It might occur to some people that the number of people connected to the internet over the last decade has increased dramatically where as Eve has been flat-line for years. |

And yet, while the population of the internet rises, many many games, especially MMOs crash and burn very fast, EVE does not, EVE continues to grow at a stable rate. It is not because it is a good game. It is because it is one of a kind, it has a niche market and no competitors. If it tried to be the fuzzy game that some people want it would be dead within a year because as a stand alone game without the creative sandbox it is very poor.
This is why it will never change and why CCP wants to push it further into the market they are guaranteed to hold. There are a lot of other games if you want to not have to show any effort at all to achieve something. Neither are bad, but this is not the game for that. Ferox #1 |

Why do I sit in a High Sec station most of the time and maybe run one or two missions a week? Simple... I live in Hawaii on the lovely island of Maui and I have entirely too many things to do here that are loads more fun than sitting in front of my computer for hours on end. If I lived somewhere else, I might actually spend more time in game than I do and would probably move back into Wormholes again but... With the very limited amount of time I actually spend (at my computer) in the game... I'd be more of a liability to any WH corp or Low/Null corp than I'd be worth so I que a skill, talk for a few minutes with a cpl friends and either log or, or leave my character online while I am off doing other things.
I so rarely undock, my Ships have developed a layer of dust on them and my Slaves have all starved in their pens. But... all that aside.
Eve is about PvP. Eve was designed from the get go (from my understanding anyway) that the progression of characters would be High-sec > Low > Null. That hasn't happened for the most part and so CCP seems to be trying different things to make this happen. To encourage characters and players to follow the progression the game was intended to follow.
I don't really see any major problem with this myself. Just my opinion.

As CCP decision to develop two games at once, one being a FPS, CCP doesn't know f**** about the market.
I've categorized the reasons for Eve's success in my head, and pushing people into Null isn't going to help. |

Greetings capsuleer Davion,
Old-earth had a device called a Magic 8 Ball. I believe Capsuleer Tassik was modelled on one of those, except his does not predict the future. It spews random misfortune cookies.
Once his point has been shown false and his lies are exposed he tends to be shaken a bit and delivers a stunningly stupid new pronouncement.
Test the theory on him. It is an interesting model.

Shian Yang wrote:Sigurd Sig Hansen wrote:Had I know you wanted to look like an idiot, and didnt want to make sense, I wouldnt have said anything. Ill do that in the future then Greetings capsuleer Hansen, A more correct way to state that would be: " Had I know you wanted to look like an idiot and didn't want to make sense I wouldn't have said anything. I'll do that in the future then." Didn't is a contraction of did and not, with the apostrophe standing in for the letter you dropped. The same applies to wouldn't (would not) and I'll (I will). It is normal to use a full stop, often referred to as a period, at the end of a complete sentence that is not a question or an exclamation. Happy to be of service and looking forward to your future corrections. Regards, Shian Yang

Greetings capsuleer Malkavian,
I recall from one of our previous conversations that you had a reading disability. However, hope springs eternal. Read this where I thanked capsuleer Hansen for his kind correction and updated the post.
That said - as he is a stalwart defender of spelling and grammar, do you not think it behooves a fellow capsuleer to help him as he helped me?
Why would you not repay a kindness with a kindness?

Ironically, I both agree with your post in total, but I really hate the unbelievable ill-informed nature of the above quotage. When was the last time a peon in a Goon Fleet actually built a Crane from pieces ? Ships impact the game in a HUGE way I believe. In fact it is now CCP's focus.
Actually, I know a lot of-as your put it "Peons"-who make their own ships out here in nullsec. Actually most of the "Peons" in nullsec are much more tha "peons" but are somewhat self-sufficient and have multiple toons to be that way. In null, all the "Peons" have to chip in or the alliance fails.
In highsec, you can have "peons" who dont do anything in your corp because there are enough other people around you to keep the game going. My post was probably full of typos. I don;t care... |
