<3 IAC
So many great memories from all the years. Prohibition 1 and 2.. yeah cant really get better then those times.
DKOD, Firma, QI, Genco, INE, TMK, XMX... and so many others.. o/
Also to be fair, to the old Enemies, FIX, MC, ISS o/
The magic that made IAC what it was is still in our hearts and minds and it seems like every alliance we join, or region we visit, are all sad reminders of IAC in all her glory.
IAC was lost in to the mists of EVE, strewn along a stony bolder filled path. I have put IAC to rest, burried in my memories and in my heart. I hope there is a future for the old Drunken Cat, though it will be a different animal with a different soul and I will no longer call her IAC.
To all the people of IAC, o/
Thundirr out.

Yea, I can only chime in, IAC was golden! So many laid back people under 1 roof, so many fun fights! And the drunkOPs- best OPs! ****, I even miss Tyrrax¦s shenanigans now and then :P
o/ fly drunk
I was never in iac but this has been my experience to. I started playing eve around the time of the first assault on qy6 and my corp was basing out of FAT-/25s and we had ratting rights there for some reason. Being a clueless newbie in a rifter and not knowing the **** to do, I would constantly do silly things like loot/salvage other peoples wrecks and break chains. Well one day I was going about my newbness, salvaging some dudes wreck... while that dude was still in the belt, when I noticed an iac guy say "ZALLER NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" in local. Apparently I was trying to salvage his hauler spawn wreck which was some what of a nono. Not knowing what I was doing wrong, the iac guys were very polite in taking the time to carefully explain everything to me. From that point on, the iac guys would always answer my newb questions in local and give me advice. The people in IAC I talked to were really laid back and were here to enjoy the game/have a good time. They truly were a kick ass group of people

I say hello to all you former IAC'ers as the former Wanux (that char is sold btw). I bring you:
IAC Shenanigans The love story between two enemies, IAC and FIX. IAC go to camp a station and mess some services up, and end up conga-line dancing in their ships with FIX. Good god FIX was such a great adversary. <3 FIX and IAC
IAC at Fanfest 2007 INE corp's video of IAC at FanFest 2007. Such a great time. Sorry for falling asleep at the PizzaHut (jetlag and beer = Wanux snooze). Also featured are SUAS and Serenity Steele (<3 maps).
Great memories. Great people. Time to rest. No new IAC. Please. |

Definately do miss fighting you guys. Would sign up for a rematch if we could; 1. find a place to do it 2. have nobody else try to jump in on our fun
...only thing we lack is two alliances, stations, and pilots.

IPWN loved being part of IAC. It was pvp heaven, we learned a great deal, really enjoyed conversing and flying with our alliance mates and made decent isk to afford sparkly new ships. It was an oasis in eve for people who didn't want to become part of the Wal-Mart's of the game (ie. power blocs). We've bounced around a little bit trying to recapture that IAC essence to no avail. Who knows, maybe I'll start another alliance up and take what I learned from being in IAC and leading BLACK and try to get it right this time. IAC 07

Most of the corperations from IAC were so close (sounds gay but its the best corperation you can have). For instance all the members from BOF are still here, all the IPWN members are still there, Genco is still there i believe...
IAC taught us alot and i wish it could be remade but after all the problems in B.L.A.C.K, it will never happen...

There definitely is enough interest. The biggest question is when the majority of these "Grass is greener" types to put up or shut up.
B.L.A.C.K was an abomination and needed to be put down - it tried to be IAC but without the self-respect to call itself so. I kept MVN out of it for concerns which later turned out to be true.
IAC can and will come back - if the principal power behind IAC - the people - show up to stand by their alliance when the time comes to really push it back into the limelight where it belongs, making headlines and losing imperial issue apocs because WE CAN.
There was some effort between a few corps to resurrect IAC however final terms could not be completely agreed upon so for now the idea was shelved. However just because something has been shelved for now does not mean that the topic is shelved for good.

BLACK did not try to be IAC or think itself as a new IAC. There were aspects we tried to incorporate, but it was never the intent to make BLACK the new flavour of IAC (although I threw that out there to keep you interested We all know what a fantastic super leader you are Avi. Most of Eve knows you own killer poodles and are highly skilled in karate, but thats for another time on another thread.
P.S. Heya Thundirr---you were awol quite often by the time IPWN got into IAC, but the few times you did fc we had a great time and you always did a fantastic job.

