the guided missiles of eve are never ballistic, to be ballistic they would need to not be under the effect of any forces other than gravity(ie no booster pushing it along or guiding it to its target)
AC/arties/railguns are ballistic tho

well if I didn't care I could call an apple an orange, or I could just call it what it is besides Ballistic control is an oxymoron... you can't control a ballistic object, if you could it wouldn't be ballistic(its a vicious cycle)
from now on all ships will be called tweezers instead just cause it was the first thing that came to mind desk cloud anvil paint I should work in in the ccp naming department, I'm really good at thinking up random words pellet cat ok I'm done but I could do this all day telescope ------------------------ Infrared = heat = thermal Infrared crystals = less therm more EM I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS! Not entierly true. By shaping the ballistic object a certin way you can get it to act differently :).
In modern ballistics you control the artillery shell actively as well.
SO the term ballistc is getting outdated really :P

bullets aren't actually ballistic unless traveling in a vacuum
and if you are actively controlling a falling object with control surfaces then its not even close to ballistic ------------------------ Infrared = heat = thermal Infrared crystals = less therm more EM I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS! And here I was thinking ICBMs had some kind of thrust mechanism but as it turns out they are entirely gravity powered
After a quick lookup ballistic missiles are those which "follow a suborbital flightpath". So eve missiles aren't ballistic, but not for the reason you gave.
That's about as much thought as I'm willing to dedicate to it because at the end of the day nomenclature doesn't affect my enjoyment of the game.

Well. Apparently they figured out a way to control ballistic objects. There for the whole Ballistic CONTROL System.
Don't ask me how they do it, lulz -------------------------------------------------- Overkill vs Me :'( |

Actually, you can control a ballistic object. You could accelerate an object near it to a large percentage of light-speed, creating a relativistic gravitational force from the increased mass. By altering the trajectory of multiple relativity-guidance-missiles, you could in effect alter the local gravity, thus controlling the entirely ballistic object.
Or you could just alter the gravitational constant

Just go to wikipedia
And it's not UNIT...it's SYSTEM. It was never named unit. I have proof that even in 2003 these things were referred to as SYSTEM not UNIT. ---
