ok, I'm confused about this
what, exactly does signature radius represent vs signature resolution?
For example on a stock Rupture:
Sig Resolution = 245 mm Sig Radius = 130 m
Another example is a Claw:
Sig Resolution = 1000 mm Sig Radius = 30 m
No skills added in for any of these. So what does it mean? What the heck is 'mm'? What is 'm'?
Please enlighten me.
Thx!

mm = millimeters, m = meters
sig resultion is something with your target computer, how fast you can target
sig radius = how big is your ship on scanners Wanna fly with me?

Edited by: Idara on 24/08/2004 23:43:20 "mm" would mean "millimetres" as far as I can tell, and "m" would be metres. I can't explain why a higher scan resolution is better, it would seem to me that the lower it is, the better and smaller an area it can scan.
But sig radius, in metres, is the...errmm...displacement?, that a ship would do in space, or how big it would show up on a scanner screen.
Methinks.
The one with the pink panty obsession has beaten me to my explainantion...I feel inadequate...

While that previous statement, I'm afraid, is quite true. I still do not see why or how having a higher scanner resolution, more millimetres is better, when it comes to locking a target.

cause your targetting computer is able to gather more infos about your target in a better speed, like with PC games, higher resolution = you see more details and you can pack more on your monitor Wanna fly with me?

That does make sense, while I believe something along the lines of an Intie's scanner having like 500 GHz of scanning speed, compared to an Apocs 90 GHz would be a little less...confusing.

hehe sorry, but i admit it makes really not much sense that frigs target faster than BS
normally a BS targetting computer would be much better, but well it works fine the way it is
maybe thats where all the spare CPU goes which frigs have normally Wanna fly with me?

Considering you'd except a BS to have bigger processors and computers to deal with scanning, yeah, BS's would make sense to have easier times locking and targetting stuff. But that would really unbalance the game...at least that's what the DEV's tell us.

have you ever seen this 8xSensor booster scorps?
killed everything at gates, locking time under 1 second near to insta lock and gank Wanna fly with me?

nah cpp changed it a couple of month ago, that were the days of true ganking and griefing
i grewed up in a world where SPVD killed you before you could see anything and dampers caused CTDs, and instand ganking in empire was normal
that makes me sometimes angry with people complaining these days Wanna fly with me?
