I'm looking at getting into invention and I'm looking for a bit of info on the skills.
Would I be correct in believing the only skills that effect your chances of getting a successful invention is the Ship Engineering skill and the racial Encryption methods?
Or
Do you need all other skills up as well, such as Elctromagnetic Physics, Graviton Physics
Thanks!
Me.

Well you're mostly right. The racial encryption skill affects any job that uses its racial technology (you can tell by seeing which data interface it uses). The rest is decided by which two data cores it uses. So a ship will check your racial starship skill and mech engineering, while a missile launcher will check rocket science and mech engineering, and so on. Just look at what datacores its using and make sure the appropriate skills are trained up.

I probably should have also mentioned that adding high meta base items and data decryptors can also help your odds. Theres a good calculator here.

Don't start invention inventing ships. Until you have a feeling of the possible results and costs, doing ship invention will consume your capital with the risk of little returns.
Module invention usually has better return and it is easier to adapt to a changing market.

I would disagree. Frigates still have a high base success rate, a ready market, and decent margins. They're not necessarily the most profitable creation but they're easy to make and easy to sell. Anything larger though and you'll quickly get caught in a quagmire of bizarre market fluctuations and constant failure.
