to add, but reject the OPs idea.
A neat diversion for testing fits = good
Big, overdone mechanics involving fighting in actual ships which you then don't lose (lolwut) = fail

A disparity of force will always exist whether in skills, ship, fit or an individual's ability.
Please do not try to inject an antithetical element into something that is a slightly flawed masterpiece.
If you crave this type of intercourse with other players please see your way to the annual alliance PVP competition. It is substantially similar to your naive suggestion.
You are not entitled to the functionality you describe simply because it may or may not interfere with another player's play style.
Your suggestion does, in fact, interfere with the play style of a plurality of the player base.
Lastly, why did you post this on the wrong forum?
Was that deliberate or done from ignorance?

Hmm, I smell a business venture in this. Scrap that WoW style system. Instead something like corporate sponsored "Death Matches" and associated gamblings in deep space. Then there's also the Cannonball Run to even make it out to the event.

While i dont directly support the idea, I do wonder how come there are NO death-match games going on in the eve-galaxy?
If this world is so cruel and tough why arent there atleast some gladiator fights we can watch/participate in?
the tournament you say? Thats hardly a public participation thing, and it only happens once a year.
I want some gladiator fights with spaceships damnit!

There is only one way that this would work, if it was player implemented.
I dont want CCP holding peoples hands in pvp.
If its player implemented, then there is no guarantee that it will be fair, it will still be risky, but players can build reputations with bookie characters who would warn/ban players from participating.

You got gladiator fights with spaceships at the recent alliance tournament that anyone was free to watch online.
If you crave more frequent spaceship battles, perhaps you should equip and arm your own force and venture forth into Wormhole Space. If you wish to guarantee excitement and battle you may be able to hire a notorious pirate organization to accompany your intrepid group.
You may also consider the utilization of FRAPS or a similar utility to memorialize your exploits for posterity or public consumption.

arenas wouldn't be bad if they had only one option (to the death) and there was no rules on 1v1 so you could blob the **** out of anyone. Oh lets call the new arenas wormhole space and add thousands on them everywhere and make easily accessable 0.0 then evetyone can lose ships and keep the economy flowing actually keep eve the way it is kthxbai

What is this point you speak of?
EDIT: Go to the SIngulairty serve. Everything costs 1000 isk (the isk price is a guess I have not been able to get onto SISI) and there is not supposed to be non-consensual pvp
