If walking in stations is ever added, add a feature that allows you to "go dig through the trash". and collect things people have clicked trash it on, that you could then possibly find by searching in a stations garbage. pure genius no?

No.
This would create ISK out of thin air, ruining the economy. More ISK sinks are required, not more wealth.

Quite simply, jetcans were never intended to be used for mining. Thus, mining into them and then scooping it into a hauler is equivalent to digging through your own trash.

In EVE, things that get trashed eventually end up getting reprocessed. If you trash something in a station, the station management will handle the reprocessing. They will also claim whatever wealth they find in the trash.
However, there is also "trash". Trash as in garbage. Garbage as in "Garbage the trade commodity".
I think it would be neat if whenever someone trashes anything, the station where he does so puts up a sale offer of garbage. If someone wants to buy that garbage and ship it elsewhere, he is free to do so.
