Playing EvE it seems like there are some pretty cool ships and some pretty bad ones, in terms of design/aesthetics. What ship(s) from another source would you like to be able to fly around in EvE?
I have always been partial to the Star Wars A-Wing and Y-Wing which would obviously be frigates.
We could keep talking about this all day but you're too busy reading my sig instead.

Ok, you missed the point big time. Assuming you have seen/read/played any other space SyFy medium, is there a particular ship you would like to bring into EvE to take into battle?

I've seen wrecks on missions that mimic the old Enterprise.
It would be nice to have a noob tutorial that has you destroy decommisioned starships that conincidently look like Star Wars/Trek just for grins.

I wish they would make a new skins for the Imicus and Helios. I did not get a chance to fly the Helios when it had the Maulus skin and I always feel like I am flying around in space in a broken skillet.
I love the ship itself for its agility and higher top speed than other Cov Ops, but I really really dislike the skin. It does not even really look like a ship, just some knobby hunk of junk that melted on a burner.

If Eve looked/felt/moved like the above then I'd never play another game again.
The variation in ship types & styles is very well done as is the uniformity of ships to whatever race made them. Organic & truly alien looking ships are also very well done and seem to be sorely lacking in Eve (rouge drones & sleepers don't quite cut it for me).
In fact, maybe CCP should just hire that modding team for a while

The Virago.
Gallentean, armor tank, assault frigate class. They could advertise it as the Tristan MK II.
(TBH I would in no way be surprised if the Tristan was inspired by the Viragoùthe Tristan was originally planned to also have its "wings" fold open during an attack)
I would also be very interested in flying the Dreadnought from HW2, or the little Progenitor Drones that originally guarded it. That Dreadnought, IMO, has to be the definition of a muscleship.

Have siad it before, and I'd say it again:
If CCP could just get the rights from EA, the Vesuvius from Wing Commander III and IV would fit the themes of EvE so well, it could replace the Caldari carrier and be 300% cooler while doing so.
Not to mention the Durango-class Heavy Destroyers (it'sw even got eight hardpoints already on the model!), or the Hades-class strike cruiser, which a certain T3 ship setup already bears a resemblance to...
All sorts of cool ships can be mined from past videogames...those are just some of my favorites, for what they're worth.

The Galactica would be my choice. I feel like it would actually fit quite well. Autocannons and missles plus being a carrier. I feel like it would go Minmatar but I'm not really sure on that since it's not "patchy" enough (though its condition after the battle at New Caprica might make it patchy enough).

The Defiant from DS9, Cloaking Edition.(by all standards in EVE that ship was Tech 2) Imperial Star Destroyer, its a carrier that has like 200 Mega Pulse lasers, cant loose.

Man, beat me to it - so what you're looking for is the second, revised Death Star, which if completed would have fixed that vulnerability as I'm sure you recall.

Hmm, lots of ships I'd like to fly really...
For being just about the most iconic fighter spaceship in game history: Vic Viper (Nemesis/Gradius series)
For being something that could actually work if it was made for real: Starfury (Babylon 5)
For just being super badass: SDF-1 (Macross/Robotech)
For being so obscure that it's nigh impossible to find a proper picture of it: OTZ weaponship (Earth Star Voyager) Needs the Voyager ship to go in the opening in the front
There's plenty of other ships I'd like though.

Why have a battlestation that IS NO MOON, when you can HAVE the moon!

I have always been partial to the Star Wars A-Wing and Y-Wing which would obviously be frigates.
They wouldn't be frigates.
A-Wing would probably be a Light Combat Drone Y-Wing would be a Medium Combat Drone B-Wing possibly would be a Heavy Combat Drone X-Wing would be a Medium Combat Drone TIE/ln would be Light Combat Drone TIE Advanced/TIE Bomber would be Medium Combat Drones TIE Defender would be a Heavy Combat Drone if the B-Wing is as well.
CCP could have made a fortune if they could of got use of the SW IP reskinned EVE into a SW game as well and had a SW server. (It would have made a nice time frame during the Rebellion era when there were no active Jedi and only Vader and the ever reclusive Emperor).
Security would be from Core systems (1.0 systems) to Outer Rim Territories (0.0). Security set by how the Galactic Empire looks at it. Certain border sectors could serve like factional warfare where you could join the Rebel Alliance or Galactic Empire :)....0h well one can dream.
(A Battlestar Galactica skinned one would do well to, it could be set during the initial Colony-Cylon war....I'd used classic BG rather than the recent redo)
(A Star Trek one based near the Neutral Zone would be interesting :) )

Going with an unusual option: the Rama from Arthur C Clarke's books. The idea of flying a living breathing research lab is very appealing.
For something more convetnional - the Arc Hammer from Dark Forces, probably Battleship sized.
For something fighter sized....the R-Type fighter!
One of these babies can chew through almost anything (except on the 4th level of R-Type Delta where I get owned by the huge stomping robot). Imagine a *carrier-load* of R-Type fighters.....mmwwwhaaaa.....

