It looks like a mockup.
It could be more polished. But hey, it works and it doesn't make one's eyes bleed.

Yeah, I really liked the orange percentage bar, but this white against blue with the faded cargo icon in the back is really ****ty. And it does take up more space.

Can't agree more.
They not only took up extra space, they also leave really huge black space above with some black unmarked (looks like some graphics glitch but turned out as search field) box...
Old scheme was workin' really nice, what the point screwing it up? Or just 'we love skill queue style sooooo much, let's spread the curse'?
ps: just take a look at cap data in fitting screen - I have no words, tbh... |

A gaming laptop should have at least a 19" screen with 1680x1050. If you have one from the stone age. Tough.

I'd tend to say that my 24" is more than enough.
But the blue bar is awful. It's making the top-menu seem "heavy".

as a poster above mentioned, the top menu contains a (very stealthy) search box. while i like the search bar, it might benefit from less stealth. They are in more places, but as it is now one needs to launch scan probes to find them. Turning off the lights in the stations also did not help.
Still dislike the space hungry cargo thingy - I would imagine there were better ways of making place for invisible search boxes.
Also, to the troll quoted by LVV, go away. -----

I don't really care, and the new cargo search option is awesome. If goes straight to second place as best patch feature after the ability to assess containers from 2500 m. ---------------- Mr. Science & Trade Institute

Because I'd love to sacrifice a boatload of battery life, weight and size
If a laptop is used only for gaming, then it should have at least 1680x1050, but the vast majority can't afford to spend Lolmoney on expensive hardware due to bad UI design. Remember that the majority of people playing this game are almost certainly using smaller resolutions, and without them, you have nothing.
Throwing a boatload of cash at the problem is not the solution to poor UI design.

that new black text box where the capacity indicator used to be, is now a way to search a container.
All you do is type the partial name of an item your looking for, and only items that match will be displayed. helpful for those of us with big item hangars.

I saw it mentioned but it seems people dont know that the black space (teal in my case) above the cargo can bar is the search function great when you ahve over 1000 items in your bay.

Brilliant.
But yeah - the capacity bar is ridiculous. But then again, the entire EVE interface is sh*t. There is no continuity from one panel to the other. It's a sea of randomness.
I think it's time for CCP to recruit an interface designer from Apple :)

oh god please no, there is a reason I dont touch those things, and no it isnt because of the hardware...
just... gives us back the orange bar - there was little wrong with that. You must be able to find a place for that search box without making the window's top bar twice as large, right? -----
