I see what you did there.
Also, the popularity of FW (along with quite a number of things in EVE) tend to be cyclical. Our corp was in it at the beginning and it was fantastic. We left when a lot of it died down. Came back later on and it was actually bigger (well, appeared that way) than when we left.
Blobby, mind you. But more people. Hard for a small PVP corp to really get involved in if we didn't wanna wait 4 hours for a fleet to form and go blobbing. I think I've given the general gist, however. Your signature is too large. Please resize it to a maximum of 400 x 120 with the file size not exceeding 24000 bytes.Applebabe

I joined the militia very recently, figured it would be ideal for some part-timer pew pew.
Within 24 hours of joining i left as it appeared:
no targets to shoot
almost every green i saw engaged me on sight - carebear pirating ftw?
formed into a fleet by somebody called COSMIC ANIALIATION or some **** whos caps button was perma-locked, and when i wouldnt join eve voice (seriously, if they type like that what are they going to SOUND like? /shudder) was told "JOIN VOICE OR KICK," so i left em to it.
Then logging on the next day hoping all this was a blip straight into a conversation with Psyduck (or similar). I asked in militia chat if it was normal for greens to shoot each other in FW and this pocket pokemons immediate reply was "havnt i killed you?" Thus followed much epeen waving followed by him brandishing his total ISK damage on the battleclinic KB vs mine - Top Trumps in space! "Well i see you have caused more collateral damage, but what is your rank?"
all in all i sacked it within 24 hours of joining. Poorly planned, poorly implemented and poorly staffed. Ill stick to carebearing thanks

If you'd only seen 2 greens and one shot you than i would belive that almost every green engaged you on sight. I never had this problem but maybe it's different in other factions, i'm with minmatar (best there is).
Try joining a corp who's in the militia and it's much more fun. That's what people keep saying but i wouldn't know because i'm still in the npc corp

So much potential, and all gone to waste.
I sincerely hope CCP gives FW a big overhaul soon(tm). It is one of my big issues while I'm on the CSM, and I wrote numerous issues and documents about the problems. CCP agrees with it, but it just doesn't seem they are giving FW the priority it deserves.
Just like the cloaking-exploit and the problems with the Gallente/Caldari event last week, sent them some emails about it to get things fixed, two weeks later and no reply.
It's been almost a year since the CSM raised alliance participation in FW, and while CCP claims they have the fix basically ready to roll out since November, it's still not in game.
1 minute silence for 2 wasted years of development time. ---

Using caps to highlight the FC is pretty much standard practice - when the chat isn't grave quiet its far easier to pick out orders in caps than to read everything which the scouts, FC and miscellaneous chatters are posting. And joining voice is pretty much required. Don't have a mic? you don't need one - but you do need to hear primaries...etc. --

CCP really needs to rework the risk vs. reward aspect of FW.
Make the rewards greater as suggested already in many posts.

I think faction war needs a better than average LP store at militia agent stations.
I think their should be more sorts of medals and achivements in faction war.
Be able to get rewarded with navy issue ships of your militia for good service etc...
if you disagree with me then you should probably post a response and stop reading my signature. |

Hmm, well I dont know which milita's you guys have been in but i found the minmatar milita great fun.
There were always fleets, always targets to kill, FC's were competant and successfull. I learnt a lot from them even dabbled with FC'ing myself.
I do agree that it needs something more, but wspace for merepresents a much greater failier than FW. CCP really needs to work on their "risk / reward" equation on both aspects, but I got a lot more reward from FW

I really hope that particular fix never makes it into the game. If a big alliance joins one militia the other militia is totally screwed (has horrid vision of Goonswarm joining Caldari militia). I dare you to Fight My Brute ! |

The first couple of days of FW was great.
The not as clever as they thought they were pirates placed 3 carriers on the first low sec gate entry point into FW space.
Caldari FW crew jumped in and popped all 3 carriers.
After that, the pirates all placed an alt in each FW race and never got caught with their pants at their ankles.
By now, I would HOPE the pirates are actually using their ALTs to be the FCs dragging the hapeless fools in FW out to their gate camps to pad their killboard stats and stoke their e-peens.
Only way FW could succeed is to make FW space unavailable to non-FW people and that just sounds awful, so expect its going to just pitter out

Its all in the details.
The standing requirements to join will be so high that it's really only for specialized roleplaying alliances (Ushra'Khan, CVA, Star Fraction) etc, which have already participated in FW in the first place. ---

Edited by: Irida Mershkov on 12/04/2009 13:26:07 Ran through Tama last night, bagged two Drakes before my gang shortly left due to lack of targets, went to the nearby high-sec gate, saw a Vagabond, Incursus and I think an Ares on the gate, jumped through after deciding they weren't worth the GCC, what was on the other side?
About 40 bloody ships as part of one big Caldari Militia blob. Look at the overview... Caracal, Caracal, Rifter, Moa, Moa, Caracal, Rifter, Caracal, Hoarder, Caracal, Ishtar, Moa, Kestrel, Kestrel, Hawk, Caracal, Harpy, Caracal, Moa.

Wow, ship sizes have really declined since I was in FW. When I was flying with Steelcastles we'd have anchored a fleet that size with a couple of Scorpions, three or four Ravens, and half a dozen Drakes and Feroxen.
Of course, I left because (a) nobody would come out and fight and (b) there wasn't any profit to be had, nor any game advantage to be won from clearing the pipe between Tama and Old Man's Star every night. And plexing never changed anything.
I'm still bummed that CCP stopped developing FW before it was done, and from the last thing I saw (I think it was CSM meeting summaries) the impression I got was that their view is/was "It's popular enough, we don't want to make it better or it would bleed folks from 0.0." To which my response is "You say that like it's a bad thing." ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

slowpoke op.fail warfare died days after the release. Black rise is utter fail. I've recently been through there and it's just a big hole of crap.
I said Before, During testing, and after that failwarfare should either exist in 0.0 or high sec. Low sec is broken.
Lots of value there; just a crazy amount of risk in doing anything for a prolonged period of time. Pirates can just stick around. They blue each other. There's no such thing as anti-pirate. As anti-pirates have to be pirates.
Just a bad situation. ------------------------ To make a megathron from scratch, you must first invent the eve universe. ------------------------ Life sucks and then you get podded. |

Facwar is dying after many long months. It's hardly worth logging in any more as the targets are fewer and farther between and always clustered in the same 2 or 3 systems.
Award loyalty points at a reasonable level.
Taking a couple minor plexes down might grant enough LPs to buy faction ammo, for example. Changing sovereignty (or successfully defending a bunker) should grant enough LPs to purchase a faction frigate. Faction cruisers and other significant rewards should be the result of accumulating several thousand LPs.
Keep LP rewards modest, make sov mean something reasonable (for docking or station services) and fix the current wardec mechanics so pirate corps can't cherry-pick individual militia player corps without being set red to all corps in that militia.
Problems solved -- Faction Warfare instantly becomes a bigger hit than ever before, with lots of returning participants (and many new ones), all spread out through an exciting and ever-changing theater. -- Meridius Dex Visit the Gunship Forums --

Yep its dead. The recent 3 or even 4 way fights between Caldari, Gallente, and 2 seperate pirate fleets show its dead too.
Also, being on voice is essential. You need to know where to go, when to go and who to shoot and typing in the middle of a fight is just...meh
