Hey trolls, is this good enough for C&P?
Summary for the attention-span-impaired:
Ninja-looter kills faction-fit Navy Megathron in an Arbitrator in a level 4 mission in highsec, without remote repair or remote cap recharge assistance.
---
The full story for the detail-oriented:
I devised a new setup for an Arbitrator that (I thought) might allow me to possibly kill mission-fit battleship gunboats, WITHOUT ASSISTANCE, if conditions were right.
Why an arbitrator? In my estimation, it's one of a handful of ships that will be repeatedly fired on by highsec mission runners because it looks weak. I always fit 1 salvager to enhance the illusion that I am only interested in mission loot and salvage, and not there to fight.
I scanned down a Navy Mega in a level 4 serpentis mission. Although there was a Harbinger with him, they were in different corps, and none of the Mega pilot's corpmates were in system, so I decided to proceed.
I jumped into the first room and stole from a wreck, then proceeded into the second and then third rooms. In the third room, the Mega was about 30km off the warp-in beacon. He had finished the first rat group, and was not yet fighting the next spawn. As soon as I landed, he locked me, and started firing immediately. He hit me very hard; by the time I got my speed and transversal to where they needed to be, got within 24km to apply the point, and got the tracking disruptor on him, I was down to about 1/5 armor.
Once his rails were no longer hitting me, I popped 5x warrior IIs and killed off his drones. I then gradually shrank my orbit to 500m, switched over to heavier explosive drones, and started draining his capacitor.
It took a good 3 minutes, but eventually his armor repairer turned off. His buddy in the Harbinger targetted me but couldn't do anything to help. As he got into structure, a Navy Vexor jumped in - I was afraid it was packing repair drones, but it never got involved.
After the Navy Mega popped, I scooped the loot, salvaged the wreck, and docked up.
I chatted with the pilot afterward - he was a good sport about it.
Unfortunately, most of the faction loot died - out of a rack of faction armor mods and a Domination 100mn afterburner, only an Amarr Navy EANM survived.

Only a few rats were on him, and he killed them off before I got into his armor. Look at the pictures - all rats are like 70km off and none of them are firing on him.

Yes, it's a decent kill. But what do you want from C&P? If you want respect or adulation, you're in the wrong place, and we're fresh out anyway.

Edited by: Decimus Sellic on 07/04/2009 22:34:19 Why are you looking for approval from and internet forum? Get into a corp and make some friends in game, then post your kills on the killboard. You will get plenty of congrats and laughs from the corp you decide to join.
Edit: In any case, nice kill.

Don't expect respect and adulation; have a cute doberman puppy for that, working out pretty good so far, except for destroyed shoe yesterday.
Wouldn't mind attracting some C&P regulars to get involved with similar hijinks (carebear shooting, not shoe destruction).
I realize there's a recruitment forum, but I'm not looking to form a corp. Just meet more peeps who enjoy the seedy underbelly of this game as much as I do. C&P seems to be as good a place as any.

When you are on to a good thing, don't ruin it. Just a thought.

It seems to me that it isn't that you don't know what you're doing, you're just seeking approval or jeers for kills. You may have found a few good tactics for eliminating bears, but by posting, you're making it well known what you do, how you operate, etc. You're giving your "marks" advanced warning, as well as opening up the possibility that others will use those same tactics.
You've got a nice little method and succeed more then fail I'm sure. Personally though, if I find something that works really well, either a game mechanic, certain setup, tactic, etc...I tend to get rather clammed up about it.
Don't be so concerned with seeking approval, do what you do and do it well. Eventually either you'll gain notoriety (which has it's flaws) or you won't (which has it's advantages). Either way, if I'm around I may be up for a little tag team carebear action.

Exactly... Giving info away about tactics and such will only help your competitors. Although you first post did have the ring of a recruitment post, so this kinda stuff will get you new people for your corp.
Anyways, good job.
On a second thought - you could post this stuff up on Eve Pirate... More volume there would be nice.
