The new graphics while warping look really cool imo. However, is it just me? Does the fact that I see the warp tunnel perpendecular to the motion of travel seem odd? Bug perhaps, and I also see it in the Tranquility server as well. I hope CCP has taken notice of this and are planning a fix. This affect appears on all different settings.

Yeah I've noticed that too, but only on pods. And before any dev tells me to bug report it, last bug report I filled was the day after Apocrypha came out and no-one has even looked at it funny.
But the new warp effect is better than the last. --- O.P. is made of fail c/d.

I want it removed. Reported.

The pod warp bug is present with the old effect, saw it on Tranq about 2 hours ago.
if you disagree with me then you should probably post a response and stop reading my signature. |

It also happens whenever a freighter or capital decides to warp sideways. The tunnel effect matches the ship's orientation, not its direction of travel.

Edited by: Morwen Lagann on 06/04/2009 03:49:49 Problem with the pod warp tunnel is likely in how CCP implemented the effect -- at least, if they did it the way I think they did (my guess is below):
The warp effect is rendered as a child of the node on the scene graph that belongs to your ship. The orientation of the effect is based on the roll axis of your ship model. For most (all?) ships, this is the obvious front-to-back axis. On the pod, however, instead of running from each of the conical ends of the egg shape, it runs from one side to the other, along what we might expect to be the pitch or yaw axes. Because the pod turns and points the pointier of its two ends towards the warp destination, the "roll" axis ends up pointing up and down instead of in the direction of travel.
I could see it being a five-minute fix, but in all likelihood it probably isn't. |
