So I've decided to make an alt at last on a new account, and I've decided that I want it to be mainly a researcher for T2 BPC's as well as a manufacturer. Not interested in mining at all as it's as about fun as watching paint dry, so I plan to buy the materials needed for production
With that in mind, I've created a skill plan for the first 1.6mil SP with production eff 5 being the big finisher once I hit 1.59mil, just wondering what people think, and if there are any ways of improving it, as I've never tried my hand at industry before, so will probably make some mistakes along the way!
Skill plan for Cunane Kafka
1. Instant Recall II 2. Analytical Mind II 3. Learning II 4. Instant Recall III 5. Analytical Mind III 6. Learning III 7. Instant Recall IV 8. Eidetic Memory I 9. Eidetic Memory II 10. Eidetic Memory III 11. Analytical Mind IV 12. Logic I 13. Logic II 14. Logic III 15. Learning IV 16. Spatial Awareness I 17. Iron Will I 18. Spatial Awareness II 19. Iron Will II 20. Spatial Awareness III 21. Iron Will III 22. Spatial Awareness IV 23. Iron Will IV 24. Focus I 25. Clarity I 26. Focus II 27. Clarity II 28. Focus III 29. Clarity III 30. Science IV 31. Science V 32. Electronics Upgrades I 33. Electronics Upgrades II 34. Electronics Upgrades III 35. Electronics Upgrades IV 36. Electronics Upgrades V 37. Hacking I 38. Hacking II 39. Minmatar Frigate III 40. Minmatar Industrial I 41. Minmatar Industrial II 42. Electronics IV 43. Industry I 44. Industry II 45. Industry III 46. Refining I 47. Refining II 48. Engineering IV 49. Engineering V 50. Production Efficiency I 51. Production Efficiency II 52. Production Efficiency III 53. Production Efficiency IV 54. Production Efficiency V
Will end at around 2.2mil SP and take 30 days from the attributes and +3 implants I have lined up. Thanks in advance :D

What do you need Electronic Upgrades for? This is a pure manufacture/research alt?
I would erase the spaceship skills too.

It's needed for the Hacking skill. I'd assume he's going for exploration as well.
I recommend throwing in skills like "Research", and of course the Trade skills so that you can manage far more sell orders. Obviously what I say isn't always what my alliance thinks. I hate to break it to you, but this is in fact my signature.

Having +3 implants ready sounds really good, but you haven't got Cybernetics included in your list. get the +3's plugged in as soon as you can, with the skill queue there is no excuse for having skills "too Short" to train.
and as above after this add in some decent trade skills and manufacturing/researching skills and your set. |

I'd assume he already has it, he doesn't have instant recall or analytical mind I in the plan either.
@OP, if you're going to be buying the materials you'll be building from you'd appriciate having a freighter for the mineral hauling, I'd suggest getting Racial Industrial V as the last part of the 100% learning bonus. |

Hacking is a pre-requisite for racial encryption methods. Since he wants to get into invention he will want that eventually--it is just a long way down the road.
Refining 2 is worthless. Either go all the way to Scrap Metal Processing, or don't bother at all.
A manufacturing character needs trading and hauling abilities. You can build a huge stockpile of things, but if it takes forever to sell it all off, you won't have enough cash to buy more and build more. Also, you say you are going to buy your minerals. That's fine, but trust me, you do not want to take 6 trips to your nearest market hub in your Mammoth to haul the minerals to build one battleship. So you need a freighter.
You don't have Mass Production listed. That is the other skill that is vital for a manufacturing career.
So, if I were in your shoes, I would do this:
Start in Trade when you have 7 base Charisma. (Skip if your main has good trading skills.) Accounting 4 Broker Relations 4 Contracting 4 (You will need this if you want to sell BPCs later.) Daytrading 3-4 Marketing 3-4 Procurement 3-4 Visibility 3-4 Trade 4 Retail 4
Remap to Perception/Willpower (Skip if your main can fly freighters.) Get <Racial> Freighter 4 and all prerequisites. Advanced Spaceship Command is only REQUIRED at 1, but I would get it to 3-4 just to make flying that freighter less painful.
Remap to Intelligence/Memory Production Efficiency 5 Industry 5 Mass Production 5/Advanced Mass Production 4. (At this point, you are good at building T1 stuff.)
Add Transports 1 so you can fly a blocade runner and sell stuff in low sec, if you want. Get Evasive Maneuvering 3-4 at some point for that freighter.
Now you start Science: Laboratory Operation 5/Advanced Lab Op 4
If you want to do datacore farming get Research 5/Research Project Management 4. Datacores will give you extra money every day, but the downside is you have to grind a lot of standings with a research corp. This character can't fly anything combat related, so he will need to be fleeted with your main mooching standings from missions.
Now you can actually start T2 inventing skills. There are 4 racial encryption methods and 17 datacore skills. Do some market research to figure out what you want to invent first. Get that race's encryption methods and those two datacore skills to 4. Keep adding more until you have all 21 skills at 4.
If you are going to build these T2 ship BPCs you invented, add Frigate Construction 5, Industrial Consctuction 3, Cruiser Construction 5, Battleship Construction 4.
At this point if you want to do T3, add Reverse Engineering 4, Jury Rigging 5, the five Subsystem Skills 4.
Then start working on getting the 21 inventing skills and the six T3 skills to 5.
That skillplan should take you 3 or 4 years. Let EveMon tell you what learning skills to get. Then adjust the plan to get as long a skill as possible starting at 1.59M SPs.

Remember to aim for a BIG skill just before you hit 1.6m SP. You'll get the 2x bonus until the skill in finished.

Why do people keep saying this. I am sure it was fixed a while ago now and after you pass 1,600,000 skill points the modifier is gone and you train normally again, Mid skill.
