Im shocked about many new players flying awesome ships in such a short period of time. For example:
- Drake in 2 weeks - Raven in 1 month - Hulk in 1month
wtf
I think I needed several months for flying a Raven, and I just bought my Hulk after 5 months of gameplay. Why? cause I trained learning and core skills, which are very important.
Have you ever guys trained a learn skill? Can't stop laughing when I think of those Ravens, whose pilots can't even fit a Large Shield Extender II or whose rate of fire must be 15+ seconds cause they don't even bothered to train Rapid Fire, or can't fit too many missile launchers cause they lack of Powergrid (they got Engineering level 2...)

The problem is right there in what you said.
Sure they can fly the ship, but they cant use the decent gear :D

Edited by: Banana Torres on 04/04/2009 15:13:11 If you can fit three strip miners on you Hulk, does it matter if that is all you can fit?
A Raven doesn't need LSEs to run level 3 missions.
If you don't put your ships in danger, you don't need good fittings.
How about, you play the game the way you want and you let others play the game the way they want to. And don't be so arrogant as to assume that you know it all.

At the end of the day they can do what they want with their isk.
Your just trying to make yourself feel better because you spent a large amount of time doing nada but learning(getting every one to 5 is not worth it btw, as it would take years of skill training to make up for it)

Excitement at seeing a target, generally.
Then again, I generally fly through 0.0 space. Ravens out there are generally in rental corps/alliances and have names like XHASSHAFSKJA9 or something. ________________________________________________

If they are making ISK with it, I'm not gonna knock anyone for jumping in. If a person plays smart with online mission guides, getting into a Raven and being very careful to not kill triggers, avoid tougher missions (most lvl 4's need less tank than most people seem to want to admit, around 400 DPS or so), then go for it I say. They won't do 50 mil/hr. but enough to fund a pvp habit, gtc's, skills, etc.
Honestly, I think the best approach for any new player is to get into lvl 3's asap in a Drake and start making a bit of ISK. This game is miserable to play broke.

"Money doesn't buy happiness, but it sure makes misery easier to live with."
But really, a passive-tanked drake can easily blow through most L3s providing you fit the proper resists for the mission. Mine has 15k shield and regens ~90/s...which ends up being a targeted tank of around 400 DPS. That's with sub-par skills (just about 5M, but most of which is in Gunnery and other stuff). It also uses 0 cap except for warping, which makes neuting towers/ships laughable. |

I don't know about Ravens and Drakes, but is it seriously possible to fly a Hulk with strips in a month? If I remember Astrogeology V and Mining Barge V seemed to take forever and that's not counting the rest.

It's not the ship that's important...it's the gear.
Fitting a BS with pea-shooters just doesnt do it. _________________________ NERF CLONES!!!

Astrogeology V, Mining Barge V, and Industry + Mining + Refining V will take 2 months if not more at least. However, starting with a new character with skewed attributes (max int + mem for the industry and astrogeology, then max perc + wil for barge V) + the 100% bonus = may be possible. Fortunately I had Refining + Mining + Industry V when I first started (okay, Refining IV) since it was last year, but it still took ages.
This also doesn't include the ISK involved here...we're talking 150m+ for the books, the Hulk, and the mods to go with it.

Did you ever happen to check the PG requirements of cruise launchers? Even without any skill trained you will have plenty of PG left on a cruise raven. |
