I'm consistently noticing severe lag when retrieving probes after scanning regardless of whether I have the map view open or not.
it only lasts for a few seconds but it is consistently a significant drop in frame-rate for the few seconds that it takes for the probes to warp to me.

Same here. I'm getting crazy lag whenever I resize probes too.

CCP broke
Dynamic spawn-despawn-respawn of everything bar wormholes CCP broke scanning probing and is now buggy CCP is now returning us to farming of content with new stuff only respawning at DT and remaining active even when full sites are finished

Originally by: Vrikshaka The new probing graphics are utterly terrible. The pattern obscures everything else on the map
I found it to be pretty damn bad indeed. Then I tried to change the client graphics settings to use high shader quality -> probing spheres became usable.

Things I've personally experienced since 1.1: 1: New probe sphere textures are hard to work with, especially when the spheres overlap. 2: Huge lag on moving/resizing/recalling probes. 3: P.O.S. shields just look...wrong. 4: Warp tunnel is at 90 degrees to pod actual warp direction. 5: Different stations can have massively different internal sound levels. 6: With patch 1.1 the mining drones have lost the new animations and sounds that they gained in the Apocrypha original update. 7. That Blue bar, personally....just doesn't seem to fit in. 8: On the up side, a lot of other sound bugs I was having have gone away...

A. The fitting screen:
The setup browser and file exchange are working nicely. It is a bit odd however, that one cannot assign (a) specific location(s) for the modules.
From reading the feature description it seemed, as if all station containers would be included in the module locator routine. Obviously I misinterpreted that one ?!?
I suppose me and others don¦t wish to put their precious fitting mods amongst the main hangars daily merchandise. For this very reason the usage of the mod fitting browser is not yet a mechanical, but a purely information based feature, and it is not helping the fitting process.
Custom Locations would also allow Corporations to have a Corp-fitting sent out whilst having the required modules in the corp hanger dedicated to member ship-fitting.
B. Personally, I haven¦t had issues with neither drone-behaviour nor turret-grouping. C. thanks for muting the corrupted salvager I sample
Cheers & thanks for listening oLO

That ain't lag. But it is a huge problem that CCP are fully skilled at introducing into every facet of the client at every possible opportunity.

Originally by: Hra Neuvosto I love the new tweaks to scanning!
But the spheres and probes can get a bit messy...
Examples:
All probes above the "horizon"
One probe above the "horizon"
All probes under the "horizon"
Originally by: Annette Green I am rather dissapointed with the change to the scan probes. I find it very difficult to see the probes among all the graphics.
2 Thumbs down on that change.
OMFG what on earth did you do to the probe bubbles, I can't see squat now, I can't see the probes to move them in most cases.
....
Actually truth be told the only change that needs to be made is that the probe control boxes need to be white the entire time, and not Shaded out which happens most of the time. And whats with that Blakout effect that you get when looking at the probes from directly above them? whose silly idea was that?

But I must say that one thing hit me like a brick wall to the face the moment i logged on, and that is the new cargo indicator (had my haulers cargo window open on login). That thing is hideously ugly and way out of place. The old one was way better and more subtle. Personally I don't realy like the choice of colour for the new one, but that one might be down to taste. What really makes me negative to it is the total lack of 3d feel to it. The rest of the UI is very nice with a distinct polish, but this new bar is just a flat box that could be drawn in under a minute in any decent image editor. it just feels out of place to me.
Edit: That said, the search box is a really nice addition and I fully approve of it :)
Yes the new Cargo Bar is Hideous, seriously bright blue? and it doesn't change colour based on the theme you choose either?

Originally by: Thoram Prior to patch as well as after patch, when locking on a wreck and tractoring it, the distance of the wreck jumps a few km and then move to the other side of the tractoring ship, before it moves back to the right side and gets the proper distance showing as it is dragged in. Nothing major but a bit of a letdown.
Have noticed this bugg myself a couple of times too.

/signed. This is one of the reasons i left WOW. Everytime there was a patch i needed to wait untill some 3d party had the file for download. If i did try to get it thru the patcher i would always end up at 10 - 20 KB a sec. I did try everything i could, using the help that Blizzard offerd and it NEVER helped.
I even tryed using the link that was offerd in this thread, and it just went to the same % as my current DL, as the patcher currently is at. And no i am in no mood to quit mu 3,5 hr download to test if that other one is faster.
Also tryed grabbing the full client.. that also /failed missrably.
I did a test download from Nvidia (new gfx driver) and it came down at about 5megs/sec, so its NOT my connection that sucks.

