Hey everyone, recently moved to 0.0 space with my new corp. Problem is, the space I am in contains Gurista rats and I only fly Amarr ships... My lasers take years to kill a Gurista BS.
I have heard Projectile turrets are okay to put on an Amarr BS, anyone ever try this? Post a loadout, thanks!

Tbh I'd advice you to further spec on your lasers instead. They have a great dmg output if you have t2 pulses and good support skills. Now, I'm assuming you don't have t2 pulses since I don't see how they could be so hard to kill with them.
And your dmg output with autocannons would be lower I can guarantee you that, especially on a ship with bonuses to lasers.
But if you insist, then just slap on Repeating 800's for a full rack and go at it. ________________________________________ "I robbed a goon and I liked it" - Suas |

Edited by: Zaran Darkstar on 05/04/2009 18:56:53 If you put projectiles you also need to train those. And if you train projectiles then you d better train the Minmatar BS skill to lvl 4 as well or else projectiles in unbonused ship are crap. I d say Train drones and get on a Dominix, You will have to train drones anyway to get on carrier later on. |

Way back, some people would fit projectiles to the Apoc. These days, use lasers on your amarr ships - period.
Projectiles suck even on Matar ships, and they REALLY suck on non-bonused ships. Trying to put them on an Amarr ship is s failure waiting to happen, so don't even try.

My harbie used to do fine against serp rats, so it should also do fine against guristas, so stick to lasers. ---------------------------------------------

Back In The Day, before the Apoc got boosted, people would fit projectiles on it to conserve capacitor for the tank. I haven't seen anyone fit projectiles on an Amarr BS since the boost.

No, but I've used lasers on a minmatar battleship.
Tempest with 4 Cruise and 4 Megabeams, when we'd do some plexes. It was lulz

Use 2-3 Damagemods and Thermal Drones(with a Gedon/Abaddon) and try to shoot things in Xray or even better Multifrequency range. Multi, Gamma and Xray got way more thermal Damage what speeds it up quite a bit, beams are prefered here since most of the BS will orbit around 40-50km.
Guristas take longer than any other NPC type with Lasers, but this is mostly limited to some elite Cruisers and BS, the rest dies nearly as fast as other NPC types.

Exactly this, your fit or skills are the culprit here. I've worked gurista rats in 0.0 with lasers and never had a problem downing them. Examine your fit and go for max dps, you don't have to tank all that hard even on a 3 bs spawn, it's not like full room aggro on a level 4.

stick with lasers - the amarr ships use them quite well.
Or you take a ship with no damage bonus and fit it with hybrids since you're shooting rats that are weak to hybrids.
Or you move to space that has rats weak to lasers...

Geddon, 7 Mega Anode particle beams with faction MF crystals == Even Angels melt.
Course now I've got the skills for T2 beams, so I'd have to try and fit Megabeam IIs or such. Combine with (preferably T2) drones.

Lasers are just as good vs guristas as they are vs sanshas.
That being said... when I first started lvl 3 missions I was doing them in an Apoc with medium arties. I didn't have the skills to run lasers (then known as lolzors)and rep. And even with super crappy skills there was no way to lose an Apoc in a lvl 3.
That was fine for then... but there is no reason to fit anything but lasers on amarrian turret ships unless you really want to surprise your opponent in pvp. An AC punisher or proph can be a nasty surprise for those not expecting it.

Well, Retributions get a nice range bonus to lasers, but you could go and do something insane like fit one with autocannons for a nasty surprise... Might enough have enough cap to dual-rep with that kind of setup.
