If you like log on traps, your incompetent. The only way you can hide your numbers is to log off. GG. You sir, win eve. If only you could learn to stay logged off.

I buy this argument, and include this breed in with the winners that bait cans for noobs outside of Jita ...

Can baiting preys on naivete and/or arrogance, whereas logon traps are an abuse of game mechanics. Big difference.

This conclusion is weak. There's intelligent PvP, then there's stupid, clueless cowardly PvP that results in only false ego inflation.

Welcome to the sandbox known as EvE!
Next time don't pick a fight unless your sure you can accept your losses imo, regardless of tactic!

Yes. The moment you log on to EvE technically you have picked to fight. Maybe not by choice but you have submitted yourself to the reactions of others at any time and any place. Your saying that if I step into a boxing ring with a bunch of people fighting around me that I should not get hit?

They day that everyone and their grandmother doesn't fly around low sec and 0.0 with a trial account alt one jump ahead of them, the need for using log on traps will start to diminish.
The day that all local goes to delayed mode, there will simply be no reason at all to do log on traps. ---------------------------------

Right. This is a somewhat anti-social view and I don't think this necessarily reflects the reality of EVE.
Its true, that 0.0, is the sandbox your view represents .. but I know players that have never experienced 0.0, that have never left empire, and felt the thrill of being chased or hunted or caught.
You may not engage in this playing style yourself, but that's not to say there aren't those who do - like it or not.
There is an anti-social side of EVE, just as there's a social side.

You're an idiot. That will just make logon traps more potent by removing the 30 seconds of "oh crap local just spiked" warning you get. Also, low sec hardly matters as you can just avoid it, or traverse it in a frig, which no one can catch.

I believe logon traps are petitionable as an exploit.
Also, I agree that abuse of logon/logoff mechanics is weak.

Yup, I agree with this. The idea and concept of "Local" is, IMO, flawed and is one of the causes of a number of these stupid tricks. If you remove local, people won't need to do the log on trap because they can just hide in safe spots (and consequently scanners and probers become more useful).
At the very least, I would love to see some sort of technological explanation of how everyone has the super scan device called Local that instantly lets them know everyone who's in a star system as them. I so wish they'd change it to the same kind of local as in wormholes.

Sensors and scanners have been around since WW2, knowing where your enemy is and his numbers is perhaps the biggest part of warfare today....and you're telling me that far into the future they will have lasers and stuff but no effective "local" insta scan ??
Removing local will just leave people wondering around like headless chickens clicking "scan" all day....personally i'd rather be fighting... or running like hell.