Edited by: Sky Burner on 23/04/2009 15:52:51 Hi,
- Can you please revert back to the old animation/muzzle effect for the large projectile guns? Because now they look like som kind of pink laser beam with alot of smoke :S I'm shure the new effects are more technically advanced, but the old effect looked way better with the 100m long flash eminating from the barrels... At least ad the flash too the current animation.
- As for smartbombs, I'm not shure if I like them or not. Often they just look like som kind of toxic cloud surrounding the ship rather than an bomb.

I noticed this one before 1.1. Interesting you say pod, now i think of it, it only happened once when i was in my pod. No other time. Funniest bug i've had for a while. (ie not crazy making)

Oh and by the way, THANK YOU CCP. For adding ID's to scanning signals.
If you could find your way to fixing what happens when you filter out "all other signals" so rescans show only one signal, as appose to three that'd be great. But this is exactly what i suggested/wanted and think will help narrow down WH scanning. I haven't extensively tested yet, so can't really be an authoritative bug report. Maybe it's just me glitching.
As for the other changes, gota agree, blech to the sphere change. I'll leave the rest of you to comment on everything else :D

Originally by: Alan Kell Client slows down dramatically when probes do anything since 1.1 patch. Pressing analyze or recover probes buttons triggers this.
Originally by: Meiyang Lee Warping 6 probes at once after placing them for scanning freezes the client for a few seconds.
There's also a FPS hiccup when scanning starts but compared to the freeze while warping that's very minor.
Originally by: Kayla Stonecutter Two big issues with scanning that are making it much harder to scan systems.
First, every time scan probes are moving, either when repositioning for a scan or when recovering, my framerate goes from around 100FPS to 0.5FPS or less. Doesn't matter if I'm in the solarsystem map or the normal ship view. Once the probes stop moving to start the scan or are recovered it returns to normal.
Originally by: Viceroy Bolloxim scanning: 50/50 yellow dots are only displaying a single dot
Originally by: Taak Coram Bug Report 78060.
Just wondering if anyone else has had an FPS problem with 4 or more probes warping. It's spasmodic at best but seems to be related to spacing of the probes and the new wireframe.
these are the issues i am having

ECM??
Can I ask what you devs at CCP have against the Force Recon ships?? Why are they becoming so homogenized? The Falcon was a unique ship that had trouble killing a hisec rat, but could turn the tide in a fleet battle. NOW.. its just a very expensive, slow, close range target, much like the other force recons. Even if I could somehow rationalize fighting with it at close quarters, my missile skills are useless, I now HAVE to train hybrids and drones.. wait.. is this the the Gallente takeover??? If I'd wanted to fly a close range drone/hybrid ship, I've have trained for the Arazu...
Guys, seriously. I have no problem with tweaks to game balance. BUT STOP trimming away the unique bits that made this game interesting and worth playing.
And where is the rational behind this? where is the discussion, the dev blog? I know there is always loads of changes being demanded on the boards, but for those of us who find no entertainment in that method of communication, this change came as quite a shock.
Are there ANY Caldari ships fit for pvp anymore? Not that can, you could pvp in an ibis. But ships that allow a unique and effective fighting style within the Caldari line. Something more than just tackle/blast.. ok, ok, I'm just ranting now.
A very disappointed long term player. Attack effectively first. |

IÆm a retired computer tech and play tournament chess so by nature IÆm a patient person. The new probe scan system is starting to try my patience! I never used the old system so I canÆt compare the two but it could not have been any worse. Finding a signature is not a problem but getting a 100% signal strength is. IÆve been successful about 25% of the time but it can take + hour or longer. Once I could not get a scan over 52% at the .25 scan range only a yellow dot. I gave up after my probes ran out of time. Another time I could not get above 22% at .25 scan range. IÆve read everything I could about this new system and have tried every technique. Well maybe not every technique. Im sure someone who has used the old system has better techniques. I know IÆm new to using probe scanning and my scan skill levels are not that high but I still think changes need to be made to the new scanning system.

Yeah, it seems they just decided one day to stop posting dev blogs about rebalancing. Instead they now start new threads in Game Development Forum. But even then it's already a done deal.

It's been mentioned before, but I'd like to give my own feedback on this to further emphasize the point.
I can't stand the new probing graphics. They were fine before, but these new ones don't improve anything, but they do impede functionality. When zoomed in close for tight ranges, the probe location boxes get hidden by the shadow effects, making it nearly impossible to reposition probes.
This has made probing for me extremely hard. I understand if that was the goal, but the way to make probing harder is not through a crummy probing UI, but through more sophisticated means via the probes themselves, or via skills.
Please fix the probing graphics, or even better, revert to the previous graphics, which worked just fine as they were.

Yes, the new graphics suck. And can you (CCP) please create a probe like the old "Multispectral Probe" showing you only the possible scanning types! Or did I miss anything?
