Hi!
My old hard drive died, but I have a backup of my settings folder from my Eve/Win Vista install so now that I've replaced my hard drive I'm trying to get all my backed up overview settings to take again. I'm still using Windows Vista 64 bit like before.
I found a settings folder in my user folder under: my username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility\settings
but every time I try and copy the backed up info from my old settings folder into this settings folder (which then shows that it has the backed up files in it) and I log on, the game seems to overwrite the transferred files anyway with the unedited overview a brand new account would spawn with.
Sheesh!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DonÆt know if I can help but you say in your note you changed your hard drive. I wonder if changing the drive has changed your security settings so Vista thinks the files are from a different user and overwrites them æto protect youÆ.
What I would do is proceed as you have done and copy over the files then before running Eve go into the folder and right click each file and check if the security of the file matches your new computer. You may have slightly changed the PC name or your name or something. If they donÆt match then I believe you can click an option to remove the security settings (I think itÆs under the [Details] tab).
I can remember having to do something like that to get some files from an old Vista machine to appear and work on a new one, but it was a long time ago and my memory is not as good as it once was lol.

It's weird. All the backed up copies have an "Authenticated Users" listing under the Security tab (plus "SYSTEM," "Administrators" and "Users"), but once I copy the files into the actual Eve Settings folder, that entry disappears and I am left with "SYSTEM" at the top, then my username, then "Administrators" as the security list you can edit. I tried to give the other listings full Control to modify the file, etc., but they were already set to do that in the Eve folder.
So I think we're on to something. It must be one of the missing or changed listings that's causing the mixup.
If anyone else has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated. I actually have multiple acccounts so I have a lot of customized overviews and characters to fix here.
