the solution is soo easy,... Why do i need to come up with this easy solution.. I remember ccp doing alot really alot of effort by reprogramming the sec hit stuff a few patches ago. Without the cargo scanners gankers cant just gank every hauler... that would cost them too much sec hit's.
As token of my briliant idea ccp i accept a few billion isk transferd into my accout

Suicide ganking is an accepted part of EVE game play. Accepted by the devs that is. There are methods to keep yourself from being targeted, which usually contain the buffer tanks and manual flight. Also keeping the value carried in relation with the popability of the ship you use for hauling is a good idea.
Now as a token of gratitude for my brilliant advice you can send me a couple billion ISK. -------- Ideas for: Mining

If you're hauling things, put those things in containers.
Now the scanners only show containers.
Gankers wont risk their ships for unknow containers.
you survive a potential suicide gank.... CONTAINERS! ---Sig Starts Here--- Look back uppon history, and realize that things we take for granted now as important aspects of the game were once looked down uppon as bad ideas. http://www.eveonline.com/ing |

stop telling this bull**** to people who then rely on that. Containers help you a sh*t, dude, they are invisible on the scanner, the guy who scans gets the result as if there were no containers at all, they "look through".

Why would we want to stop suicide ganking?

If you stay in high security systems and if your ship has a good tank, then it's no problem. If you do manual flying (warp to 0) they won't even have a chance to scan you.
With a real good tank on your ship you can fly autopilot safe route and the suicide gankers will get concorded before you lose your ship and cargo.
Then you can laugh at them in local chat for being a stupid wanna-be pirate who doesn't have the balls to go where the real pirates are, Low Security Systems.

Cheap haulers (1m) transporting high valuables (+100m) and autopiloting are bad ideas.

An interceptor with a scanner will scan any industrial / transport ship before it gets into warp without issue. That's a crazy statement.

Yeah, because it's not like people have money to throw away on suiciding others who may have a payout. It's not like some players will risk a T1 ship on the off chance they'll get a good payout. No that has never happened.

Lets remove all guns and other damage causing items, then those nasty pvpers wont be able to do a thing and the game will become awesome.

They can scan you before you jump while doing manual warp to 0? Maybe but I seriously doubt they'll have enough time to see the cargo and then also attack.

They'll just jump through and get you the other side while you're aligning. Interceptors also warp faster between gates than most other ships.
Seriously, Scanning a hauler even when warping to zero is easy.

What is it about making 25 jumps in a hauler not fun?
I like autopilot, and I have no idea why you can not warp to 0, travel while logged out, and have autopilot dock.
Warping to 0 will not help you. Putting your stuff in secure cans only means the killer has 100% chance of getting the loot. The only thing you can do to protect yourself is to fit a tank. Freighters FTW.

Use a tanked Orca as a hauler. That thing is able to take as much punishment as a tanking Drake. Whatever you got in your hold: Unless the ganker has you wardecced, he has little to no chance of popping you before Concord comes in to shave the hay. Even if it is a team of suicide battleship gankers with sentries. Seen it fail a few times now. For extra fun, fit a salvager to that Orca and enjoy their wrecks.

1. It's called Eve Online 2. If you don't play well and put real effort into it, you don't deserve to get best possible results either.

How about a module that gives you a chance of scrambling scanner data. Depending on the module meta level, the cargo scanner data would come back empty or give an incomplete inventory. It would be a low-slot module, so you would have to sacrifice cargo capacity. Named variants would give you a higher chance of returning bad scan data. It would require a new electronics skill. Something like Scan Signature Obfuscation.
Could also do a smuggler's cargo rig, which would give negative bonus to cargo scanner resolution.

This is something I've pined away for now for a long time, but for more than one reason. Scanning someones cargo is just too stupid simple now, and carries no risk. There needs to be consequence for poking around in someone's hold - but thats another issue.
There is one major reason to improve this area: Embolden a whole new line of smuggler play. Hidden floorboards? Secret compartments? Yes please. Much flavor could be added to this game by fleshing out the contraband aspects and allowing for a real payout for those who want to try to smuggle cargo past authorities. A whole line of cargo-covering modules/crates and scanner defeating skills could be implemented-and their defeating counterparts improved and fleshed out.
CCP *loves* its pirates. Never been any doubt about this. I just find it odd(and a shame) that this classic pirate/smuggler theme has never been more developed.

Btw the thing about cans is that if you have a Secure Can, not a normal one, then they can't see what's inside as it's password lcoked and everything.

If you're after a target, jump before or with them. Wait for them to decloak and you'll see them briefly. Burn for them with the WMD, the speed an interceptor can go means its very unlikely they'll have warped or moved from their decloak point much. If you have more in your fleet, get their drones orbiting you or use a Taranis and deploy yours. This will increase the chance you decloak them.
Then you have pilot error. A pilot only has to badly time the cloak once enough for you to get a lock. Sensor boosters will make short work of anyone not good enough.
