the issue is that may be i will buy 4GB more of RAM for my work station and i want to know if eve will use it if not i will save the money. i already have 2gb.

x86 can only address 4GB of RAM, if the OS can't see it neither can EVE more than 4GB on a 32-bit OS is pointless :) --------- Liberty Rogues Site[/center]

Eve seems to run at about 400 with mid-high graphics in station, sometimes 500-550 after a few missions, but sometimes goes to 600-700 in graphic heavy scenes/areas i find. ______________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

No, and nor can anything else - Win32 has a pre-process address space limit of 2GB.
You might get some general performance increases if you have a lot of other things running, but that's going to be a lack of RAM in general that's causing your bottleneck rather than Eve specifically.

If you don't need RAM for anything else, stick to 2gb. |

or make it 3.. however RAM is cheep and if your MB does stiping on the ram then 4GB may be worth it - especially if you are thinking of XP 63 or vista 64 any time soon -- BIG Lottery, BIG Deal, InEve |

RAM is cheap, 4 gig is for wimps, at least 8 Gigs makes you a MAN! and 16 Gig makes you uber!
Seriously just to clearify, 32 bits OS will see 4 gigs of addressable memory. This is BTW not limited to RAM hence the reason you see only like 3.25 gig in a 4 gig machine. MOST 32 bit software, of which EVE is one, only see up to 2 gigs of that RAM. This means that moving to 3 gig will improve multitasking and might by such benefit have a MILD effect on EVE performance but anything beyond that will have no effect without moving to a 64 bit OS.
However even running a 64 bit OS the game will not directly benefit from the RAM. It will however allow you to 2 box better, multitask like a champ and get other nerds to drool. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, God will be a light unto me. |

Indeed, it's addressable memory ANYWHERE in the system and some of it is shadowed into the address space.
I have an SLI setup with 768MB of RAM on each card, so that would only leave 2.5GB of possible system RAM since video RAM is shadowed into the address space.
Kinda forced me to buy Vista 64 and I haven't looked back since :)

so if i change the SO to 64 bits eve WILL use the 100% of the memory?
as i know a 32 bit aplication only use the first 4gb of ram it has something to do with the way that was programed that's my question i use a 3 accounts and a lot of programs more if eve use the correctly the 4gb + adresses i will migrate to 64 bit SO with my 6 gb of ram :P (and may be 8 XD)

so if I have vista 64bit, with 8GB of ram, will eve use all of it, or is there a limit?