Edited by: Esna Pitoojee on 02/07/2009 16:45:36 My first choice would be the Executor-class Star Dreadnought.
It's a nineteen-kilometer-long (about the length of the minmatar titan) beast with over 4,000 giga pulse laser equivalents (that can track and hit drone-sized objects, no less), 250 citadel torpedo launcher equivalents, 250 Siege blaster equivalents, and 500 mega pulses (again, capable of not only tracking fighters but actually shooting down missiles...).
Not to mention thousands of medium/light/heavy drone equivalents...
Oh, and did I mention it has a jump drive equivalent that can take it anywhere in the galaxy, and it can resist multiple collisions at relatavistic speeds with carrier-sized objects without flinching? The thing is pure, distilled win. ----------------------------------------------
Say "Amarr ships suk, lol." I dare you.

Neh - The Yamato is pretty passe - ever hear of any ship equipped with a doomsday? That's be the Wave Motion Gun equivalent... yawn. Doesn't do anything that isn't already in-game.
What I'd like to see is something a bit more...creative than derivative (though, admittedly, this thread is ALL ABOUT derivation).
Examples:
How about the Leeches from HW:Cataclysm as a drone? Requires Mining Drones V, when sent against a ship they slowly mine the ship, ignoring shields and putting the recovered minerals into the controller's cargobay? Would give a whole new meaning to "wars of attrition" - heck, one tackled Titan could provide tons of minerals... With losses, of course They wouldn't be cloaked, but would be small and agile (read: VERY hard to hit) and wouldn't be affected by smartbombs when attached to a hull.
Or:
(as a random element) a new NPC: A Berzerker (salute to those who have actually read Saberhagen's work). VERY tough, agile NPC that would randomly fly around in lo/nullsec, destroying everything it came across then COMSUMING the wreckage to restore it's own health. Would be able to (and WOULD target) take out POS in any system it was in. Would require a LARGE fleet to kill, and would follow a chartable path anytime it appeared (adding both elements of strategy AND random shakeups of lo/nullsec) Have it's drops commensurate with the damage it does (that is, the longer it wreaks havoc the better stuff it drops, as it "collected" modules during it's rampage). Would certainlyliven up nullsec, if nothing else...especially if CCP put a decent AI programmer on the job, OR had it be a GM-only ship and had a GM take it out at least once a day...
If nothing else, it may also provide soem decent backstory ideas as well.

Serenity from FF of course (we already have our reaver ships thrown together from junk :)) Would have to be a smuggling ship, come on ccp give us a serenety transport please - now you have extra cargo holds i guess we will get drug smuggling ships soon(tm) make it look like serenety and your playerbase will jump once again, a game where you can play mal renolds and pilot serenity
As has been said infinate improbability drive would be great give us a way to turn missiles into flowers and whales although i think someone already has one of these they activated it and at a probibility of 3644 million to one goons now occupy delve and BoB is in empire fighting FW......

your all wrong even though you were only asked what ship you would like to fly around in eve blow stuff up in.
the correct answer are these two ships from battle fleet gothic the Emperor (which can carry an immense number of attack craft in addition to its normal weaponry)and the Retribution (which is noted for its powerful broadside firepower and its large number of torpedo tubes).
so there

I would love to fly the White Star class cruiser from Babylon 5.
The ship had stealth cloak, system jump capability, bio-armoured hull, Vorlon shields (tech III), quantum, neutron and fusion cannons (5 in total), had tractor beams and carried a compliment of 4 Fighters (not drones).
The ship specs would likely closely match a tech III cruiser in EVE, but the White Star looked amazing....
That would be my dream ship in EVE (some of the Jovian ships would be nice too...

Ships from the old Terran Trade Authority books would rock. I always liked the look of the gunship Gerling used as his flagship.

Glad I'm not the first person to say it, Tiger's Claw. Loaded with Raptors (screw the Rapier) I'd never need another ship. In fact I named my Thanatos "TCS Tiger's Claw".
A few people mentioned the Pkunk Fury from Star Control 2. Its way too light, doesn't hit hard enough, though I will admit the auto-smack feature would be nice. For me it'd be the Spathi Eluder. It is no exaggeration to say that an Eluder piloted by the good Captain Fwiffo is the ship I use 99% of the time in SC2. Its fast, its maneuverable, it can take a few hits and it can fire on the run.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned anything from Ender's Game. Take any ship with a Little Doctor and boom goes a blob. That and being commanded by a 12 year old from across the universe certainly describes all the ships in Eve.

Tbh I'd say EVEs ship models are far better looking. What I cannot understand for the life of me though is why they haven't done something about the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT aspect of a spacegame looking awesome. Planets.
You never interact with them perhaps, but they have so much to do with how space looks and feels. Less nebula, realistic planets, EVE wins. ---