I think all the serious players were fed up with the large number of weak, incompetent or uber-casual corps in IAC. Never mind the many questionable top-level decisions (though I think with better timing the final reorganization idea would have benefited IAC).
Many people had the same idea, reform with less baggage and less dead weight. In our earliest discussions there were many with plans to band together the 5 (depending on how you value ex-IAC corps maybe more or less) quality corps and move forward. The ultimate plan for BLACK was just never sound enough for most of our pilots and they voted heavily to fly elsewhere despite a shared feeling of nostalgia.

the people who took over after my departure had a rather nasty mess to deal with, what with our closest and much stronger neighbor -A- resetting standings, various corps disbanding or leaving and attempts at cutting fat backfiring, some of them made some mistakes with diplomacy involving Kraftwerk and goons which combined with goons not really having a reason to keep IAC blue without me in there meant standings were reset, not good for IAC's morale..
then iac president Hachou annoyed Evil Thug on russian forums which resulted in -A- deciding to wipe out the struggling remnants, and under increased pressure the alliance quickly folded without putting up much of a fight
another mistake they made was neglecting building a closer relationship with CVA and the providence block, but even with their full support and proper coordination iac would not have been able to fight -A- off in the condition it was in towards the end
i think we were at about 2500 members and in pretty good shape when i got booted (which was the right move, all things considered), lost about 1000 members almost immediately, and then gradually shrank over the few months it had remaining..
so basically it's all morris falter's fault for outing me !

TT dont go and take all the credit.
The IAC 'Culture' went through some heavy changes when the first real 'split' happened. When DKOD and Firma left (those that know IAC understand that Firma and DKOD were around from the start) that took a big part of the culture away from IAC. There was a long campaign by Outbreak against IAC and that also did a number on morale.
Id actually suggest that IAC as a culture started to fragment after Prohibition II.
When the war with Outbreak concluded the war vs bob/fix/MC/AXE/whoever else started. IAC as a whole changed, the culture changed, and the reasons for playing changed.
We were forced to play EVE. The Leadership was forced to keep the alliance fighting for its life for months on end. Decisions were made, corp culture was set, and a more 'left wing' PVP attitude developed. We started Recruiting heavily to fill the ranks.. and still we PVPd.
After the combined IAAC forces held the BoB war at FAT for almost a month, IAC withdrew to JZV to regroup, rebuild and die.
I dont think any one event after FAT really did it. Sure TT getting booted didnt help, but that wasnt why it happened. I think something happened to the Soul of IAC in the fires and combat in FAT.
That Will and Desire to survive no matter the odds.. the Spirit of the drunken warrior who knows no end because he always has his brother.. It was the loss of the bond between our members and the loss of.. identity...
It is possible to have a 3000 man alliance that is dead... They might be winning and having fun.. but the alliance is dead...
So.. TT dont go giving yourself credit for everything, you were there, and you just like the rest of us, helped push IAC further towards the end.. But I think it was EVE herself that did the old Cat in. EVE is a cruel mistress and she will swallow you alive if you give her a chance.
Thundirr out.

All that crap about spirit of IAC and whatnot is just that, crap. Neither alliance nor culture ever stopped changing so you can't say "the real IAC" applies to any particular point in time, fact is right before I got caught the alliance had been rapidly and drastically improving (f.i. with the pos gunner corp and proper cyno jammer setups being standardized) was successfully fielding large gangs and coordinating well with allies (f.i. when Tortuga lost 200 bs fighting us and CVA in 49-u)
-A- reset was impending but we were getting closer every day to being ready for it (probly woulda lost anyway, but hey who knows)
as for FIRMA/DKOD leaving being some kind of beginning of end, they'd been destroying morale with their constant whining and naysaying for months before and when they finally did leave it was a huge improvement as far as I'm concerned :P
I'm certainly not taking credit for everything, but IAC's death as an alliance was most definitely started when I got booted, obviously Apple boy, Hachou, Eaiaden and promu played their parts during the decay
PS; IAC never had 3000 members, but it was nowhere near death at 2500 when I was caught. (you're right about alliance numbers being meaningless sometimes tho, look how fast KOS went from 4200 to zero)
